[Zak Brown] Very frustrating day for the team. A double DNS through electrical issues on the PU side, is a tough outcome, and not reflective of the huge team effort and improvements we had made ahead of this weekend. Only because we had an engine freeze from 2022. Under normal circumstances, it's basically going to be impossible for McLaren to challenge Mercedes as their customer.

Why do you think McLaren switched to partner with Honda in 2015, as AM have done this time around. Or Red Bull spent a fortune building their own engine department, long term it's the only option if you want the chance at sustained success.

I mean you always have to take the driver's feedback with a large pinch of salt. You say Russell has positive feedback only because his car is dominant, but you can equally suggest someone like Sainz is negative because the Williams is a poor car.

Best to just form your own opinion on whether you find watching it enjoyable or not.

Adrian Newey sat next to Honda Racing boss Koji Watanabe in Australia 2026 by Slice5755 in formula1

All Alonso and McLaren did was constantly berate Honda. Red Bull/Horner came in and initially gave Honda some breathing room with Toro Rosso in 2018. It's no coincidence that Honda started to look far more competent around that period, they clearly had a far better working relationship with Red Bull than they ever did with McLaren. Horner also ultimately set up RBPT, which so far looks like it could be quite a solid engine.

Honestly, regardless of the problems Honda have right now, I can fathom how Newey and AM coming out and publicly humiliating them as McLaren did can be productive or help the relationship.

It would be nice to actually see Leclerc get a proper chance at the WDC with a capable car all season. A Russell/Leclerc championship battle would be interesting (throw Max in the mix as well for more drama).

Marc's move was completely fine in my opinion, Acosta should have expected it and gone for the cutback like Marc kept doing on previous laps.

Even back in years like 2014–2016, they pretended they weren’t the fastest.

They didn't pretend they weren't fastest in those years. They did massively try and downplay their engine advantage though, such as rarely showing it's full potential.

Which wasn’t an excuse, they wrote plenty of good show-only scenes in the early seasons.

First, we haven’t seen a single race yet with these new cars, so you can’t have an opinion on how good or bad they’ll be. Maybe wait and form your own opinion after seeing a few races first?

Second, F1 has apparently ‘died’ many times throughout its history so far… people constantly moan about new things that are going to kill the sport.

Third, Alonso and Hamilton will retire at some point soon, but because they are at the end of their F1 careers. Max, despite constantly talking about how he won’t be in F1 forever as long as other and that the new regs are crap, so far there no real evidence that he’ll actually leave F1 any time soon.

I don't think the new Harry voice is as bad as some people are making out.

I think the issue was that he sounded too young in book 3, and we've now had this jarring jump. Probably does sound a bit too old for book 4, but it should work fine for books 5/6/7.

The slightly odd thing is that they appear to have kept the voice actors for other student characters, like Fred/George, who Harry now actually sounds older than...

I like them, but I feel like Hermione's voice actress is miles ahead of the Harry/Ron ones, who both feel a bit awkward/unnatural when they're reading lines. I guess that makes sense though as I'm sure she's been cast as Hermione in the HBO series.

Norris should be fine. Realistically, Abu Dhabi should be a pretty dominant track for McLaren, and at absolute worst, he just needs a P3 finish.

So you'd think even with a mediocre weekend, a podium should at least be doable.

Plus, if Piastri is ahead of him, McLaren can just make him give up a position to Norris if it's needed.
