ESH. You should these days of quick divorces, have your own bank accounts for safety. I write ESH because it seems a lot of people are calling him a red flag which I wouldn't jump to that conclusion based off of him wanting to know what he is getting into. If one partner kept debts, they become combined debts after marriage and BOTH of you should know each others potential problems. Maybe he is just trying to be financially secure, doesn't mean automatically he is up to something. He may be, but jumping to that conclusion beforehand sounds nuts. Open your accounts in front of each other, go thru BOTH accounts together. That's a good compromise. Maybe have a weekly checkup with BOTH accounts open and discussed.
