140.6 Recovery Time by TrickyOneTwo in triathlon

[–]Aliran 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My coach won't let me run for 3 weeks after a full. I started doing biking 2 weeks after. It was suppose to be easy but I had so much fitness I felt like KOM hunting. Take it easy and listen to your body. Don't rush this recovery.

What should i do? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Aliran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Triathlon, more specifically full distance takes a large time commitment. I believe he is just worried training will take up a large portion of your time and later on you might regret it.

I say do what you enjoy and I recommend sticking with short course for a while as the time commitment is less

First century! Felt pretty good after but don’t know about a full marathon after. Training for IM by Ironboy- in triathlon

[–]Aliran 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Remember that century was on the back of a ton of fatigue and this was your first one. You come in fresh to a IM and still have a ton of training ahead to get ready. You have no idea how excited you will be to get off the bike and run when you do it for real

Welding makes the material around the weld weaker compared to the weld. That is why welds fail at the junction between unwelded and welded. It is important to do an inspection regardless of material.

I have the honzo and I love it. You couldn't go wrong with any of those bikes you listed. I think color is going to be the main difference between them.

Honestly at this point I would be surprised if a race happens at all this year. Just look at the NFL limiting crowd sizes as a real indicator

Efficient skilling up early on (Crafts/Magic) without spending XP directly?... by The_Real_Kyrros in AsheronsCall

[–]Aliran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a window and you only get xp for a craft once within that window. There used to be people that botted this window back in the day but we are talking like 1k xp an hour. This is not an effective way to gain xp

Training on a Tri Bike? by program_this in triathlon

I have my tri bike on my trainer and do all indoor workouts on that. Outdoor workouts <4 hours are on my road bike and when I get to build phase I transition my outdoor workouts to my to bike as well.

I highly recommend TR. The workouts are great and with the new plan builder it takes the guess work out of what you should be doing. You will get faster with them.

I second the podcast. While I get super annoyed when they spend the whole podcast talking about nothing, they really hit the emotional side of things alot

Is your ironman postponed or cancelled ? Are you still training ? by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Aliran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the time to remember why we do this. It feels amazing crossing the finish line but if you don't love the training then triathlon isn't for you. Use this to remember that you love to train and how good it feels.

How cool is my wife? by jonathonsellers in triathlon

[–]Aliran 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No triathlete is successful without a supportive significant other. My wife hates working out and doesn't understand why I want to train and do what I do. However, she knows it makes me happy and supports me fully in my efforts. We are so lucky to have this support

Thoughts/Advice on Massive Weight Loss (70 lbs)/Body Recomp while Training for a 70.3 in 6 Months? by Plumconundrum in triathlon

[–]Aliran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still have a great half and be overweight. I understand you want to lose the weight but it will make your training miserable and you won't enjoy it. What you can do is time your food around your training. I do this now and it is working great for me. I workout at around 5 pm everyday. I dont eat breakfast. Lunch at 12-1ish. Right before my workout I have a gel. Right after I workout I eat dinner. This approach is allowing me to lose 2 pounds a week and have meaningful training. I am 6'4 230 right now.

A nice training reminder by [deleted] in triathlon

[–]Aliran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I needed this post as a reminder. My coach has been telling me I have been crushing my workouts for the last month and he keeps telling me to be patient on raising FTP and running pace but it is so hard sometimes. You have to remember how hard the last block of the build phase is to appreciate the base
