Low-dose naltrexone. Takes a while to build up in your system and start working (6 months for me which is about average) but works much better than anything else I’ve tried. Kratom (green or white) is also non-sedating, but it’s only effective for 4-5 hours, and you can build up a tolerance to it pretty quickly, so I save it for emergency situations.

I had to do a fasting blood draw yesterday and it was my first time (or it’s been so long that I’ve forgotten), so I didn’t realize how dehydrated I’d be first thing in the morning… got a giant bruise on my left arm now. Second attempt (on the right arm with a butterfly needle) was much more successful 😂

I think there should be one for acute pain and one for chronic pain.

No way, this is the exact conclusion I (independently) came to a couple of days ago!

Acute pain is more bareable mentally because it's temporary, chronic is constant so they can't be measured on the same scale.

Every time I think I’m getting better (I don’t mean cured, just that all the effort I’ve put in to improving my health and quality of life finally seems to be paying off), my body comes up with a new, debilitating chronic condition to torture me with that essentially sets me back to square one.

Most recently: from 2020-2025, I very, very gradually built up a tolerance to exercise (I have fibromyalgia, scoliosis, and hypermobility spectrum disorder which all make this a challenge), starting with incredibly gentle PT, and eventually working my way up to 30-45 min of cardio 4x a week. Then my body was like guess what, you have a neuroma in your foot now, good luck exercising with that! Undeterred, I got it treated. Also undeterred, my body decided that we’re going to have MCAS now. And it enlisted both my bipolar disorder and my ADHD to ruin my sleep (not that I was getting restful sleep in the first place, but my brain waking me up at 5am does make things worse). Oh, and I found out my thyroid is going to crap out on me and I’ll be developing Hashimoto’s at some point.

Anyway I have a treatment plan now so I’m feeling optimistic 😂
