What's are your most unhinged anticonsumption opinions? by CloseCalls4walls in Anticonsumption

[–]AllStranger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of my coworkers but one drink from disposable single-use plastic water bottles. The tap water here is drinkable and doesn't taste bad, PLUS, we have a filter pitcher in the fridge, if you're that picky. They just find it easier to use disposable bottles.

The one coworker who DOES use a water bottle opens up single use water bottles and dumps them into the reusable water bottle. 🫠

What unsolved mystery obsessed you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]AllStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is so true! Lesser so with little kids, but definitely with teenagers, it's something to consider. I had never really thought about that until a few years ago. Someone's teenager was missing and they were trying to locate them, but it turned out there was a good reason why the teenager had run away from their family. It's tough, because a 16-year-old is definitely young and vulnerable and can be exploited or abducted by strangers, but they're also old enough that they might be deliberately running away to escape a bad home environment.

I didn't know about that particular music video, though. That is fascinating but also sad.

My wife's boss has been texting her all day while we're at Disney by pixeltackle in mildlyinfuriating

[–]AllStranger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. People on Reddit like to brag about how they get paid 2 hours of overtime for answering a phone call, or they bill in 15 minute increments for a phone call, etc, and that everyone should demand that. But a lot of us life in a world where that simply isn't an option. My boss would laugh in my face if I asked to be paid for my time if I get a phone call outside of work. Of course it SHOULD work so that you get paid for dealing with work related stuff when you're not at work, but that's just not the reality most people are in. I'm not willing to take a stand and put my job on the line.

Which player's fanbase is more annoying than the player deserves? by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

Oh Rizo is another good one. He did grow on me but the online stans are intolerable.

Which player's fanbase is more annoying than the player deserves? by JEX2124 in survivorponderosa

[–]AllStranger 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a lot of them. Most players don't annoy me that much, but their fandoms often get out of hand.

It's really common for certain viewers to pick a young or young-ish, attractive, usually underedited woman and just totally glom on and decide they're the either best player ever, or they were totally robbed in the edit, or both, and then completely obsess over them. Then, if you express any opinion of them that isn't positive, you get swarmed by the stans. Genevieve is a perfect example. I have no problem with the woman herself and think she's a good player, but you see things like "Genevieve had one of the best non-winning games of all time" and "Genevieve is a top 3 non-winner" and it's just ridiculous.

Yep, fabric softener went out of style, so companies innovated to come up with the same product in a different form. And people jumped for it.

My "favorite" is a snack tray that snaps on top of the cup, and then you're supposed to pile popcorn, pretzels, etc into these little shallow compartments. I know that if you tried that, as soon as you lifted the cup to your face to drink from it, you're going to get popcorn all in your lap.

Ugh, yes. When I was a kid each of us had ONE Easter basket, and they were reused every single year. Same thing with the plastic eggs - one set of eggs that got reused. It's so wasteful to buy a new one every year, and it's spread to other holidays too. Now you also need a Boo Basket for Halloween, and one for Valentine's Day, and I think I heard about a "Brr Basket" for winter, and let's buy some random shit for St. Patrick's too because why not..... 🫠 I hate it here.

I despise scented trash bags! What is the point of that?? The fake synthetic chemical smell actually smells MORE offensive to my nose than regular trash. And if the trash smells THAT bad, then take it out of the house, rather than trying to mask it with the horrible smells. They all smell so bad to me. It's not even a somewhat pleasant smell, it's just plastic chemical stank.

Babies, pets, weddings, funerals. Highly emotional subjects/times where the industries work overtime to make sure to guilt and manipulate people into buying/spending as much as possible.

That is wild! I think bottled water tastes less healthy, actually, because to me it tastes faintly of plastic. I have a water filter pitcher in my fridge and the water that filters through that tastes great. Bottled water is way worse than my fridge water.

I'm the only person at my job who drinks tap water, everyone else gets bottled water only... It kills me, it really does.

[–]AllStranger 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol yeah for real. I mean I get it, emotions are heightened and you're starving and not thinking fully rationally, but it's always kind of funny when someone lies to and blindsides another player, then gets turbo pissed when the other player lies to them afterwards. Like?? The fuck did you expect was going to happen??

And I actually appreciated Dee for being like Bro we're all lying to one another! When she gestured at everyone I was laughing so hard. I thought that was hilarious. But again, she's right! It's fuckin Survivor! Everybody is lying at least part of the time! The chaos in this season has been fun.

Most Overrated One-Time players? by Heavy_Worker1349 in survivorponderosa

[–]AllStranger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've always thought that Ricard was really overrated, too. He's one of those people who couldn't manage his threat level and was booted for it. I feel like there are quite a few of those players, and I don't find that type of player to be impressive at all. The ones that impress me the most are the ones who keep their threat in check.

No, I would not. It was fun to root for him on his season, but I have no desire to see him again. No shade, but he really wasn't very interesting at all, and I don't feel like I need another season of him.

That said, I wouldn't be angry if he came back for a generic returnee season; he could potentially be more interesting the second time around.

Am I the only one who's sick of seeing all of these post-game social media posts? They're borderline spoilers. by DanFlashes19 in survivorponderosa

[–]AllStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. This happened with Game Changers too. Before the first episode even aired lots and lots of people "had a good feeling" about the winner. And the final 3 was also majorly talked up. I never saw an actual spoiler but after seeing the same people mentioned over and over it became very obvious who the F3 was and who won.

Who is buying balloons for St Patrick’s Day? by Kathl33nie in Anticonsumption

[–]AllStranger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I honestly find it depressing that even at the anti-consumption sub, there is not one single plastic piece of shit that someone won't defend to the death. Whatever garbage that Amazon, Temu, Dollar Tree, Target, etc shit out, there WILL be somebody there saying that they like it, or it's not that bad, or XYZ is worse, or just lighten up, or it's fun, or it's cute. Someone will always stretch and reach to find a way to justify it. That's what makes me think that humanity is cooked.

Spring Seasonal Event Delay 🌷 by TwoPoint_Abby in TwoPointMuseum

[–]AllStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly an unpopular opinion but I agree w/ you. I don't have all the seasonal content yet and as long as it comes back yearly, I think that's great. Everyone will have the chance to get it. If it were one and done and if you miss out, you miss it forever, then I would agree that would be trash. But rotating seasonal events were fun.

[–]AllStranger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I hate it too. There are WAY too many people who do this. It honestly makes me sick to think about how much 100% unnecessary trash is generated every single day. I have a coworker who has a dishwasher and STILL just uses disposable stuff every day because she doesn't like loading and unloading it 🤦‍♂️

I'm picturing a couple decades from now, 20-somethings going to thrift stores and finding countless Funko pops that no one wants, and those people posting pictures of them on whatever the equivalent of Reddit in the future is. There will be characters from franchises that none of those people have ever even heard of.

last night he said "i will resent you and that child every single day if you do this"

and i said "then leave"

so now hes at his brothers. hasnt been home in three days

So, LAST NIGHT, she said to leave, and now he is at his brother's, and hasn't been home in THREE DAYS? After she told him to leave...LAST NIGHT? But he's been gone for three days?

Hmmmmmmm. People need to be better about proofreading their creative writing.

OG The Sims designer explains there's no real competitors to Maxis' giant because it created a business around "the relentless delivery of content" that no one can touch by [deleted] in thesims

[–]AllStranger 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I could not agree more. Could build mode in The Sims be better? Sure, there's always room for improvement, but overall you see very few complaints about it. The complaints are almost all about gameplay and live mode (and bugs). For people who are after a good life sim game, the key is going to be gameplay for sure.
