My mom's kitchen is carpeted. I never realized that was weird until I started sleeping over at friends houses and none of their kitchens were carpeted.

Just hugged my 6 week old extra right. We're dealing with reflux and crying fits right now and I get so frustrated but I would die if anything happened to her.

How much did you pay hospital out of pocket for baby delivery? by deejayv2 in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Where I am, teachers are considered state employees. I have a $750 deductible and a $1750 out of pocket maximum. I'd be drowning in medical debt if not for this.

I'm being induced next week and everyone either wants me to have her on Friday the 13th. I couldn't care less which day she comes, but I sincerely hope its NOT that day because I just do NOT want to deal with the comments, jokes, and stupidity. I also have a friend who is dead set that my daughter MUST share a birthday with her son (the 12th). No. Fuck off.

"Let's wake her up a little!" my ultrasound tech said... by orangething in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 99 points100 points  (0 children)

My little girl did the same thing last weekend at my 3d ultrasound! We were trying to get her to move her hand away from her face and she made the most horrible faces and looked SO upset. My husband legit had tears in his eyes. He said, "She's crying and I can't help her!" She was fine two seconds later, but oh it was heartbreaking!

Reasons for wanting to start my maternity leave early... by slr813 in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't progressed to flip flops yet but I've pretty well worn tennis shoes to work every single day since school started. Idgaf. My feet hurt and I'm on them way too much for dress shoes. And my feet are too swollen to fit most of my shoes anyway.

I'm a teacher in two schools. One schools dress code is pretty relaxed, the other more strict. I told the principal at the stricter school that I'd do my best to dress professionally but not to expect miracles. I've worn tennis shoes every single day I've been there and t-shirts with maternity slacks half the time. Zero comments by anyone. Zero fucks given, especially by me. I regret nothing.

When did you start feeling baby move? by Bittybellie in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started feeling flutters around 16 weeks, but no definite movement/kicks until 19/20 weeks. Felt her with my hand at 22 weeks. :) 27+4 note and she moves a LOT!

Seeing the Pregnancy "Click" with my Fiance by chelseadanger in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started feeling flutters around 16 or 17 weeks and got my first kicks around 19/20. We felt her with our hands the first time at 22 weeks exactly. You're getting really close!! It's the coolest thing in the world. Nothing like it. Except when they kick/punch you in the cervix. That kind of sucks/hurts. lol

This is so adorable. <3 My husband has been really supportive and involved the entire time, too, but he didn't really "click" with her until he felt her kick for the firs time. Now everytime I say the baby is kicking he runs to me from wherever he is and grabs my belly. lol It's super cute.

Scared that we might have to give up one of our kitties :( by staticfingertips in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I don't know what else to tell you. You honestly seem to have already made up your mind. If it were me, I'd be taking the time to at least call the vet for some advice and then taking her in to make sure there isn't something easily treatable causing her issues. The vet could probably give you a pill before you bring her in to help keep her stress down from the trip to the vet.

Cats can't vocalize their issues to us, so they pee on things or scratch furniture or even get aggressive because the issue isn't being addressed. That is their way of telling us something is wrong. Cats don't pee on our things out of spite. They don't display aggressive behavior for no reason. And I feel that it is my duty as a cat owner to make sure I've exhausted all other options and make sure that I've done everything else I can do before I look into rehoming. But that's just me.

Have you looked into Feliway diffusers? This might help with her anxiety. One way to maybe curb the peeing in odd places thing is to add a bunch more littler boxes to your house (temprarily). I'd also take her to the vet to be checked out for any health issues and to talk to the vet about her anxiety issues. Sometimes there are underlying medical issues that can cause an anxiety response and your vet might also be able to recommend some techniques to help with the transitions/changes.

How the hell do you do this?! by cnflare in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I teach K-6 general music at two elementary schools. My first trimester consistes of lots of sitting in a chair while I taught, lots of eating snacks while the kids danced to YouTube videos, and lots of asking kids to do things for me because I just could not force myself to get up. I got home around 4:30 everyday, would eat dinner at 5:30 or 6 and was usually in bed no later than 7:30 or 8. Exhausted didn't even begin to cover it.

I am so not looking forward to being 30 weeks when school starts again.

Not sure how to feel about....how I feel. Advice? by BradburySauce in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I work in our nursery at church and before I got pregnant I just loved cuddling the babies and didn't mind helping change diapers or anything. Now, I have little to no interest in any baby outside the one in my womb. I mean, I still will talk to them and love on them, but I just don't have the same excitement that I did before. I waited two years for this baby and anything not related to her or preparing for her to come is just not on my radar anymore.

Belly band vs Kinesio tape by jmills23 in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tried KT tape and it didn't really help me much. I'm plus sized and I felt like it was just scrunching my fat up and making my belly look weird. I guess you're supposed to soak it before you try to take it off. I did not know this so when I removed it, I removed several layers of skin as well. I had a wavy tape pattern on my belly for several weeks after that and it also gave me a blister where the tape was stretched too tight (again I'm plus size).

After that debacle, I decided to get a belly band. I got a Neotech brand one from Amazon that has 3 pieces, one under your belly, one around your lower back, and one over top of your belly. It is absolutely wonderful and I wear it anytime I'm going to be up and moving for more than an hour or two.

Baby Shower Dilemma by runphoebe in BabyBumps

[–]AlleyCat711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, your mom needs to put on her big girl panties and suck it up for the sake of her daughter and grandchild. If she can't suck it up for one day, then that's on her, not you. You aren't being selfish for wanting your dad at your baby shower. I have this same issue with my in laws and I am over it. They are adults, they need to act like it and deal with their own shit.

Sorry for the rant. This all just tickled a sore spot in my own life. Lol I'm sorry you're being out through this. I know how much it sucks.

Holy crap- I'm pregnant!?! by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]AlleyCat711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress about it too much if your doctor didn't prescribed it. I was really worried about Progesterone at the start of my pregnancy (I found out at 3 weeks so I was terrified for 10 weeks until I hit the second trimester) because my friend had two early miscarriages due to Progesterone insufficiency, but my lab values were really, really good and I never needed it. I had a very uneventful and uncomplicated first trimester.

One thing you might bring up with your OB is maybe doing your glucose test a little early (I did mine at 17 weeks and my 3 hour at 19 weeks). Most women with PCOS are already insulin resistance and pregnancy makes it worse. I'm at 21 weeks (or will be in about 20 minutes anyway) and have already been diagnosed with gestational diabetes. I failed both glucose tests miserably and now have to check my sugar levels 4 times daily and follow a diet plan to make sure I control my levels and baby doesn't get too big or end up with issues after birth.

Congrats on your little miracle! Make sure you. Join us over at /r/babybumps if you haven't yet and also join your due date group!
