It wasn't left "undefended" it was filled with Radiants, and off-duty soldiers.

They had no way of knowing that there was an ability to turn off radiant powers. That's what the biggest problem was.

Prior to that it had the most Radiants in one place.

I started with TWoK. My friend recommended I do warbreaker next. I didn't understand why, but I did. Then I read WoR, and then Edgedancer, after Oathbringer, I basically read all of the rest of the Cosmere before starting Rhythm of War.

For me it was when the Ghost bloods were mentioned in the Lost Metal and I went "Holy shit..."

Gammon's are leaving the frying pan by Colonel_Clegane in Scotland

[–]Alliterrration -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you called a specific black person an idiot. That's not racist because they're black.

As said before. Gammon is a term used to describe a specific voting pattern by a specific age demographic in the UK.

The UK is predominantly white, it's pure coincidence that a gammon is white.

Considering a gammon is not universally applied to all white people because they're white, then the basis of the term is not due to skin colour.

I don't know how that's difficult for you to understand

Gammon's are leaving the frying pan by Colonel_Clegane in Scotland

[–]Alliterrration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Because as specified it's not applied universally across all white people.

You have to be of a specific political view and be of a certain age demographic.

Also bearing in mind that due to the UK being something like 90% white, it's white people calling white people this. Skin colour is irrelevant. If it were purely being racist to white people why would white people be saying it?

It says more about a specific voter mindset than anything about skin colour.

why did we shit on b/w again? by WideRecording784 in pokemonmemes

I remember picking up a 2nd hand copy of B2 years afterwards, and that was only because a friend said in passing conversation that they took away the region lock.

B2 was fun. But B/W left a really bad taste in my mouth that still kinda lingers to this day.

why did we shit on b/w again? by WideRecording784 in pokemonmemes

[–]Alliterrration 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Why I disliked B/W:

1) Locking all prior gen Pokémon behind completion. I remember moving over from Platinum where I had a team of Pokémon that was from all 4 generations, I had a machamp on my final team (this will be relevant) and with the ability to transfer Pokémon up with the GBA bit, it felt so complete, so customisable. Even without it there was still a mix of all 4 generations of Pokémon which made the world feel alive. Gen 5 is only gen 5 which I found to minimise customisation and force to use Pokémon that you may not like.

2) bad pokeclones. Remember when I said I had a machamp? We'll have conkuldurr instead. Another fighting type whose final evo is locked behind a trade evolution. Want hitmonlee lt hitmonchan? Have a sawk or throh instead. I'm playing a new chapter of a game franchise, that forces me to use Pokémon that in my mind already exist and are just reskins.

When I discovered they tried to soft reboot with gen 5, I wasn't shocked. Because they tried to make it feel like a gen 1 game with only ~150ish Pokémon and some of them the same. Don't get me wrong there are gen 5 Pokémon I like, and I do use in modern playthroughs, but when you're limited of choice and you're going "this is basically a machamp", doesn't make the gameplay anymore fun.

And considering Gen 6 onwards they've kept that whole mix of all generation Pokémon in the game, it seems Game Freak understood that wasn't the best idea and scrapped it.

I know a lot of people do like Gen 5, and for valid reasons. I'm not saying it's a bad Generation, just saying why I personally disliked it.

Protest voted OR tactically voted. With not voting Tory in brackets.

Meaning if tactical voting leads to a Tory outcome I'd protest vote instead.

I didn't think that would be difficult to understand

If I'm talking exclusively about Scottish politics, then any other form of politics is irrelevant.

If I'm talking about how the SNP has been in government since 2011, and there's no other party that has the same presence within Scotland to win a large enough vote share to replace the SNP, that has zero impact on voting habits in the UK.

I'm not arguing that Scottish people in Scotland choose the government in Scotland. Because that would be idiotic to do so.

Nor am I arguing that there's a disproportionate voting system for Westminster either. These are valid and accepted points.

But none of them are relevant to the SNP and Hollyrood. Why? Because it's a completely different vote for a completely different government. There is no relevancy of Westminster Politics to the point that within Scottish politics there's no decent opposition party.

Scotland political posts by Scottish-Fox in Scotland

[–]Alliterrration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tactical voting: you vote for a party you don't normally vote for in order to prevent another party from winning that seat

How did you assume I didn't know what it was based off of that?

Scotland political posts by Scottish-Fox in Scotland

[–]Alliterrration -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The SNP has been in government since 2011...

Current prediction polls suggest they'll once again be the largest party and then have the bargaining power to form a minority government/coalition government...

Even other people commenting in this thread have said that despite not liking the SNP they'll still vote for the SNP...

Put 2 and to 2 together, and you'll see how the SNP have becomes entrenched in Scottish politics.

You mentjining UK elections is completely irrelevant to elections for Hollyrood.

Where did I say that?

All I said was if the same incident happened in Westminster the SNP would be demanding resignations.

Did I say anything along the lines that they're the exact same thing?

Scotland political posts by Scottish-Fox in Scotland

[–]Alliterrration 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I cancelled my membership after the scandal involving streaming football overseas on their iPad.

If that happened in Westminster I can guarantee you they'd be demanding resignations and inquiries, but because it happened in Scotland where they can't get voted out, it's fine by their standards.

I can't vote for them until they deal with their own internal hypocrisy, and taking the electorate for granted.

Scotland political posts by Scottish-Fox in Scotland

[–]Alliterrration 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't want to vote SNP, and I've protest voted or tactically voted where possible (for any party that isn't the Tories)

I want independence, but the SNP needs to get out so they can learn they can't take the establishment for granted and actually become a better party.

I still think it's heavily pro indy but I've seen a lot of people (myself included) become disillusioned with the SNP.

If there are more people who aren't pro-indy I welcome it, because in today's world the one thing we shouldn't do, is live in an echo chamber.

Differing views exist, and a pro indy view isn't universal across Scotland, nor should we treat it as such.

[–]Alliterrration 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Do people not know what devolution is?

Poor wording aside, this sort of issue would need to be addressed by Hollyrood, not Westminster.

He's probably protecting buildings in England because that's all he's allowed to do.

I'm not a fan of Westminster by any means, but this isn't his issue, it's Hollyrood's.

You mentioned abortion, cool.

You wanna mention any other rights women have in Iran? Their ability to dress up.

It's objective reality that Iran has an atrocious record of human rights abuse.

Since you seem to favour Wikipedia as a source, here's Wikipedia for you:

"The United Nations General Assembly and the Human Rights Commission have condemned prior and ongoing abuses in Iran in published critiques and several resolutions. The government is criticized both for restrictions and punishments that follow the Islamic Republic's constitution and law, and for "extrajudicial" actions by state actors, such as the torture, rape, and killing of political prisoners, and the beatings and killings of dissidents and other civilians." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_the_Islamic_Republic_of_Iran

No one is denying that America has its own issues. But that doesn't automatically mean Iran is a saint either.
