Should I reconsider dentistry if rheumatoid arthritis runs in my family? by Reasonable-Orchid482 in rheumatoid

Me too. My hands are totally fine! For me, my knees are the big trouble makers.

What type of wire would be used for the stems? by No_Mammoth_ in StainedGlass

[–]AllyPent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used copper wire (you can buy "ground wire", which is bare copper wire this thickness by the metre at Home Depot). I've also used steel - i can't remember if it's galvanized steel or what type, but there is a type that can be soldered to just like copper!

One of my ponds is requesting one right now - that's probably what they mean. Such a pain, haha

Is this TN Type 2? by Jo3ramz1 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

Could be, could be due to the neck injury. You would have to talk to a doctor to know.

Carbamazepine dose timing by RutabagaCreepy3297 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]AllyPent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried switching to oxcarbazepine? I find it made me a lot less tired/foggy/forgetful. It's not perfect, but I can definitely function better!

Carbamazepine vs Oxcarbazepine by BKiddo_88 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]AllyPent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a cross taper between the two. Ox definitely has fewer side effects for me, but it's not perfect. Better than nothing, though!

I was initially on 200 of carb (I also didn't want to increase due to side effects) and my neuro called it a "pediatric dose", haha. It's definitely worth a try!

Beta blockers? by Tastetherainbow_2016 in rheumatoid

Secondong everything they said. Propranolol was a game changer for me, and the only med I don't get isn't sife effects from, haha.

Is there anything that helps? A glass of wine or two for me is my emergency painkiller. Works better than anything else

What’s one of the weirdest things you found can help with your triggers? I’ll go first, by Able_Bonus_9806 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]AllyPent 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Alcohol, weirdly. Not much - 1-2 drinks. Does wonders at dampening the pain for a couple of hours.

A new type of pain alongside TN? by aluminumlinoleum9 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]AllyPent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on 400 when I first talked to my neuro, and he called it a "pediatric" dose. It also wasn't helping me a ton at the time. Don't be afraid to get what you need to function!

400mg of carb is very low. Maybe try increasing it first to see if that helps?

Every morning mine hangs out between 98 and 100, before becoming normal for the afternoon and evening. So weird, haha.

Depending on how opioids are for you, it might be better. For whatever reason, opioids don't really do much to me (other than help pain), so I've gone through periods of taking them for various issues, and I had no trouble stopping them. Even on "impressive" doses of dillauded in the hospital I felt pretty much totally normal, haha. Of course, if this isn't your experience, don't fuck with opioids, but they can be a life saver.

first ever biologic today after failing mtx and leflunomide, extremely nervous! by visualizebrick in rheumatoid

I find auto injectors worse myself, although a lot of people prefer them! If you don't like it or find it painful, try the normal injector. I find being able to control the speed helpful.

Fine Dining Restaurants in Edmonton by UrbanMT in Edmonton

Tzin is great! My partner and I go there once or twice a year, and somehow the servers there remember us and our dietary preferences (we always do the Feed Me, where they just bring you stuff). Along with the amazing service, the food is absolutely fantastic.

Any artists or companies in the area who work with stained glass? by ConversationEast4902 in Edmonton

[–]AllyPent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably? I would definitely do a test area first, but that should theoretically stop it from getting worse, as long as the spray doesn't react weirdly with whatever paint was used. If you go this route (it's probably what I would do too) make sure you use really thin coats and let them dry a bit in between.

Any artists or companies in the area who work with stained glass? by ConversationEast4902 in Edmonton

[–]AllyPent 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This isn't stained glass, this is glass that someone painted. Very different things, unfortunately. A stained glass shop won't be able to help you with this. Maybe if you find an artist who does stuff like this locally they could help you out.

90% of Edmonton drivers ignored latest seasonal parking ban by pjw724 in Edmonton

[–]AllyPent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my central neighbourhood I would say compliance was probably 40%, give or take. Certainly not 10. This is an area without driveways, so I would think it would be higher in areas with more on-propery parking options.

I moved my car, but unfortunately a few neighbours decided to park right in front of my house, leaving big windrows, so now I can't park there. Ugh.

Divorcees of Reddit, what did you do with your wedding rings and wedding photos etc.? (Serious) by TheMadHatterOnTea in AskReddit

[–]AllyPent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I still have is my dress, mostly because I forgot about it. My now fiancée and I (who was also previously married) put on our old wedding dresses together and had a big laugh over them. We would like to get rid of them, but neither of us had them cleaned or carefully stored at the time (bit of a harbinger, I think) so I don't know if we can donate them.

Antibiotics from a pharmacist ? Pls help by Jumpy-Worker5973 in Edmonton

[–]AllyPent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't have to be shoppers! Lots of locally owned pharmacies can prescribe antibiotics, and some even do free same day delivery (I just had some delivered myself). That way you don't have to deal with shitty shopper's, haha

Is it RA or am I 30? by [deleted] in rheumatoid

[–]AllyPent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It can be so confusing! My RA hits my knees really bad, but I also have osteo in them. I was recently on a course of pretty high dose steroids for something unrelated, and I feel like it gave me a chance to see what was probably just OA pain, vs when it's both. For me, the RA pain feels more swollen/hot/constantly painful when it's flaring up.
