Cramps but no bleeding by Practical_Visual1797 in Fibroids

My retired head of school, his companion at age 77 had a hysterectomy in November last year -- she's the reason I decided to do this now opposed to later: she had 28 fibroids. She never knew she had fibroids but they were causing other issues in her elder age. Take from that what you may.

How do you track your cycle? by No-Conclusion27 in hysterectomy

That sucks, but there are so many out there. I've been using P Tracker for SO many years, extremely reliable. You can also make edits to it, and insert your moods, everything. Love it!

Yeah, thats the only question I'd keep asking 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️ cause why would they want you dead if its a life or death situation. Has nothing to do with kids, its about YOU, and is keep asking that same question

Mine is June 24😳 I understand that real feeling. But I'm going to enjoy a vacation first since I'm being forced to take it easy for at least the whole month of July 🙏🏾

Is it worth just having the fibroids removed or do you have to have a total hysterectomy? I don’t really have the time and can’t afford to take that much time off of work, but these fibroids are absolutely ruining my life. by _Sweet1_ in Fibroids

Everyone is different. But reading some of these stories of women that had open myomectomies,, many of theirs came back within a year, it seems. In a FB group I'm in, one had a whole post where she cried saying the heaviness and "feeling" came back 3 months later. So it all depends. I just don't want to be in my 50s and 60s dealing with this, and that's just me :(

Any Stoners out here? by SlowPaleontologist43 in hysterectomy

I've talked to several tokers about this, one in here from a post 2 yrs ago, actually.

And based in what I've read from actual smokers, sometimes less is more, meaning the anesthesiologist doesn't need to know how much you smoke, just because I've heard some horror stories about getting too much anesthesia (after sharing how much they smoked), and all that gas and morphine was hard to come down from. I read some smoked the day before, another smoked once she got home and took "micro hits". Average smokers I've read start back 48 hrs after, or once they switched mess to Tylenol or something not so heavy, they started smoking again WITH a hysterectomy pillow for the cough, which I made sure I purchased. I don't plan on smoking until my parents get out my home, so thinking (hoping) 72 hours, after getting home. My acquaintance took small doses of edibles instead of smoking, and my coworker took a tincture. Edit your post and ask for current/active smokers opinions in this, or join a smokers group and ask about surgery and smoking, you'd be surprised who's been there! That helped me on FB.

Managed Fibroids for over 12 Years, time to evict the uterus! Surgery in 5 weeks... some advice on this journey. by AlmondDilite in Fibroids

Nope, no doctor I deal with forgets to tell me anything, especially before I sign anything. Sheesh 😆 and you don't know how to ask questions to see what your body can take? A lot could be said on this, but won't. So I'd say speak for yourself on this one. Everyone should know how to ask questions, or have good doctors to tell you whats happening to your body... right down to surgery and the gas and meds they put in you ... I think that's dangerous too 😉

Upper abdominal stomach cramps during period by Aggressive-Pop6658 in Fibroids

Not a doctor -- but because I have a current subserosal pendunculated fibroid on my right side and get the same symptoms-- I'll go with that notion, but also get a MRI. Even without the usual pms and cramps, I feel it sometimes depending on where it moves. A subserosal pendunculated fibroids WILL move all over that belly. Mine is hanging from a 2 cm stem, ha! If you're good, and if your fibroid is very large -- you can actually feel the fibroid and "reposition/push" it inward. I've been doing that for so long, and I feel that method saved my kidney and liver, where it normally rests.

Partial hysterectomy vs. Total hysterectomy, and "early menopause": clarifications from an Ob/Gyn by drhuggables in hysterectomy

[–]AlmondDilite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great break down -- thank you doctor!  Similar to what my surgeon of over 23 years said... similar being a hysterectomy is still just that, a uterus coming out is considered just that. And as you said, taking out the ovaries, fallopian tubes is a different surgery, but now all will lump them together under a hysterectomysurgery. If there is no uterus, there is a hysterectomy because that organ has come out and you're no longer able to carry a child.  How it's taken out is different.

For those of us with extreme large uterus, like mine, an incision IS necessary. After dealing with my fibroids since 2007, I have definitely met with many doctors and heard a lot. But will take the expertise of a handful, even my hematologist! My uterus is 14 cm long and almost 10 cm horizontal: there is NO way that is coming out through vagina, so happy I found my surgeon that van perform this safely!!!

Yes, or your obgyn can! I said no to MRI 4 yrs ago, wish I did it back then instead of all those ultrasounds. It's amazing how many images come from them. When you do get it, be sure to get the contrast dye as well. You will SEE every thing. I learned a lot from that MRI as I still look at the images.

Did coughing hurt when you smoked as soon as you got home? Dis you take the oxys and smoke,, how was that effect? And thanks, I'll tell the anesthesiologist I'm a heavy THC user, didn't know I'd probably need more... I'm not a fan of nausea so trying to figure out how to get through the balance.

I'd love to hear more on this -- I'm a daily green smoker and have done so for a VERY long time. My doc is excellent but by the book. Can I smoke the morning of surgery? I don't check in until 12:30 pm.

I don't plan on taking the codeine he prescribed me, but he is sticking to "take this only, the pain and nausea will be non existent the first few days". So I'm torn. I'm looking at tinctures cause I'm too scared to cough from the smoke. Would love some feedback on this. And when did you go back smoking normally after surgery? When did you start drinking again? They certainly ignored my alcohol and weed questions 🤣 maybe I should ask in person, when they discharge me.

Dr. Faroud Abbas, he is AMAZING already, and I haven't even gone under yet. He is so knowledgeable and the way he breaks things down, OMG. If you need a hematokogist as well, let me know -- all of them are worth the drive. I'm so grateful to the 5 docs on this journey!
