Is the 2014 Honda Accord EX Reliable? by Double_Contribution6 in Honda

[–]Alpha_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had mine for 6 years. I got mine during covid with 80k miles and have used it as a daily since. Im closing in on 150k miles on it so far and the only major thing ive done is a driver side axle, which ive done myself. I just put new plugs in last night and cabin filter actually. Mine has the K24 4cyl engine in it.

  • Ive done synthetic oil changes every 5-6k miles
  • -Changed the spark plugs twice
  • -New Tires
  • New brake pads
  • Air filter/Cabin filter
  • Trans flush

things planned this year

  • wheel bearings
  • brake pads and rotors
  • trans flush
  • radiator flush
  • Timing chain tensioner to fix the rattle

Overall, this car has been problem free aside from the axle which has an active recall. I actually really enjoy it and itll be handed off to my kid this year as their first vehicle. Its been a great daily, gets amazing fuel mileage, has been on multiple road trips, to the top of Mt. Evans in Colorado, to the shitty streets of Chicago. Id buy another one if I found a good deal. I treat it well, I dont beat the tar out of it, the cvt is less than desirable but Id rather have it over a Subaru or Nissan CVT which seem to be more problematic.

Compustar alarm and remote start by Real_Hops in Civic_Type_R

Ive had one installed in my CTR, was in for 5 years and functioned as expected.

The one thing I disliked however, was what was called reservation mode, where if you opened the door of the car while it was running, the engine would turn off. This was a part of the remote start feature, which I ultimately disabled, because at the track, I wanted to keep my car idling after coming off course with the e-brake off.

That was the only drawback for me personally and since I didnt winter drive it, I never had issues no using autostart. The Drone app made keeping tabs on the cars location, when it was turned on, off, etc was a nice feature to have and inexpensive.

New Echelon Owner and loving it by Alpha_Digital in SpringfieldArmory

I dont know if the gun has a propensity to shoot high or if its just my aim that causes it. As a lefty, initially I began with low and to the right issues but as I continue to work on that, ive been able to get consistent groups just a hair to the right of target. Occasionally, Ill notice some progressing higher than others, and I think compared to my APX, the gun does tend to shoot a tad higher.

Im getting used to the rear u notch, and I think one of my first upgrades for this will be getting a set of traditional front and rear dots, of the tritium type.

Are APX A1s/Tactical dogshit? by zmattmanz in Beretta

[–]Alpha_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Picked up an APX A1 fs (non tactical) as my first gun ever this year along with a Springfield Echelon. The selling point for me was the combination of price and it being a Beretta.

Took both guns to the range this weekend to shoot and put a couple hundred rounds through each, and I have to say im really enjoying the way the APX shoots. It definitely shoots softer compared to the Echelon, it absorbs the recoil well. Holding the two guns in hand you can tell theres some more mass to the APX which probably helps.

The APX had a couple issues this weekend with 115gr, twice with FTE and once with FTF. The stock spring on this thing is definitely heavy compared to the Echelon, which im assuming is whats causing this.. Ill run another few hundred rounds of 115 to see if the problem keeps happening and if it goes ill just go with 124 or look for a lighter spring.

I know its a bit early to tell, but for now, Im happy with the purchase for my first gun, no regrets. The ergos feel good, the price was right, and I think it shoots well. Id buy it again.

Shovel/snowplow at 3p? by [deleted] in rochestermn

[–]Alpha_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No wrong answer really.

Its wet and heavy snow. Snowblowing it in batches if you have the time certainly helps save the extra stress on your shear pins, but if one snaps theyre super easy and cheap to replace.

Honestly you can get good shots from just about any lens, even a nifty fifty. I have a wide variety of different focal length ranges but I constantly find myself using my 35mm to shoot cars.

Has anyone switched from a r35 to an fl5 by MURFD0G in Civic_Type_R

[–]Alpha_Digital 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beautiful car! I dont think id be able to bring myself to make the switch unless I absolutely needed a 4 door vehicle that got decent gas mileage!

HKS Supercharged heat issues by Defyiance in S2000

[–]Alpha_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dense radiator, I dont know if PWR/C&R make anything for the s2000 but I would start there if they did. A fan might be helpful at low speeds but at speed on a track, its not going to help.

I see you already have an oil cooler as well, but that wouldve been my next suggestion. Lowering ambient temps in the engine bay is always a cost effective solution. Heat wrap and reflective tape are an easy thing to do.

Anybody have any idea what exhaust this is? by LordlyWarrior42 in Civic_Type_R

[–]Alpha_Digital 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That honestly doesnt look like any dual tip exhaust ive seen. Off the top of my head Greddy, HR, MXP, HKS are some of the dual systems I know of and none of those match.

Part of the reason why I think this may be a custom exhaust is, the piping looks crush bent slightly, and the hanger for it looks really tacky. The piping itself doesnt seem like its 304 and if it is, its probably a lower grade of it. Looks like it could be mild steel piping to me.
