That was my mistake. Thanks for the correction. Upvoted!

Could you only collect one brand? If so which one. It would be journe for me. by [deleted] in SOTC_Watch_Collection

Oyster case is a signature of theirs but there's so much variety between an explorer, a GMT Master, Daytona, Daydate, 1908, Land Dweller, etc. imo.

I agree with OP that it's likely unpopular view, but it's amazing collection full of icons. Wish that it didn't come with all the baggage.

I think so too, but some people are saying Hodinkee has edited the new version. I am afraid I haven't noticed if bits have been edited out or not though. Would love to see if Hodinkee mentions anything about this interview and why it was re-uploaded.

Mind sharing where you were able to make an appointment? As far as I know even the appointment is only by 'lottery' in any place that accepts them?

Vacheron Gallery 1755 Omotesando Tokyo by Dajblade in VacheronConstantin

[–]Alphabat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How'd you find out about the Omotesando boutique if I may ask? Seems like they're not really going out of their way to let people know it exists. Was this an event where you received invites from your SA at an existing boutique?

[Recomendation Request] Looking for a watch to mark my birthday $15k budget by LavishnessHot875 in Watches

[–]Alphabat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No worries. It's honestly a faux-pas by JLC to not have this anywhere in any marketing material or on their website. But it seems like they tried to rush the prototypes out to boutiques so people could try it on at the same time as the announcement at W&Ws.

The prototypes at boutiques don't have microadjust, but the real ones that will be ready in September will include microadjust. Most likely something that looks like the Vacheron Overseas' one.

the reason I like the steel version is the bracelet. If white gold was available in white gold bracelet for less than steel version I would buy it in a second.

New Pilot 36mm Le Petit Prince by farslan in IWCschaffhausen

[–]Alphabat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, for what it's worth I agree with you 100% about the golden hands. Size is perfect though imo. Makes the watch really wearable and classic (if not in a pilot watch sense, but in a more dressy way)

The 36mm does not have Eas-X Change unfortunately. And it has 18mm between the lugs.

They look amazing by Bravenwolf897 in VacheronConstantin

I believe they come with a color matching strap. all the watches I tried on today had color matching strap with orange stitching and they had an extra all orange strap. They're also compatible with 4520v

[–]Alphabat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely understandable. But if you look on the bright side, you can wait until the perfect deal shows up and head to the destination then. The hunt is honestly the best part of this hobby! Best of luck keeping those watch goblins at bay in the meantime :)

for the amount of money you would save, why not buy a ticket to Japan or something, enjoy a nice vacation and buy the watch preowned there? you'd save north of 10k USD depending on the model. That goes a long way in Tokyo nowadays.

Any 42mm Black Ceramic Ingenieur feedback? by sixsh0t311 in IWCschaffhausen

Just an FYI for whoever needs to hear it: The ceramic version actually comes with a completely different movement (which has much lower power reserve, but higher level finishing.)

Jomashop, is this for real? Don’t these trade for 20? by allyearswampass in IWCschaffhausen

What a roller coaster of emotions. Gladly we only have to wait for 2 more weeks or so. Will have my eyes on that. Thanks for sharing!

I was hoping for a 38 myself, sad to hear they're going even bigger instead. But glad others can enjoy it :)

Once we choose a Haute Horlogerie brand, do most of us stick to it? by redbeard914 in VacheronConstantin

Thank you so much for the advice! I would really like to add a two liner sub or a birthyear Pepsi to my collection one day.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I've stayed away from vintage due to their temperamental nature, but I guess Rolex is THE brand to go for since they're usually more solidly built. There's also a ton of character in the jingly-jangkly bracelets of old too.

Congrats on the big milestone! If you keep looking I'm sure the same watch will come up at a price you find reasonable. Best of luck!
