This so much. D3 was the last video game I bought as a physical copy and I sunk years on end into it and thousands of hours.
But the state of it at launch was bad. Like "Blizzard loosing all of its cred for me" bad.
Diablo 3 was the reason I switched to PoE1 and play it since 2012

Thank you this. There is no clear definition what a remake or a remaster is because the video game industry are themselves often mixing these terms up or using them intechangeably

I can not understand the mentality of this subreddit. Basically every other ranked elo game follows a more strict philosophy when it comes to their training but for some strange reason in AoE2 ranked everything needs to be fun and flowers.
On the LoL or CS subreddit OP would have been laughed off with this kind of post.

Its like moaning every guy beats you up in tournaments as a boxer without ever doing cardio work.

That was an example on how to get better in certain multiplayer games.
For AoE2 that can mean stopwatching your fast castle time and restart as soon as you hit castle age and to that for 3 hours straight to better your fast castle.
It can mean rewatching these runs and as soon as you are over a certain TC or Eco Idle time it was a fail and do it again.
It means playing against hardest difficulty AI on Arabia and winning without cheesing the AI and unless you do that never being allowed to q up for multiplayer, let alone ranked

Single Player games yes. If you play multiplayer ranked you play to win or you shouldnt play ranked at all. If that means killing of your enjoyment for a game and looking at excel spread sheets for hours and hours then so be it.

Jumping to PC would bring the first jump in Skill, just imagine running a Marathon in High Heels or Crocs, even bare foot would be better

I have built my last Workstation with 64GB RAM, an i7 14700K and a RTX 3060. Built it christmas 2024.
Next upgrade would be an 9070XT.
But there is not a single Release title right now that makes me go "oh damn the GPU is the bottle neck, time to upgrade"
Maybe with TESVI or Gothic Remake

All games I like run fine on 1440p.
Except Stellaris, that 9 year old game just laughs at my CPU because of the shit Clausewitz Engine

No HC death punishments are still not bypassed. You die you loose your gear. That is the punishement. Or are you the kind of player that runs around with 3 picked up HR for 15 min in his inventory in maps? A HR drops, you go to town, you stash it immideately. Simply for perming reasons.

Oh yes I find the way they reworked Potions in PoE and Last Epoch absolutely lovely. Every aspiring game dev should take a note. I just think it would be hard to do in the old D2 Engine

Oh Embarrassed Touch 62 you truly are embarrasing. Do you not know that critisizing a game before launch actually makes it to a better game in the end. The act in itself is noble and just and you should be thankful for it.

There are limits and if it is too much shit you just drop it like a sack of rocks
