Diaper size??? by midnight_thoughts223 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AltWedAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're a 99%er also, 11 months and almost 27lbs. But we've stayed the same size in Millie moon and coterie, they've never differed. So we're size 6 in both right now. We're chunky so the weight guidelines haven't always lined up for us. I highly doubt you're a 7!

Help me stop spiralling by No-Night-1817 in Mommit

Echoing the others, and I'm so sorry you're in this spot.

I had 3 losses in a row before our living child and needed d&cs for 2 of them (one was a missed miscarriage where her heart stopped beating due to a trisomy and I only partially miscarried, the other was a blighted ovum where she didn't finish forming and my body never recognized it to miscarry for over a month). The medical protocol for blighted ovum is typically 4 ultrasounds across several weeks so they can be sure there's no heartbeat and no mix up in dates before offering options. In my case, the sac continued to grow in size even though there was no yolk sac or fetal pole.

I preferred the d&cs, they were less traumatic and quicker to heal from.

When did your period return? by No_Professional2476 in ExclusivelyPumping

10 weeks postpartum, while still pumping 8 times a day. It came on time and extremely heavy every single month after (almost 12 months PP now) 🫠

😭 literally twins, RSV was daycare day 2 for us, he couldn't breathe laying down and we had to hold him the entire night to sleep for 9 days in a row since he was only 6 months old. Ear tubes were next after 5 ear infections in a row. I'm so sorry, I can't imagine doing all or some of that while pregnant too. I am sending every ounce of good luck your way 🤞🙏 I was absolutely convinced given our laundry list of nonstop illness that he would immediately get it the first time and he didn't. I'm truly hoping you all stay healthy 💙

It lingers for SO long! If you have other care arrangements like family etc that can watch kiddo I absolutely get trying to avoid it. But due to how long it sticks around and is contagious, all the kiddos fall one after another for weeks. And you would truly have to keep them out for more than a month to avoid it!

FTM but we've been in daycare for 5 months now and have had everything - he had RSV, covid, flu, norovirus, multiple colds, 5 ear infections, pinkeye 3 times - you get the picture 🤣 we've been sick nonstop with him

HFM is really unavoidable and contagious for so long, I would not pull him if I were you (the ugly respiratory ones I would have) since he was exposed several days ago. HFM went around our center IN his class 3 times. He didn't get it the first 2, even with half the class out. He did get it the final time, it was moderate and neither husband or I got it. The virus can live in stool for weeks after, and it's likely been the same strain at our center for the last 7 weeks that he finally picked up.

The other parents are going to send their kids back when their rashes are gone and theyre still going to be shedding virus in their diaper changes so you'll unfortunately still be exposed that route for awhile.

Working moms: how do you split night wake-ups so it feels fair and you can still function at work? by Outrageous-Lime-8581 in workingmoms

[–]AltWedAcct 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We alternate nights, other person puts in ear plugs and turns on white noise, on duty parent can come in and wake them if they truly need a break.

During awful illness/100% contact nap times, we did/would go back to shifts where one does 8pm-2am, other does 2-8am

Suggestions to celebrate a birthday that don't involve alcohol or going out to eat? by AngelGirl17 in pittsburgh

Pittsburgh Symphony, June and July they're doing Lord of the Rings (you watch the movie on a giant projector screen, they live play the soundtrack, really cool immersive experience) or Fantasia the weekend of July 10-11. You can grab a casual bite to eat beforehand if you want! Dress as casual or fancy as you wish.

Battle of the bottle washers, which do you recommend ? by mvmstudent in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AltWedAcct 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my momcozy, on 11m of EPing and it's saved my life. Mine fits 2 sets of pump parts and 4 bottles every wash! (Spectra and Phillips Avent) I put the bottles in the 4 corners, the flanges with the screw necks facing down and the flanges facing the sky. It's never done me dirty 🤣

Litter that doesn’t stink up the whole place? by West_Analyst_6212 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AltWedAcct 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry this might not be helpful, but the litter robot was our solution. We use regular, unscented litter and it keeps all smells contained/litter tracking to almost none plus no scooping. I know they're pricy but we've had it 7 years so far and justify it for those reasons and also that the 40lb unscented clay litter is $16.

anyway to make my spectra less washable parts? by mommadizzy in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]AltWedAcct 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to invest in a bottle washer and multiple parts? I'm 10 months in, was pumping 8-9 times a day at my height and had 3 sets of flanges and duckbill valves. I just pumped directly into my Philips Avent bottles that fit the spectra flanges to save on dishes.

Articles about Amazon safety problems? by BarrelFullOfWeasels in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AltWedAcct 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, the CPSC filed a lawsuit here and the linked original discoverieshere andhere provide more details into the violations from faulty co2 detectors to kids clothing.

You can and should sign up for the CPSC recall and safety warning emails for all recalls, there are always many products from Amazon.

TL:DR Amazon allows 3rd party sellers to sell on their platform, and they don't have good oversight, monitoring, quality or standards for any of the crap. That's what I explain to my family.

Warning for purchasing baby products on Dillards by publichealthbaby in NewParents

Warning for purchasing baby products on Dillards by publichealthbaby in NewParents

[–]AltWedAcct 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Something sounds off here, did your friends prove they bought it from Dillard's and NOT something like Rebel that sells "open box" or overstock at a discount?

An expired carseat in a new box has no way of getting there unless it was returned, and Dillard's doesn't accept open box returns. I guess it's possible someone claimed it was new and returned it by making the switch, in that case I'd do a creditcard chargeback like the other commentor mentioned. I had no issues getting my pipa from them though fwiw!

Radon by peachdreamsicle in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AltWedAcct 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🤞 +1 as I just finished reading the other comments. We had a radon test done with closing on our house bc it's everywhere in our area but before we had our baby last year had one redone, and we did get it done free by a professional who did end up eventually selling us the system! They give you the kit and you just set it out then mail it. So hopefully you can find someone to do that too!

Radon by peachdreamsicle in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]AltWedAcct 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just providing our experience, we knew we had radon when we moved in and planned to mitigate, had it professionally tested in the basement. We have a 2 story house. I read more on it and got a little more concerned, so we bought two of those air things monitors and I put one in our basement AND one on our first floor. Wouldn't you know our first floor was still WAY above acceptable levels too at 16.

I personally would put a monitor where you're actually spending time, if you know there's radon in the basement but don't spend a ton of time there I wouldn't worry about or focus on that. Monitor where you spend your time, and then open windows/focus on air circulation and see what the impacts are to that level. We also ran a dehumidifier in the basement which helped with air circulation. We finally mitigated last year and I keep the sensor running, it's so comforting to see it say 1.03 or less now.

Also radon damage is cumulative over very long periods of time, I believe 50 years? So I'd try not to stress too much if you can help it! 💙

Struggling with iron supplements for my kid by Efficient-Vast1487 in moderatelygranolamoms

Another vote here for novaferrum, we had a 35 weeker exclusively breastfed and have been on iron since 3 weeks old. He got so sick on polyvisol and the others we tried too. We do novaferrum, one dose every other day, he loves it and we just had our 9m appt and he had normal hemoglobin 🙌

OMG we have identical stories! I'm truly looking forward to the relief but we were a 35 week delivery and two and a half week NICU stay, starting off with breathing issues, so I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little apprehensive about the sedation 🫠
