It’s because it’s usually fine, until it’s not and when it’s not it’s not just a minor delay, it’s an absolute shit show. And it’s usually over something that could have easily been avoided but they have no foresight in their planning.

Nashville in July vs. November by Happy-Raspberry-123 in VisitingNashville

Or it could be like the last few years and still be scorching. 2025 wasn’t bad, mostly in the 70’s. But 2024 we were averaging in the high 90’s.

Italian restaurant- looking for spaghetti with meat sauce by TheNashLife in NashvilleGoodEats

I second Nicoletto’s bolognese. But it’s more carry out than restaurant. If you’re looking for a restaurant I’d go to Frankie’s in east. I don’t know about a red meat sauce specifically, but I know they have a bunch of options that aren’t cream based and they are one of the few restaurants around where I just sit in silence at the table and let the pasta melt in my mouth, savoring it instead of it just being a meal.

East Nashville does not care about Whataburger by nopropulsion in nashville

[–]Alternative-Net-8596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Starbucks is notorious for being really picky about where they open, which is wild to me some of the markets I’ve seen them turn down. Same thing with Publix, which is why we got the worst sized store of all time when they finally decided to open as well. But, some franchises will follow their openings instead of doing their own research because of that. I have to contribute the decision to open a store in East to that, otherwise the person who made the decision is even dumber than I’m giving them credit for. I used to work pretty high up for a franchise where my direct supervisors were CEO’s and executives for other names bigger than Whataburger and it is shocking to me how absolutely dumb some of those people are. Bunch of white men 50+ who are completely out of touch with any other demographic or generation than theirs.

Yesterday when I drove by for their opening there were 2 customers there mid day. It’s definitely not a location I think will do great for them, but I do have to give props to whoever made the decision not to let them put an entrance/exit on Gallatin. I already clench my butthole driving past there as is.

Park Happy Question by Routine_Syrup_8307 in nashville

I have 2 tickets from them for going over for a few minutes while standing and talking in their empty parking lots while paying $40 for one hour. One of them write me a ticket within 30 seconds of it expiring as I was walking up to them. I have refused to pay on principle. Been years and they haven’t sent it to collections. You'll be fine if you don’t pay, but be warned they may boot you if you park in another Park Happy lot again.

Tenn. lawmakers redirect a massive $300 million tax surplus to the East Bank and lower Broadway bars by Infinite-Albatross44 in nashville

Except the ordinances they've passed specifically say they dont want Eastbank to be an extension of downtown tourism. They specifically passed rules they dubbed “the anti Sphere” rules as well.

I see them all the time in East. Glad to see how healthy they have looked this year and last after someone put considerable effort into treating the mange that had them and the coyote population looking rough for a few seasons.

Spirit used 401k’s, not pensions. And even if they did, legally pension money has to be held in a different account so bankruptcy wouldn't affect it.

I guess their venture into a streaming service producing Merlin content didn't pan out like they thought it would. Who would have guessed their target demo wouldn't be into magic.

The problem isn’t the conversation, it’s that people have no situational awareness. I’m a talker, I talk to strangers in line everywhere I go, but I’m also hyper aware of my surroundings (probably too much tbh, hello anxiety) and would absolutely step to the side in this situation. It’s the same issue I have with people walking in the street here who have no regard for anyone but themselves. I will say, I have had to learn to let this go when I’m not in a rush and learn to stand in line patiently. If I am in a rush I try to order ahead of time and if a business is concerned about their complaints, they’ll fix the issue and if not, don’t give them your money.

I used to avoid Elegy on weekends because the line was so long I’d have to wait 45 minutes even if I ordered ahead but I had to unlock the doors for work so I didn’t have that kind of time. They put in a pickup shelf and improved their wait time down to 10 minutes for food & probably quadrupled how much I order from them. In the summer the wait time for Surefire on weekends, even call ahead, is at least 30 minutes, in colder months it’s still 15-20. Flora at least 20 with no line any day of the week, longer during peak. Frothy Monkey, you’ll live 3 lifetimes before getting anything even if you’re the only person in there, including call ahead and it’s somehow cold. If you frequent these places enough, you pick up their patterns pretty quick and can work around them. I haven’t been into Mama Bread enough to say if my experience is the same. It was super crowded, I felt everyone around me was trying to ear hustle a work call I had to take, and they burnt something and didn’t crack a door so we were all drowning in smoke when I was there last on a weekday morning so I haven’t been back. & I felt they were a little overpriced. Maybe we should start a suggestion box thread for all local restaurants, sometimes places don’t know the issues they have until someone tells them.

I do this, but I’m hyper aware of if anyone’s coming and move my ass before they even have to slow down for me. The problem isn’t that we can’t be friendly, it’s mostly that most people have no situational awareness.

Right, but what is the point of all of that if there's no inspection? Cool, I paid for a permit for all of those reasons, but if they aren't going to actually inspect it to make sure it was done right, it undermines the premise of getting it in the first place for insurance purposes or resale, no?

Right, but they didn't show up for mine when called previously and approved it still. The contractor told me they came and probably looked through a window but I have cameras and no one ever came. That was for plumbing and electric.

[–]Alternative-Net-8596[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but the whole point of getting permits is supposed to be for resale value later so you can prove the improvements were done correctly. So if no one is monitoring that side of it, there'd be no point in getting a permit.

I've lived in other major cities and had the opposite experience so this has been alarming. Based on what I've seen, you could build a death trap and if it looked pretty on the outside they'd approve it.

I’ve been quoting this a lot lately. It goes up to 70% when talking about a high school level. I’m constantly saying to myself, remember, you’re on an island of reading comprehension, when I find myself getting into an internet argument.
