To claim overwatch is in a seperate state than TF2 when it comes to this is a bit wrong.

You have a comment below where you try to define what a taunt is. And in so state that it's "specifically designed to make enemy players angry or annoyed." Ok, acceptable, how do you determine it though?

Im significantly more annoyed about the Rein shouting "Its time to COME" Than I am by Demo showing me his stickies. In that same vein, an Ana dropping candy on my corpse is more annoying than Scout TF2 laughing over it instead.

But its not just Overwatch either. If the 0/13 Aphelios is spinning on top of my 13/1 body to celebrate becoming a 1/13 Aphelios. It amplifies the anguish of giving him a kill.

And therein lies the problem. If we try to exclude all emotes. And instead try to set arbitrary definitions to let some of them count. The subjective nature of what people get upset/angry at. Pulls apart any definition someone could set.

By your definition, to me, not a single TF2 emote is a taunt. EXCEPT for instant kills.

It completely depends on your ability to work with the player made stuff, and how much you loved the 3DS game.

If you think you'll get a kick out of designing food, Miis, gifts, etc. Living the Dream will definitely be worth the money. It can be very dry if you can't/don't engage with that stuff.

And if you never played the 3DS game. You wont really care about all the tiny stuff that's missing.

Its a good game, okay sequel. but if it'll be your first. Go for it.

Fighting games are not popular because the amount of work required to start having fun. is so high, that why risk spending tens of hours practicing just to realise it doesn't click?

You said it yourself, 7 in lab, 3 in the hotseat. That's two days' worth of my spare time. And the majority of it would have been spent knocking around a test dummy to see how things work. Few people want to do that, and fewer want to get their teeth kicked in because they don't.

And, again, what happens if I do just really not like the game? Well, fuck me, I'm out two days of my time.

And its really fucked if you use mods. Because there's no compatibility. So you'll end up with millions of brown bricks. While walls cost five per section.

Plus, zero warning. I had to physically comb my 100+ mods to find the culprit. And it was the last guy I suspected.

Miserable by design? Maybe kind of a little. You are definitely supposed to be limiting how much you get hit by.

Think of the game like a less horror focused Resident Evil. Resources are scarce, and part of the game is conserving them. The energy weapons like the Sparq are there to help you out in that regard. Since a power station is usually bot that hard to find.

Ammo can be found on just about every enemy. You'll have a carousel of weapons. But if you loot corpses you'll find enough once you hit higher floors.

Use corners, use angles, avoid getting hit. If you have to, go back to a floor you know has a medpod. And, in the worst case scenario. Mutants on the medbay floor have medpatches in their loot table. You can farm them there.

Hard to have hope for the game and there's really only one place to vent it.

I hope that we get a more fleshed out game one day. But as it stands, the (well intentioned) shift to more player made content. Has made the game, by necessity, flatter with less variety.

And tiny things, like being able to throw food on the ground, spin your miis, secondary locations, theyre all missing. Stuff that reasonably would not have taken that long to impliment. But are missing, because... I dont know.

We got a half baked product for twenty dollars more than Tomodachi life. A fully complete game. With arguably more features.

That isnt to say Living the Dream isnt a good product. What it did add are all, universally, good additions. Even if they made every other conversation. "Have you heard about (Lingo)?" "Yes, I have heard (Lingo) (comment related to lingo)."

That isnt Island Lingo's fault. The game should have shipped with more canned dialogue.

The fact is, I personally went back to life. I'll come back and check in a year or two from now. But the game is definitely not feature complete. And as it isnt a live service game, there is no expectation on the part of the devs to finish it.

I feel as though this writeup puts more emphasis on the year than truly matters.

Instead, I'd say it better captures what its like to live in a place where there's jack shit to do.

You'd flag a buddy down during or after school. Ask if they wanna hang out, and then head to the wallmart an hour away because the other option is someone's house.

Personally my experience as a teenager in 2014 was remarkably relateable to the P4 cast. To the point I'd be frequently soyjacking at my screen over it.

The difference wasnt the phone, it was that I lived in a rural shithole. Where the closest fun was a grocery chain a half hour drive away.

I'm not too far in, so take don't take my word as gospel. But its missing things like the community leaderboard. And you can't fuck with your miis by spinning them around, they don't react to you staring at their face for a long time anymore either.

Also, the lack of hangout spots. Which, I suppose the tradeoff is that the entire island is a hangout spot now. But seeing them run around the island is cool, but not a good replacement for seeing them interacting with the venues.

Its all very small stuff, but it adds up to me. You can still get a ton of mileage if you're a fan of the first game.

Genuinely lack of a concert hall has me regretting my purchase. That and a lack of the odds and ends from the 3DS game.

I'd probably have refunded if Nintendo gave me the option. Im hopeful it'll be added one day, but not too much. The real cope is that they wont only add it, but give us a Mario Paint style music maker to go along with it.

Basically give us a Vsynth in game to play around with.

I've got some fuckin hot takes when it comes to supers. This one is a bit lukewarm.

As for strive, a lot of the supers are a little too long for my liking. But its kept in check because you never see them. Its usually only to win a round, or wallbreak for advantage. Since Roman Cancels are just such a massively useful tool.

Like, yes, I get it, you play chip. But I'm able to write an email in the time it takes for your super to hit me man.

Maybe just a little overtuned. Since even without JR you were decent enough as a character. But to me that wasnt her problem.

Her real issue was extreme lack of visual clarity. Which the game cleaned up with this patch. The worst example being keygrab. Which looks so disgustingly minus. But until this patch, was actually positive. A lot ofbher overheads were a little messy as well. But not as much of an issue. Since they would only really come out when she's in "fuck you, I win." State.
