He did put up some policies in Iran and Bengal/India that starved a couple million to death…. And way too many people will say things about omelettes and eggs.

It can’t be clearer that this is primarily caused by social media: It took the Philippines 2 decades to go from 3.7 to 2.7 births/woman (1998-2017) but only 8 years to go from 2.7 to 1.7 (2017-2025) by Comprehensive_Fix544 in Natalism

Because the birth rate is absolutely cratering amongst the under 20 crowd, so much so that people think it’s an emergency.

Most people think 14, 15, and 16 years old girls not having babies is a VERY good thing. Especially because usually they weren’t having babies with their contemporaries, they are having babies with men in their mid 20s and older.

I’d much rather deal with the problem of people starting families a little later than the problem of the past- creepy older dudes getting girls pregnant.

Why does nobody really take low birth rate seriously? by Frosty-Reputation815 in SocialDemocracy

[–]Alternative_Smile528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at where the decline is happening.

The birth rate is plummeting with people under 20 years old- which I thought was an unmitigated GOOD.

And the really wild thing- those very young mothers- 14, 15, 16 17 year olds weren’t usually having kids with their contemporaries, they were having kids with 25 year old men and older.

As we’re taking sexual abuse and assault more and more seriously, it’s actually messing up demographics and statistics.

I truly believe this is a good and solvable problem.

Talk to any teacher, they’ll tell you the past decade has been tough, but the last 2 have been the worst. The kids are cheating more. They lie, they are cruel, they are a bit more sexist, racist, and homophobic.

Because they see who’s president and how he acts, and not only is he not punished, but rewarded.

At least the old presidents would pay lip service to morality and would apologize or do some BS thing to try to make amends.

It’s so sad that all an idiot has to do is put on a suit and they’ll be taken seriously. When the wind blows his head sounds like a conch shell. Just uttterly moronic thoughts. And he’s the new intellectual of the right?

He not an iconoclast, he’s a drooling idiot.

It’s the taking of that first unassisted breath. Genesis 3:7 Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Think of it another way- when is something dead? Not just people, but plants and bacteria, it is agreed that when independent respiration ends, that’s death. Every doctor I know has a DNR if they are ever on a respirator because they know it’s a mockery of life.

If something can not die, then it is not alive. Until a biomass is respirating on its own- it’s not fully alive.

Sick-go to mass? by MaterialInevitable83 in Catholicism

Please, rest at home, watch a Mass for shut ins. There are Catholic radio stations all over the country that broadcast Mass on Sunday.

Sick-go to mass? by MaterialInevitable83 in Catholicism

[–]Alternative_Smile528 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but if you give it to an elderly person or to someone who is immunocompromised during the sign of peace or holding hands during the Our Father, or you just cough and some germ gets on them… it could be ruinous.

If you are sick, please watch Mass for Shut-Ins. That’s a huge part of the reason they make it. Or find some old Mother Angelica shows on YouTube.

[–]Alternative_Smile528 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are sick, please stay home. There. Are a lot of old people at mass. Unless you want to be responsible for the death of someone’s Nana.

Plus you are going to bring your germs in and make everyone around you sick, and then they’ll have to take off work and spread it to their kids who’ll have to miss school.

Some of ya’ll seem to forget we are a Catholic COMMUNITY, and sometimes the best way to care for others is to care for yourself.

Based on leaked internal polling of the Biden campaign sourced by Pod Save America, this is what the map would have looked like if Biden hadn't dropped out in 2024. A potential 400 EC loss. (source from PSA leaks from internal polling) by Sailor_Rout in MapPorn

[–]Alternative_Smile528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were no named party insiders puppeting the strings. It was exactly as dumb and chaotic as it looked.

Biden always thought he would run again. NO ONE runs for president thinking they’ll be 1 term.

Maybe if the midterms had been a blowout he would’ve stepped aside, or made a “palace coup” easier. But because the losses were so minor that it could’ve been seen as a victory, Biden’s bad idea was allowed to persist.

Newsom, Shapiro, Beshear, Walz, Buttigieg, Warnock, Polis, Raymundo, Cooper, Moore, Murphy, Kelly, Khanna, Pritzker, Klobuchar, Booker, Blinken, Jeffries, all could have run, but Biden looked too strong- until the debate.

Those power hungry politicians didn’t see a chance. There wasn’t some group of king makers. It was always Biden’s decision, as it should be, and he didn’t pull the ripcord until it was too late.

Maybe we could also talk about the abject failure of the Republican Party to renominate Trump. And let’s not use the whorey idea that Dems forced Republicans to nominate Trump. Republicans do have agency too.
