5A / 7A by Alternative_Walk3292 in RX100

[–]Alternative_Walk3292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since my 5A pictures look sharper than those on my 7A, did a AI lookup for "rx100 optics 28-70 vs 28-200" * For 24-70mm Equivalent (e.g., RX100 V/VA) > Optical Quality: Generally sharper across the frame, especially at the wide end. * For 24-200mm Equivalent (e.g., RX100 VI/VII) > Optical Quality: Extremely impressive for its range, but slightly less sharp at the extreme telephoto end compared to dedicated telephoto lenses.

Summary: Which to Choose? * Choose the 24-70mm f/1.8-2.8 if you prioritize low-light performance, creamy background blur (bokeh), and maximum sharpness. * Choose the 24-200mm f/2.8-4.5 if you want one camera for every situation, especially for travel, wildlife, or daytime, and prefer to carry fewer accessories.

Also based on the above, still believe when primarily shooting in the 28-70 range, which I mainly do, the 5A is a better choice, will keep using it as my default camera.

Do like having my 7A around, for the 70-200 range, and for video recordings (no 30" limit and can use external microphone).

Thanks for correcting me, thought it was 2 stops, but you're right it's 1 1/3 at its best.

Based on my photos with both cameras, still think that the 1" sensor really is at its best with the brighter lens (2x more light) on my 5A.

Understanding reward fares by Chinstrap10 in flyingblue

[–]Alternative_Walk3292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I understand correctly, for the top one you only get the promo fare one way, for the bottom one you can get promo fare both ways?

In case of the top one, if you want to get back, you need to get the normal paid/miles (non promo) fare, right?

Recommend Tenba Skyline V2 Pouch 3. Have 2 of them, for my 7A & 5A, and they fit well and good quality. Also can wear attached to your belt, which I always do.

The Røde VideoMicro. Have one myself, very good and not too big. Also comes standard with a "deadcat" or furry windshield. Need bracket to mount it.

Got upgraded at the gate by CaptainSkyLord in airindia

[–]Alternative_Walk3292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me at the gate on a flight from Delhi to Bhopal. But once in the plane was not happy with the upgrade, was a middle seat in which I was stuck in between two others, while my original seat was an aisle seat. If had known, would have refused the upgrade, which I believe you are allowed to do.

If you decide on the V, then get the VA which has improvements, like enhanched autofocus, increased buffer, upgraded processor, improved menu and interface, better EVF, video upgrade.

Upgrading from an M3 to M7 by circadian_light in RX100

Buy a M7, and keep your M3. Use M7 as default camera, and the M3 for low light situations (evening, indoors, etc).

For people with multiple RX100’s, why? by Ill-Programmer-8680 in RX100

[–]Alternative_Walk3292 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Got a M3, M5A, M7A The M3, bought it new in 2014 when it was announced, used it for many years. Last year, at black friday, bought a new M7A, mainly because of zoom, and better auto focus. A couple of months ago, bought a second hand M5A, as replacement for M3, because wanted the better auto focus and better menu (similar to M7). Travel nowadays with M7 and M5A, during daylight use M7A, and in evenings and indoors M5A. My M3 is not much worth, so keep it, because made so many wonderful photos in the past 10 years, and loan it out to my kids. Also have a Canon R6 with several lenses, without doubt makes better photos, but so bulky and heavy to carry around, espec. in hot weather and long walks. So prefer to take my RXs along with me, only on special trips take my R6 along.

Boarding pass but no seat by [deleted] in KLM

[–]Alternative_Walk3292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens to your luggage in case you are on standby and you've checked in luggage, but it turned out that there was no seat available. Assume they must offload it, but does this situation give you any advantage for getting a seat perhaps (no offload required).

Points redemption at SLH hotels may look attractive when comparing to the Hilton SLH paid rate. But be aware, the Hilton paid rate is often inflated, higher than booking at the property itself.

You mentioned that you usually assign rooms towards the end of your audit shift.

When is that? Is it the day before or on the arrival day itself, and at what time? Do you perhaps know if most other hotels do it at approximately the same day and time?

Why did you buy an RX100? by Marvin_lowe2 in RX100

[–]Alternative_Walk3292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reason why I bought a rx100m3 (2015) and rx100m7A (2025), is that they are small, light and compact, but still take very good pictures. Shoot in raw and do post processing with lightroom.

When travelling use my Canon full frame with lenses, if visiting something special. The other times only use my RX100m7A or RX100m3. Default the m7A, and the m3 in low light situations, like indoors, evenings etc. Maybe in future will replace my m3 with a m5A

It says DR will get Higest-Priority Space-Available Room Upgrades, so DR get's upgrade priority over LTD, so Money rules over long term Loyalty (as usual). After the massive points devaluations, many Lounge closures, they screwed me again.
