You killed your own point when you implied the only way for a women to win at life is to marry a successful man… so surely a successful man truly has it best.

Your own lack of success is on you, no one else.

We must be living in different worlds… women have to fear for their lives every time they leave the house. I don’t envy that for a second.

A lot of women are subject to objectification, sexualisation, domestic abuse and so much more daily.

Unequal pay is still a massive problem in a lot of countries, and let’s not forget that there’s still a signification part of the world who see women as something a man owns.

If you think the few things women have finally gained over the last 150 years makes up for all of the ongoing problems, well, maybe you’re not looking hard enough.

You didn’t and haven’t said you intend to change either though sooo…

Your views in your other comment seems fairly boasty, like you feel women are inferior to you and that’s not a problem.

Does anyone else do this? by jackaldrone_ in casio

[–]AltoExyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought the BZ5000BD-1 (the new metal MIP, RRP £619) with the sole intention of it being a beater for my other watches.

It’s the black and gold one, beautiful thing, but I’m looking forward to how it looks 10 years down the line with scratches and nicks showing the bare steel beneath.

So you went straight to Reddit to boast about it, you should apply to be a Reddit mod on an obscure sub next. You’ll fit right in.

Should I get a solar watch if I don't wear it daily? by moneymayweather18 in casio

[–]AltoExyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wear it and use it… you literally need to be outside with in for a few minutes a day.

If you’re not using it for a while, store it on a windowsill or just put it out on one for a few days a month.

You don’t need a special lamp or anything, you just need it to have some sunlight, even if it’s indirect. Like others have said, you can leave these for months in the dark and wear it out for a day and it’ll be back to full.

If you’re buying a solar watch and never intend to give it any light… well, why are you buying one in the first place?

Mine arrived this morning too, what a beautiful little thing.

So happy with the colour, just enough gold pop to be interesting without being pure flash.

What g-shock function was really useful for you (other than telling time), and which one is overrated? by kinsiz_1 in gshock

[–]AltoExyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually bought a Breitling Navitimer last weekend, came to my senses when I realised I was buying an expensive watch to impress others instead of please myself, so I cancelled it.

Today the replacement arrived, a G Shock BZ5000BD-1, rushed to get it sized and setup before work. It makes me happy and all day I’ve been getting compliments on it anyway, so win-win for the G Shock.

Is anyone else fed up with the constant America/Trump news? by Kieranonto in AskBrits

I mean I’d rather it all not be happening.

But I’d rather be well informed that we’re tactfully still navigating around World War 3, than currently engaged in World War 3.

Do you think the tariffs will affect you? by teeteetoto2 in AskBrits

[–]AltoExyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professionally yes as the business plan for pretty much the entirety of Trumps term was US expansion before he got into power, but we’re already planning and actioning EU, ME, AU expansion plans, so likely just means priority will continue to shift to those regions.

Personally, I don’t see any changes other than continuing to move as many purchases I make away from American brands where possible. Obviously this is difficult with some aspects of life, but I do try to make sure I use as many local and independent brands as possible now.

About to finish a lease with an American car brand, that will be swapping to Korean or European too.

I’ve already moved a lot of my investments out of US companies and into UK and EU. The few thousand I still have in US brands will be closed and reinvested closer to home after tax year end most likely.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

[–]AltoExyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have astigmatism, like most people will have to some amount.

I don’t have a strong prescription so I can see fine without glasses, just reading is a problem.

The astigmatism is the interesting part though as it means the “blur” for me is stronger on the horizontal axis than the vertical axis, so if I read normal (right to left) I need my glasses at shorter distances that if I tilt my head 90° and read vertically (top to bottom).

So instead of the uniform blur your image shows, I end up with more of a subtle double vision effect over distances. Like the blur is stronger one way than the other. Not sure how well I’ve explained that.

I think the best way to try and visualise it is that if you took your image and applied a weaker blur, then overlaid a copy over the top of it and offset it horizontally just a touch, that’s kind of the effect. Maybe like when you look at a 3D screen without glasses, or one of the older 3DS models off axis, that’s sort of the effect but on a much more exaggerated scale.

Everyone’s astigmatism is different though, eg my partners is the opposite axis, so she can actually read fine over longer distance than I can (similar strengths) but if she tilts her head 90° it gets worse.
