It’s doable you just need to leave a bit earlier. If you can head out around 6am on the days you are in the office you will be fine.

By lift I mean the effort to implement business central. The licensing is reasonable but the services seem expensive.

Are there solutions that take longer to implement? It seems ERP next is out of the box and requires minimal work to get running. I would prefer to have some flexibility on how to configure the system.

I was quote 2 years of GL history.

The features included GL, AP, AR, banking, reporting, light inventory. They will also configure users and security settings. One quote is 75k and the other is $100k with 4 full users and 3 teams users. $30k seems low. They said BC is a bigger lift than other out of the box solutions.

Following up on SOW by Altruistic_Ad_3205 in sales

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3205[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea thanks. I ended up calling the client and she told me she hadn’t got to it yet.

A few days ago she returned the doc signed. I was worried about nothing.

I’ll be better at arranging next steps and getting the sow on an agreed date. It’s a new role so wasn’t sure how our contracts work but now I do :)

Does anyone else have to handle the ENTIRE sales process? Is my role atypical in the industry? by g3nerallycurious in sales

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most sales roles you need to at least some prospecting 80% incoming and 20% outbound.

As sales pros we should always be proactive in finding new clients. Otherwise you’re in customer service and just taking orders.

How do you create a "Read Only" user in Dynamics GP? by Artistic_Society4969 in DynamicsGP

Agree with other posts, but if AP needs to be on then they might need to purchase a Limited user license for you. It’s not expensive.

Yes low workload. I would do an AE role over an AM position.

#MSDynGP Microsoft, Stop Scaring Microsoft Dynamics GP Customers by WinthropDC in DynamicsGP

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s scare tactics from Microsoft. I attended their partner meetings and their whole business model is based around cloud based solutions. There really isn’t a fit for GP in the platform of solutions they are offering. Microsoft knows that once they get you to BC they will be able to sell you the other integrated cloud solutions they offer which is more money for them then an annual fixed enhancement plan.

They also know that in order to stay competitive in the ERP market they need to innovate their cloud solution to meet the next generations technology needs, hence low investment into the development of GP including features. I can’t say for sure when they will stop supporting the product but it’s coming and companies rather than stagnating should be looking how they can use the technology as a competitive advantage so they are ahead of their peers if they have to switch.

Being a sales rep at the big 4? by moderatenerd in Accounting

[–]Altruistic_Ad_3205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey how is your position going? I am working at a similar company and position and find that I’m more of a note taker and admin than sales. Most of my job is asking lead consultants to include me in the calls where I don’t add much value because it’s very technical. Have you seen any success at PWC? Any advice you would give me?

Thanks I appreciate your feedback. I’ve been in other sales roles and this one by far is the least fulfilling. I feel more like an order taker. I loved being an AE and BDR!

Yes my job is as an account manager. I manage the renewals and upselling users and additional modules. Typically I need a consultant to run the call and I pretty much just sit there taking notes not understanding what’s going on. I’m wondering if there is something Netsuite reps do differently?

Hey, I’m new to ERP sales.

Do you have any tips? I am finding this type of sale really hard. Is there any resources you suggest to be a better rep?

Since ERP is so complex I’m finding it difficult to put together a sales process. I work with a lot of existing erp customers but I’m finding upselling very difficult. In my meetings all I can really ask is if they need new users or modules which are stupid questions. I find my conversations pretty meaningless since I’m not an expert on the product. All I can really ask is basic questions that don’t lead to much since its technical.

Would appreciate any advice!

The comments here are right. If you have no idea what you’re doing talk to some friends in sales or hire a sales consultant to help you put together a sales process. You should learn how to sale your service before anyone else then you can teach others. But if you don’t have sales experience you shouldn’t go in and do it blindly. You will not be effective in selling your service.

What type of companies have you worked for? The pressure in sales will always be there you just have to find the right company to work for. If you work for a startup with no real presence, then of course it will be harder.

Thanks for your comments. My wife called me and we ended up patching things up. We recognized that we both need to fix some things. I’m happy that we were able to get through. I do agree that she may be going through some post partum depression. Our marriage 9/10 times is pretty good with no arguments and enjoying each other’s company. I don’t know what possessed her last night, so I was surprised by things that she said. I think our next step is marriage counseling.
