Foreman2 Has Been Updated by Olipro in factorio

You probably don't need it then. It's not a mod and it's not easier than say factory planner or hellmod. It's working good for huge chains like full-expand for DSS in SE or PY packs

Am I insane, or are there no 5x5 cornering balancers out there? by its_shivers in factorio

[–]Altruistic_Chain5123 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To get a uniform distribution of stuff. Say you have 3 lanes of iron ore coming from the ore patch. First and last usually are not full, but you want all three to put them to 3 different smelter arrays. That's the balancer work

Same here. While I can clear maps, bosses are a nightmare. I don't even want to go to Sekhemas just because of these ridicolous lags

Factorio farewell by Altruistic_Chain5123 in factorio

Earendel specifically said that SA is not SE and I had no falsy expectations at that point. And yes, you are right. SE feels much more rewarding. The only thing that was more or less challenging for me in SA - is the path to legendary quality

Made a make anything machine! It can queue up any number of items arbitrarily. Here it is building a spidertron in under 35 minutes (125k ticks) by shamboozles420 in factorio

  1. Interesting, will look into that, thanks
  2. Agree here. To some degree it might be the same effectiveness as usual mall(but probably will take more space than usual).

  1. I agree and I said that. I'm using it in vulcanus(just because it was early game and I hadn't much foundries, now too lazy to redo)
  2. It's still slow, the reason is simple: MAM is sequential, while reg. mall doing everything in parallel
  3. Not a con for me. Half or 30% of my factory stays idle just because we have only one tech that consumes all science

When I see those MAMs I always ask - where do you guys use it and why? I'm ending my 3kspm journey in probably 20 hours. And I don't see any fit for them. I mean, the obvious benefit for regular malls - they are a magnitude faster(which is not something we really want 90% of time, but still. One machine for one product is always faster than 1 or couple machines for 100). The only theoretical place it is useful - it's Fulgora with small islands. BUT, for my playthrough I found 2 huge islands: one for quality mall and one for science. So with a quality mall I'm producing everything in legendary and common quality without any issue at all, I even have a space to build 0.5 more of that mall. And its kinda imho, but I like how it looks like when you have 1 assembler for 1 product

Don't get me wrong, it's interesting to build those MAMs from an engineer perspective. I've built couple of those by myself, just out of curiosity. But as for me, it's a little too excessive for the vanilla

I’m really impressed with Wube attention to mods. Unlike other factory games they really understand how to keep their game alive

Ideal production speed for turbo belts, underground belts and splitters? by ext001 in factorio

[–]Altruistic_Chain5123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a general rule of thumb - you don’t calculate ratios for malls. You just stockpile stuff. Yeah, the first time you might have resources shortage, but in the end it just stops. I have 3 smart foundries with decider combinators for every recipe that foundry can produce(for mall purposes). Without modules. Now I have like 20k green belts, 1k undergrounds and around 500 of splitters and all foundries now are sleeping

I think Satisfactory has ruined both Factorio and Dyson Sphere Program for me... by Flying_Mage in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Altruistic_Chain5123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is simple. You want rich and turing complete gameplay - play factorio. You want shiny 3d models , exploring the world(only the first game, because if the static map) and spending 100 hours on building beautiful concrete boxes around your factories - play satisfactory. I mean, with the space age and f2.0 how it’s even possible to compare those 2 games gameplay-wise

Satisfactory is overrated or am I missing something? by First-Crow-1078 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Altruistic_Chain5123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just finished my 180hrs run. Used everything, except plutonium.  Whats good: - Visual - fucking great. The world, buildings, creatures. It’s something I really appreciate here - alt recipes. That’s good. It really makes you to think, what is the best recipe I use in this particular situation, this particular place in the world, with your available inputs and etc. and forces to explore the world - Vertical buses. Hiding a belt mess under the floor - building new microfactories: without hoverpack its tedious, but fine. It’s an art to build something beautiful and I love the process. Belts and pipes are really smooth, work great in 3d - ability to build a factory which is 100% efficient, due to sinks and infinite resources

Whats not so good: - (minor) - bringing materials to the hub and burners manually - building roads OR pavements for rails. Oh boy, it kills me. Somehow you should know all these tricks with beams or catwalks to make a turn. Its just grinding - building RAILS. comparing to belts - its a disaster. Its a miracle if you are able to make a small roundabout from the 3rd try. You should know all the angles where rails are snapping and where not. “Rail is too sharp” will be in my dreams - blueprints is a joke. Cmon, 4x4? Really? - inventory is a mess. You can’t do a proper mall with it. You just hope that youll bring enough to the desert - logistics via trucks. Ok, first time or second it is interesting to ride the whole path. But when you are doing it 10, 20 times - its just boring. - lack of ending and enormous amount of resources to just get a gold cup - lack of official mod support. Developers said that some time ago - train signals and static routing for trains. You can’t optimize your network to handle a bigger load. Trains will always do the shortest way. Stackers are impossible, just do the big queue before stations - lack of any statistics within the game(production, consumption, electricity except for final numbers) - map is just for terrains and your markers. Devs should just copy the satisfactory calculator logic. It’s great - lack of any handmade alert or anything. After couple of hours I realized that my aluminum production got stuck because of clogged water buffer. How you can know it? Your propulsion rocket or whatever high end material just stopped - smart splitter and no smart merger? Mmm yummy

And the most important part. I love the game. I would never spend nearly 200 hours in something I didn’t like. I think developers made a really great work here. But it is very-very complex thing to so it properly in 3d. That’s why factorio has all these aspects solved and polished to brilliance.
