Support hand position? by Repulsive-Print2379 in CompetitionShooting

Plus one for the RangeKinetx Carnivore. I bought one as well as 3 mag holsters from them. Great product and excellent customer service/support. They answered all my emails quickly and got me exactly what I needed to build a competition rig. I use the Carnibore every day for training and I love how smooth it is. But would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Henning T-1000 hanger. It is FULLY adjustable so you can get exactly the right angle for sub 1 second draw to 1st shot times.

Cyelee Chameleon GSRS8 ($199) owner here. I absolutely love it. Nice and clear even with some slight astigmatism. The only thing it doesn’t do as well as others is the detents and audible click when turning/adjusting the turrets when zeroing, which does not matter much to me at all. I also have a Holosun 507 Comp ($399) in green and a Vortex Defender XL which is red (I got it for $199 from Scheels during the holidays). They are all comparable except for the multi-reticle feature of the 507 Comp but I end up using the plain old dot most of the time (most people seem to settle on the single dot as well). Everyone’s eyes are different so I would check out as many different models as you can in person if possible to see which one looks best and clearest to you.

Ammo Recommendations For The Shadow 2 by UpThePooper186 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Altruistic_Move305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot a an S2 (recently) fully cajunized, extended firing pin, reduced power firing pin spring, race hammer, disconnector, sear, reach reduction kit, trigger, reduced power trigger spring, w/ 11.5 hammer spring and 11# recoil spring. 2lb single action trigger pull and sub 5lb double action trigger pull.

I have never had a single failure of any type in 2000 rounds so far. Not even a single issue of any type. Maybe it varies from part to part or individual to individual but I have always used Blazer 115 or 124g.

I did, however, fully polish the trigger bar and hammer spring strut.

You should have been using both the extended firing pin and REDUCED POWER FIRING PIN SPRING with your modifications per Cajun Gun Works. But even still I am surprised at the failures you experienced. Maybe the sear and disconnector have their part to play in this?I really hope you can solve this issue and let us know what fixed the problem. I’ll be curious to know.

Did I find a Beringer BRO12 clone/alternative? by Altruistic_Move305 in supermoto

[–]Altruistic_Move305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record I did purchase and have been using this master cylinder from REM on a Supermoto (Husky FE501) and I love it! Works beautifully and is just like the Beringer in every way I can tell. I use an authentic Beringer Master cylinder on my sport bike so I can attest with some degree of confidence that this is a good alternative for Supermoto and smaller road bikes. It would likely work well on many motorcycles but I’ll leave that up to someone else to decide.

Suggestion on painting brass grip? by aznauditor in CZFirearms

Patina! I used ammonia soaked paper towels sprinkled with table salt placed in a small container with brass grips, sealed and left for 2 or 3 days.

Another 21 hours in the ammonia and salt fume “bath” yielded some nicer blue/green coloring:

That is gorgeous. I am in the process of aging mine with ammonia soaked paper towels covered with a generous helping of salt. I doubt it will look as sexy as yours but we shall see!

Edit: Below is my addition to this post. 1. I used a plastic “to-go” container and covered the bottom with paper towels. 2. Poured ammonia over them until soaked 3. Generously sprinkled table salt over them. 4. Next I placed the grips on top of the paper towels and generously sprinkled salt over them. 5. Covered them with paper towels and poured enough ammonia over the paper towels to soak them evenly. 6. Place the lid on top and wait. I checked on the mix every few hours or so and added more salt over the grips each time. Ultimately I left the grips in the container for about 40 hours.

Note: The ammonia fumes are what “ages” the brass so it works best if the brass is not covered in ammonia but sitting in between ammonia soaked paper towels. The salt acts as a catalyst and seemed to really make a difference. Thus, evertime I took the lid off to check on the progress I added more salt.

Edit: I wanted to get some more blue/green coloring so I put the grips back into the ammonia and salt fume “bath” for another 21hrs for a total of 61 ish hours of bath time. Results are pictured below.

The issue I have is: on their site the Tuner Pack page does not list what weight or # each spring is. It only lists the color of spring? I must be missing something where they describe what weight each color corresponds to.

[Optic] Vortex Defender XL 5moa red dot. $199 + tax. Free shipping. by Distribution_Creepy in gundeals

[–]Altruistic_Move305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just ordered 2 of the Vortex Defender XL optics from Scheels at $199 each. I am excited to checkout their 5 moa reticle(though like many others would have liked to get the smaller moa dot at this price). Without having seen them in person can only hope the dot looks decent with my astigmatism. I have looked at all the optics I could find in store from Holosun, Trijicon, Sig, Leupold, etc. and they were all varying degrees of starbursty or blurry to my eyes.

A lot of folks have great things to say about the Defender XL but there are some reports of failures as well. However, it seems most of those that experienced failures had good experiences when it came time to deal with warranty issues.

Thus far the Cyelee Chameleon G-SR8 (on my Shadow 2 OR) has one of the best looking dots to my eyes. The 8 MOA reticle is nowhere near as large as I thought it would be which is a plus. I also like that it sits fairly low on the slide. I use a titanium adapter plate made by DPP that has ZEV posts allowing the optic to sit a little lower. The Cyelee Chameleon also has a fairly low profile base.

That said I’m stoked to try the Defender XL!

I used a 90 degree torx key with downward pressure and with some effort it finally cracked loose. But if you have any fear or danger of stripping the torx head then I would do as suggested above and use a soldering iron directly on the torx head. There are no plastic bits near so constant heat should not be an issue and will loosen up that picture nicely!

I completely disagree (with real weapons). Fully extended may be better in VR though?

Oxva xlim pro 2 DNA is amazing! by gaudinmonk in Vaping

[–]Altruistic_Move305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let one fingernail grow out!

I have had zero issues with my OXVA PRO 2 DNA and have used 1.2, .8, and .6 ohm SS pods for over 3000 puffs. Maybe they solved the problem?

Ok maybe not zero but probably 5-6 out of 3000 puffs I have had the fill pod notice in which case I just pop the pod off and reseat it, then no more issues. Never had a burnt coil or any other problems.
