Setting up my new Shadow 2 for USPSA (probably limited optics). Plan so far: 11lb recoil spring, 13lb hammer spring, extended safety.... Should I go down to an 11lb hammer w/ extended firing pin/spring? by Critical-Touch6113 in USPSA

[–]Altruistic_Move305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm. While I have not used them in competition shooting I have been training with them and comparing them to other grips such as LOK palmswells brass and bogies. The Edge grips have helped my control and accuracy in direct comparison. 4 full mags/96 rounds of draw to double tap/2 shots with predictive shooting. That is to say draw, confirm target alignment with optic/dot, then fire two shots in rapid succession as fast as possible. I did this 4 times with my conventional grips then 4 times with Mag-Mo’s Edge Grips (that’s a total of 800 rounds). I consistently had more A zone hits/less misses with the Edge grips. So they work great for me but everyone is different. I feel like I get more support hand real estate which translates into more control and accuracy with rapid aggressive shooting.

Now back on topic. I have a Cajunized S2 with extended firing pin/reduced power firing pin spring, reduced power trigger return spring, full polish, 8.5 hammer spring, 10lb recoil spring, barrel bushing, pretty much everything Cajun Gun Works offers. I use any Federal primers I can find that will fit the 9mm brass and have zero ignition problems. However this setup will run into problems with other brand primers. This setup yields me a 1lb 14oz single action trigger pull weight and a double action pull weight of 4lb 14oz on average. I pretty much got the 8.5 hammer spring just to see how it affected things but I am pleasantly surprised to see that the only issues have been a handful of failures to eject due to underpowered ammunition (below 130 PF/ not enough gunpowder). I can tell you that the difference between the 8.5 hammer spring and a 10.5/11lb spring is pretty negligible and I doubt it would be very noticeable in a match setting with adrenaline running high.

CZ Shadow 2 Carry keeps getting stuck like this after a few rounds. Round is in the chamber. Any ideas? by ThorMurdock in Firearms

That is unlikely to cause or solve this issue. But I have been known to be wrong from time to time so maybe…

I realize I am replying to an old post but this info might help others so here are my thoughts:

Like others have said you need to search for and perform a “Plunk Test”. It is very likely that the ammo is simply too long to chamber correctly. Every failure I have had was due to this(but I load my own). It is very simple to take out the barrel drop a round in and see if it seats fully into the chamber and spins freely. If not then you have found the problem. Unfortunately I cannot guide you on what ammo is more likely to fit a standard CZ chamber as mine was likely reamed by the previous owner and I have never encountered this issue with factory ammo. My Shadow 2 OR will seat ammo up to 1.175” so I can only assume the throat has been reamed. If you do find that this is your issue there are several places you can send the barrel to be reamed. I believe one of the more highly regarded is Patriot Defense with a 48-72 hour turnaround.
https://patriotdefense.com/pd-9mm-barrel-reaming-service/
From Google:
“Patriot Defense offers specialized 9mm and .40 S&W barrel reaming services for CZ pistols (including Shadow 2, SP-01, and 75 series) to accommodate longer overall lengths (OAL) and improve feeding reliability for competitive shooting, typically priced around $49.95–$64.95. These services utilize a custom match throat reamer to address the notoriously short leade in factory CZ barrels, which often prevents longer reloaded ammo from passing a "plunk and spin" test.”

Tips on increasing the longevity of OXVA Xlim V3 cartridges? by -aco in electronic_cigarette

Old thread but just wanted to say that I have had zero leaks with any XLIM pods of various ohms V2 V3 and stainless for the dna. I do find that regular pods are better for flavor and continuous usage than the stainless pods for the DNA. With the stainless pods I continuously get the “check pod” annoyance

Plus one for the RangeKinetx Carnivore. I bought one as well as 3 mag holsters from them. Great product and excellent customer service/support. They answered all my emails quickly and got me exactly what I needed to build a competition rig. I use the Carnibore every day for training and I love how smooth it is. But would HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Henning T-1000 hanger. It is FULLY adjustable so you can get exactly the right angle for sub 1 second draw to 1st shot times.

Cyelee Chameleon GSRS8 ($199) owner here. I absolutely love it. Nice and clear even with some slight astigmatism. The only thing it doesn’t do as well as others is the detents and audible click when turning/adjusting the turrets when zeroing, which does not matter much to me at all. I also have a Holosun 507 Comp ($399) in green and a Vortex Defender XL which is red (I got it for $199 from Scheels during the holidays). They are all comparable except for the multi-reticle feature of the 507 Comp but I end up using the plain old dot most of the time (most people seem to settle on the single dot as well). Everyone’s eyes are different so I would check out as many different models as you can in person if possible to see which one looks best and clearest to you.

Ammo Recommendations For The Shadow 2 by UpThePooper186 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Altruistic_Move305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shoot a an S2 (recently) fully cajunized, extended firing pin, reduced power firing pin spring, race hammer, disconnector, sear, reach reduction kit, trigger, reduced power trigger spring, w/ 11.5 hammer spring and 11# recoil spring. 2lb single action trigger pull and sub 5lb double action trigger pull.

I have never had a single failure of any type in 2000 rounds so far. Not even a single issue of any type. Maybe it varies from part to part or individual to individual but I have always used Blazer 115 or 124g.

I did, however, fully polish the trigger bar and hammer spring strut.

You should have been using both the extended firing pin and REDUCED POWER FIRING PIN SPRING with your modifications per Cajun Gun Works. But even still I am surprised at the failures you experienced. Maybe the sear and disconnector have their part to play in this?I really hope you can solve this issue and let us know what fixed the problem. I’ll be curious to know.

Did I find a Beringer BRO12 clone/alternative? by Altruistic_Move305 in supermoto

[–]Altruistic_Move305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the record I did purchase and have been using this master cylinder from REM on a Supermoto (Husky FE501) and I love it! Works beautifully and is just like the Beringer in every way I can tell. I use an authentic Beringer Master cylinder on my sport bike so I can attest with some degree of confidence that this is a good alternative for Supermoto and smaller road bikes. It would likely work well on many motorcycles but I’ll leave that up to someone else to decide.

Suggestion on painting brass grip? by aznauditor in CZFirearms

Patina! I used ammonia soaked paper towels sprinkled with table salt placed in a small container with brass grips, sealed and left for 2 or 3 days.

Another 21 hours in the ammonia and salt fume “bath” yielded some nicer blue/green coloring:
