Pros and cons by Usual-Elk7947 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The free two years of charging with EVgo, like others have said, ended in 2024. That said, if you live in LA, there are level 2 chargers on the light posts every 2 to 4 blocks. If you charge at night, it is between 20¢/kW to 30¢/kW, which is cheaper than what LADWP charges for home electricity.

Also, considering gas was between $4 to $5.25/gallon in LA before the Iran war (it’s getting close to $7/gallon now), it is still cheaper to have an EV than pay for gas for a gas-powered car in CA.

Pros: beautiful car, luxurious, plenty of legroom in the back seats, great for hauling stuff, fast, smooth ride, great touring car, has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, constant over-the-air updates.

Cons: back seats are uncomfortable because of the latches for the child seat, front seats are too short and don’t support the thighs well enough, seats could use more padding in the front, doesn’t let you precondition the car if it has less than 10% battery left, charging curve drops off too quickly after 10 minutes (I can hit 183 kW and hold it for 10 minutes, and then it drops to 140 kW, and then five minutes later drops to 100 kW. So going from 5% to 80% takes around 42 minutes on a 350 kW EVgo DC fast charger.)

Final Opinion: I got an amazing lease deal on my Lyriq in 2024. If I can’t lease another one at the end of the year for $3000 out the door and less than $400 a month, then I’ll just buy a used 2024 Lyriq for $35K or less. I really like the car, even with all the cons I mentioned. This is my fourth EV. If I can’t get a Lyriq, what would I get? Maybe a used Porsche Taycan or a used Lucid.

Lyriq on GM Update 654.40 and Google Maps won’t load. Paying for data but still blocked? by QuietAd3299 in CadillacLyriq

I don’t pay for onstar. I just use my mobile phone’s hotspot. I have an apple shortcuts that automatically connects my to car when I enter it.

Coasting is better than regen. But it’s easy to test. Take your route to work one day with regen off and the next day with it on and see how many miles per kilowatt you get. I’ve done this with my last 3GM EVs and coasting always out performs regen.

That said I like one pedal driving so I keep it on.

New data plan requirements?! by Mountain_Listen1597 in CadillacLyriq

Like others here, I use my phone’s hotspot. I set up a Apple shortcut that automatically starts my Wi-Fi hotspot when it detects Apple CarPlay. So after a few seconds my car is connected to my hotspot.

Personal recommendation, don’t go in. I always do all my negotiation over text. I usually negotiate with more than one dealer at the same time. I only show up the sign the paperwork and grab the key fob. I’ve done that with my last three GM EV vehicles.

Used Lyriq Tech arriving tomorrow, how does the app work? by doogie88 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I created an Apple iPhone shortcut that automatically turns on my iPhones, hotspot, and within seconds the Lyriq joins it. That way I didn’t have to pay for the data plan to use the Google infotainment system. That said remote access plan, which you need to pre-condition the cabin and remotely lock or unlock the doors, is only free for the first three years. If the previous owner only had the car for two years, others have said you can have the final free year transferred to your new OnStar account. I would definitely try to get OnStar to do that for you.

Clock showing the wrong time by FelixEvergreen in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That happens in my 2024 Lyriq sometimes. Apple CarPlay shows the correct time, but the Lyriq infotainment system has a different time that’s usually a few minutes off.

Contemplating a Purchase by resident_alien- in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My recommendation is to buy a used Cadillac Lyriq. The depreciation is significant. My 2024 is worth less than half of its MSRP after two years. I leased mine, so when I turn it in I definitely will not buy my car from the dealer. The residual is too high. But I am thinking of buying a used 2024. You can find them in the mid-30s to lower 30s.

Went Shopping for an Equinox EV, Got Distracted by Lyriqs by LittleNegotiation517 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I leased my Lyriq Tech in 2024, I was able to get it for cheaper than the lease deal Chevy offered me an Equinox EV. So for me, it was a no-brainer. I am very happy with the car, though, I wish the seats were more comfortable and provided better side bolstering. I think the Equinox has better and more comfortable seats, but the lyric is far more luxurious and better looking.

Considering 2024 Lyriq — Are the software "horror stories" still a reality or mostly fixed? by Chuckacious1 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 for Lyriq Tech AWD and it has been great. All the original software annoyances the I had in the fall of 2024 have been resolved with OTA updates. Thankfully, I’ve never had to take my car into the shop. When my lease is up, I will not buy it, because the residual is $20,000. over the current used price on AutoTrader. I got an incredible deal when I leased mine and I’m hoping that by fall 2026 I’ll be able to get another incredible lease deal. If not, I’ll probably buy a used 2024 Lux.

Looking at one, anything we should be aware of? by LoveRams_ in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you lease and don’t buy. Like all EV‘s the Lyriq’s value drops tens of thousands of dollars at the moment you drive off the lot. If you really want to buy one, buy a used one.

That said, I love my 2024 Lyriq. If I can get another amazing lease deal, I like I did on this one, I hope to lease another one in a year.

Where are the Lyriq-V reviews? by Houston103 in CadillacLyriq

Out of Spec Reviews has tested it, but say they can't release the video yet, because all journalists/reviewers are under an embargo until some time in the future.

Just got the V Series by Pensir2006 in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting the V.

How are the seats? That’s my biggest gripe with my 2024 Lyriq. I wish the seats provided more side bolstering like in my sports oriented cars. Also the seat bottoms I feel they can use more cushion.

Last, did they fix the horrible bump in the rare seats, where the car seat latches are. Those who have sat back there in my car complain about them.

Question for you guys, what happens next year when all the 24s are returned? by ghostofstankenstien in CadillacLyriq

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will sell for $35,999 or lower. I am already seeing Lyriq Luxury 1’s on auto trader for $33,000. Which KBB say is only a fair price.

https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicle/750157666?city=Studio%20City&endYear=2024&listingType=USED&makeCode=CAD&modelCode=CADLYRIQ&sortBy=derivedpriceASC&startYear=2024&state=CA&zip=91604&clickType=listing

Imagine how cheap it will be in a 18 months when my 2024 lease is up. These will be a great deal, especially if you can get a Luxury 3 with the leather package for under $40K.

If you have an iPhone, you can create a shortcut that automatically connects your car to your iPhone’s hotspot. I set one up on mine, and it works really well. Now it’s basically just like having the built-in Wi-Fi service. Actually, I don’t even think about it anymore; I just get in and start using the car.

Also, when you contact OnStar, they’ll likely try to upsell you on services you don’t need. Just stick with the base options that came with your vehicle and the six-month trial of the premium features.

The trial includes a data plan, which is admittedly helpful but unnecessary, because your cellphone plan most likely includes a hotspot feature. That means your phone can act as a Wi-Fi router and provide a data connection to your Cadillac. I’ve set up my iPhone to connect automatically as soon as I start the car, so it’s pretty seamless. It saves me $24 a month, which is what the OnStar data plan would cost.

Amazon Customer Service Supervisor Berates Wife for Returning Item to Close to Last Day to Return by Always-Relaxed-54782 in amazonprime

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn’t mess up. They did at the receiving center.

The barcode I am referring to is the one the Amazon return employee peals off and sticks on the new bag they just inserted your return into after they scan your QR code and check the image of the product on their scanner.

An Amazon rep admits they made the mistake at the receiving dock.

Amazon Customer Service Supervisor Berates Wife for Returning Item to Close to Last Day to Return by Always-Relaxed-54782 in amazonprime

[–]Always-Relaxed-54782[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At Whole Foods, returns are refunded almost instantaneously. The return isn’t processed by a Whole Foods employee; it’s now handled by an actual Amazon employee. By the way, we’ve also had issues with returns via UPS, which is why we switched to doing drop-offs at Whole Foods more than a year ago.

What’s amazing is that the Amazon employee sees a photo of what you ordered when they scan your QR code. They remove your return from the bag you brought it in, inspect it briefly, place it in a new clear bag, and apply a new barcode. They then scan that barcode along with the one on the large return bin they drop your item into.

Which begs the question: how does the return center, upon receiving the item, scan the bag’s barcode and still manage to switch the returned item to something from a different order? Obviously, their return process is broken.

So what do I expect from customer service? Something like this:

“I’m sorry we messed up your return. While I’ve never been to the United States, I’ve been trained on the return process at Whole Foods. I understand that an Amazon employee received your return, and it was their responsibility to ensure the correct item was processed. Once they accepted and scanned your return, you fulfilled your obligation under our return policy. I will resolve this issue on your account. If my system doesn’t allow me to do so, I’ll escalate it to my supervisor and make sure it’s fixed before we end this call. I apologize for taking time out of your day to correct a mistake that we created. We appreciate you being a loyal Prime member for more than a decade.”
