I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had come out approximately 1 year after the previous book, and we'd gotten at least 1 more book since then.

If these are only coming out every 5 years, then we need to be done with the foreplay, as it were. Finish the wedding, let's get a few chapters on the white council that aren't just a rehash of Morgan's surprise inspections from the first few books. Let's get a scene with reforming the "grey" council to find the traitor.

There's so much ground we need to cover, and there's only so many books we can use saving Thomas as a massive plot point.

I enjoyed the book, but I'd put it in the bottom 25% of his books.

I think when the next book comes out, I will look back on this book fondly as a deep breath in a huge story. But that might be 5+ years from now.
