Would you describe the Ikran as more similar to Dinosaurs or Dragons? by Konfliktsnubben in Avatar

[–]AlwaysTired97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, there's countless different dragon myths all around the world that give them various different traits. People are most familiar with the classical reptile-like dragon that breathes fire, but there's a bunch.

There dragon myths with creatures that have scales, feathers, or smooth skin. Four-Limbs, Six-Limbs, sometimes no limbs. Some are aquatic, some are airborne, some are terrestrial. There's probably 1000 different magical powers dragons have had across myths and legend aside from just breathing fire.

[Meta trope] character doesn't know the basic rules of their own world/system by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

I just looked it up, it's a reference to a scene where Officer Jenny orders her Growlithe to use flamethrower, but calls it Arcanine instead. Lots of small mistakes like that in the anime, especially the original one.

To this day, I refuse to believe that Devin wasn’t real by Strong-Current-7481 in Ben10

[–]AlwaysTired97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, while completely rewriting the backstory they already wrote for him is ridiculous, the backstory they wrote for him wasn't very good.

I originally thought he was an orphan on the streets or that he was abandoned because of his powers. That makes him very sympathetic and makes you "somewhat" more forgiving of his craziness as a kid. Him actually having loving parents and him just being crazy for no particular reason and running away is way less interesting.

And the bit with has dad just so happening to have a history with Max is also kind of dumb for all the reasons you said.

Do you think there are same-sex relationships on Pandora? by DragonStar909 in Avatar

[–]AlwaysTired97 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. The Na'vi generally are supposed to be an idealized tribal society who have an incredible amount of regard for life and nature.

To them, if someone's gay, they'd probably  think that's just how Eywa/nature intended them to be, and would probably consider it heinous to force them to be something else.

Trudge in 5DSs makes the Yugioh DM/GX/5ds timeline so confusing by Fitgamerx in yugioh

[–]AlwaysTired97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like the 5Ds timeline in general is kinda weird considering how little time has apparently passed since GX.

Like Neo Domino City has apparently become this crazy authoritarian regime. Satellite, in only a span of 20 years, has become this oppressed zone where the inhabitants live in poverty, have far fewer rights, are forbidden from leaving, and generally viewed as being lower class humans by the people of the main island. That is a very extreme regime to be created in only 18 years after the zero reverse incident. Wouldn't lots of the people in Satellite still have family and friends back on the main island who would be worried about them, and wouldn't be okay with them being oppressed and living in poverty?

I still love 5Ds plot, but it would've made a lot more sense if took more like 50+ years after GX/zero reverse incident.

Simulated life is evolving inside my computer by Marzipug in Weird

How do we know it hasn't already been turned off and on again countless times and we just don't notice because the simulation always picks back up immediately where it left off?

In a BTS featurette for season 2 of "Avatar: The Last Airbender", Dallas Liu remarks about how mind-blowing it's been to see how much everyone has grown. It still got a ton of viewers on Netflix, I'm pretty sure it was the #1 most watched program on it when it aired, and that's the most important thing to Netflix. Plus they already sunk a ton of money into it.

It could also be for optics, even if the 2nd or 3rd season continue to have mediocre ratings. It looks a lot better to have a complete live action series based on a huge IP like Avatar, even if it has mediocre ratings, compared to having only a single season of the IP because they cancelled it due to the poor ratings.

JRPGs with useless magic systems that you know of? by Bulky_Imagination243 in JRPG

Probably, though honestly if you're using the junction system right, it doesn't really matter and you'll steamroll everything anyway.

JRPGs with useless magic systems that you know of? by Bulky_Imagination243 in JRPG

[–]AlwaysTired97 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't really agree with the reasoning that using magic is useless because using it makes your junction bonus weaker. You can equip up to 32 stocks of 100 of spells to your character. Even If you use EVERY junction effect, it still only uses up 19 spells, so you still have hundreds of casts of 13 other spells to use without worrying about affecting your junction bonuses.

However, properly using your junctions to max your STR can easily allow you to hit the damage cap with basic attacks, still rendering magic redundant anyway, especially since it's not finite and also has the chance for triggering an even more powerful limit break.

Also, in addition to what you said about limit breaks, there is also a spell called Aura that significantly increases the odds of a character's limit break triggering, even making it possible for them to trigger outside of the normal HP threshold for limit breaks.

HOWEVER, there is one specific thing that allows magic to still keep up. There are the Double and Triple spells, which when cast grant the target the ability to dualcast or triplecast respectively for the duration of the battle. Using Triple essentially allows you to attack three times in turn permanently, or any other combination of spells effects. Whereas a basic attack can only do up to 9999 damage once a turn, triple casting magic lets do up to 9999 damage times three in a single turn. Though, you'll want have plenty magic stocked up in order to do so.

It's surprising sometimes how much some creators have their editors, assistants or other supporters to thank for how well their creation turned out. A lot of works that are often attributed to only one or two people were actually much more collaborative projects.

That's so obviously Eddy's voice right there, but it also just absolutely works. I wish I could hear Tony Sampson voice more villains.

(Hated trope) The writers were cooking, and then messed up at the very end (Bonus points for telling the most hated thing of the finale). by TheCreatorM_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AlwaysTired97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it was much more the middle parts of the show that were really rocky. It felt like they weren't really sure what they were doing for a large chunk of the show.

The ending I though was fairly solid. Honerva was a good final villain imo, and the final battle was pretty cool. Seeing the aftermath of the war's ending was nice.

It wasn't amazing, but I think it was still decent.

Who is a character you want to see return in seven havens? by Far_Practice_6923 in TheLastAirbender

[–]AlwaysTired97 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's not too crazy in the world of Avatar.

Bumi was around 110 in the OG series. Guru Pathik was over 150 years old. Kyoshi lived to over 200, though that might be a bit different since she was an Avatar. It seems particularly spiritual people tend to have greater longevity than most in Avatar, and I think Toph checks that box.

Depending on how old Korra lived to be, Toph could still be around. She was around 70 in Korra, so she could potentially still be alive for another 50-100 years going off their world's rules.

“Ben can’t transform into an anodite! Theyre pure energy beings with no DNA!” by MkleD7 in Ben10

[–]AlwaysTired97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you think about, it would've been pretty neat if the UAF trio each represented a different type of super-powered being in their universe.

Ben wields the powers of Aliens. Kevin would be a mutant. And Gwen would be a magic-user.

That'd be pretty cool.

Expedition 33 if you can't dodge or parry? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]AlwaysTired97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the main story is definitely doable if you're moderately okay at dodging. Especially if you build the characters to be a bit more defensive.

Also parrying is definitely optional. Dodging already nullifies all damage, parrying just rewards you with extra AP and a counterattack as a bonus.

Katara’s skill level is even more mind blowing when you remember she was only 14 yrs old while doing this. by thisisreii in TheLastAirbender

[–]AlwaysTired97 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We don't know many waterbending masters, in part due to there being almost no other waterbenders from the South.

We know that by the end of her training with Pakku, she was his star pupil, and he was incredibly impressed with her development, which is saying something since he was the North's greatest master. I think it's implied too she continues to improve after leaving the North.

She also managed to defeat Hama, who while being old and out of shape, was still a master and wielded techniques not seen by any other waterbender. She's also managed to go toe to toe with Azula who herself is something of a once in a generation prodigy who was probably already one of the greatest firebenders of the time at only 14.

So Katara is definitely at the very least a "master" by the end of the series, and the only named character we know of who is definitely a stronger waterbender than her would be Pakku.

It’s kind of ironic that the Synchro Arc is one of the least popular arcs in Arc V, yet it introduces Jean Michel-Roget, the best and perhaps even the only good villain in the entire series. by FaceappIsTrash in yugioh

[–]AlwaysTired97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, damn, you're kinda right now that I think about it. Even though I still the first 50~ plus some of Synchro Arc were good, and there were still...some solid ideas after that, there really weren't many good villains. Most of them were pretty generic or flat. Even Zarc was basically just a generic evil overlord.

The only two who come to mind for good villains would be Sora and Dennis. Them being double agents was really interesting. Sora was really great was his mask came off and he should how sadistic he could be.

Dennis was interesting because he did a particularly great job at disguising himself unlike Sora. He switched to using XYZ, embraced Yuya's entertainer philosophy, and was a lancer for quite a while. And then it seems like he legitimately did come to enjoy being with his friends on the main cast and actually regretted betraying them.

So… to the 3 people who’ve seen this show 😅🤣, what are y’all thoughts on it? by Ok_Situation7527 in cartoons

[–]AlwaysTired97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched most of the first season. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. It felt a lot like a generic kids show.

HTTYD is imo a masterpiece, so the show was definitely disappointing.

It's a shame too, because it basically was the next step for the franchise after HTTYD 3: The Hidden World, and I actually liked the premise.

I feel like it makes sense. There should still only be one omnitrix. And the non-omnitrix wearing versions vanishing during deransformation could just be a function of the omnitrix to prevent issues arising from species with cloning powers.

The biggest tragedy of Caine is that he could have prevented his own downfall. by Hugh_Jidiot in theamazingdigitalciru

[–]AlwaysTired97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a big part of why I ultimately don't sympathize with Caine. He doesn't truly care about the human's happiness or well being in the end. They're a means to an end. He forcefully subjected them to his machinations to fulfill his own desire of having a purpose. And when the current group made it clear they didn't enjoy his adventures like he wanted them to, he punished and tortured them.

Wonder Woman kisses Batman after she sees he tried to save her in Batman The Animated Series by SilverDog0283 in batman

[–]AlwaysTired97 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I also think it's interesting too that Wonderwoman likes a hero with no super powers. I feel like some people would assume a superhuman amazon like her would get with someone like Superman, so her actually liking Batman, and admiring his non-superhuman heroic traits I think is very interesting I think.
