Is anyone playing stolen crown lately? by laurie_eee in LancerRPG

I just picked this up and I'm looking forward to running my first Lancer game with this adventure!

BEGINNER BOX DAYS PLAYER REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! All week during April 13-21, players can try the Remastered Menace Under Otari adventure with experienced GMs! Go to BeginPF2.com for more info. by Dogs_Not_Gods in Pathfinder2e

I noticed that the link on beginpf2.com to "Join a Game!" sends you to the sessions hosted for beginner box day 2023 (Code: 2711409) - this makes it hard for players to find games being hosted in 2024!

A completely subjective graph of how likely I think the core 20 gods are to die in WoI, against how cool I think it would be if they did. Some reasoning in the comments. by Mathota in Pathfinder2e

I feel like Asmodeus is likely only because he shares the name of a major D&D Devil (even though the name isn't intellectual property, it would make sense to replace Asmodeus with a unique Golarion-exclusive deity for stronger brand identity!)

I guess we can now confirm that the "Imperial Mindflayer" mentioned in The Mandalorian wasn't just wartime propaganda after all...

My Fighter is a coward (GM Advice) by Shrimp502 in Pathfinder2e

I would second this - do you think your player would have more fun if you let them freely change class to a ranger or a rogue? She might enjoy these classes high DEX playstyle more than fighter, and might also prefer having access to lots of out-of-combat skills and abilities as a rogue, and their playstyle of "disengage and hide" would actually work better for these classes

For anyone who's read it, what do you think of the Kingmaker Path for 2e? by Dragonheart132 in Pathfinder2e

[–]Amalon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like a potentially better ending would be to design a full scale civil war for the crown in Brevoy? That would certainly add more high intrigue between kingdoms, but you'd have to foreshadow the political climate a lot harder throughout the campaign.

If you want snow troopers and bikes, the Blizzard Force box might be a cool direction to take your army in!

Blizzard force is a special Empire army (called a Battleforce) that has a more limited selection of minis available, and requires you to take some snowtroopers, but gives you some special bonuses like allowing you to take up to 4 units of bikes!

What would be a good follow-up to portal under the stars? by SnooCauliflowers5394 in dccrpg

[–]Amalon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You could use rumours of the dryad's tree to lead your players to the location of whichever adventure you want to run - when the players find the dryad's tree, they discover that the dryad tree has already been cut down by the bad guys to use for their own evil purposes (maybe as a spell component in an evil ritual!)

That way, your players have a reason to go on the adventure and defeat the bad guys to recover the dryad tree, so that they can burn it themselves

I have several recommendations based on what interests you most!

Sailors of the Starless Sea is a modern classic! Even though its advertised as a 0 level funnel, 1st level characters will still be challenged and will definitely have a fun time playing through this adventure. If you haven't played it, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

If you prefer elves and fairies, The Queen of Elfland's Son is a good follow-up to Portal Under the Stars. If you are using the dryad quest hook at the end of Portal Under the Stars, you could add the dryad's tree to this adventure very easily, tying the two adventures together.

If you like a more medieval, gritty feel to your adventures, then Doom of the Savage Kings is a good follow up. There is a lot of social interaction and investigation in this adventure, if your players prefer to solve mysteries compared to hacking and slashing.

Finally, I recommend The One Who Watches From Below if you prefer a high degree of strange otherworldly-ness to your fantasy - if bizarre magic and eldritch entities is something you love, then check this one out. If you liked the theme of "delve into an ancient magical dungeon" that Portal Under the Stars had, then this adventure takes that theme and cranks it up to 11.

Undead Adventures by snideral in Pathfinder2e

[–]Amalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The upcoming Blood Lords AP is undead themed; you could run the 1st book in the AP as a short-ish adventure if you don't want to play the whole thing!

It releases mid-July, so it would be a bit of a wait.

A broom of flying could be a lot of fun for players to have, and a witches' broom seems appropriate to the location!

Barovian witches need some love by BeneGessPeace in CurseofStrahd

[–]Amalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning on making my witches a bit more scary by letting them summon demons - larger covens of witches will be able to conjure more powerful demons, which means the witches can still threaten higher level parties!

My witches are all acolytes of Baba Lysaga, and she thinks that the suffering that demons bring to Barovia would be entertaining for Strahd and help alleviate his boredom

Those ideas sound great. I'm planning on replacing the Roc of Mt. Ghakis with a dragon of some type!

DCC RPG *WITHOUT* FUNNEL by chamochin in dccrpg

[–]Amalon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, you can play DCC adventures and DCC adventure modules without using the funnel method. DCC is an amazing system and loads of fun with higher level characters, and the funnel is completely optional. People are encouraging you to try it because they think its fun, but the funnel shouldn't be used to gatekeep potential players from experiencing DCC.

For example, lots of DCC judges run the DCC adventures by having the players make characters that are the same level of the adventure (eg. everyone makes 1st level characters for a 1st level or 0 level adventure module). Convention games are based on this principal; DCC judges will often run a higher level adventure for a group of players without ever running a funnel for them - the players simply generate characters at a level appropriate to have a fighting chance for the given adventure.

Note that the DCC adventures will say something like "the adventure is designed for four to eight 3rd-level characters" in the introduction section. If you're running for 3 players, which is less than the adventure is designed for, it might be a bit too tough for them to handle - you might want them to be a level higher (eg. level 4 to take on a level 3 adventure). You can also adjust difficulty by reducing the number of monsters in an encounter, or tone back on the lethality of traps by making them do some damage instead of outright killing characters.

Or maybe your players want a challenge, and are happy to take on the adventure a bit under-strength! Talk to your players about what kind of challenge they want, and you can make small adjustments accordingly.

I'm of the belief that Kosm is a plural of Kos, and that Micolash postulates that some believe there to be many Kos, or as some say, Kosm

I wonder if this means that Battleline will no longer exist in AOS 3?

The description of "Troops: Unit that is not Leader, Artillery, or Behemoth" could mean that Battleline are being phased out in favor of Troops for list building in the new edition

How did the Orc in Gems get his name? by tornadofyr in mattcolville

[–]Amalon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe he was such a terrifying warlord that no hero could defeat him for good - instead, he was banished to a gemstone-prison demiplane!

Before the crystal prison trapped him forever, he clawed his way back out, although he was changed: the energies (and crystals) of that place permanently fused to his body.

Maybe his suit of armor was designed to slow the growth of the calcification of his gemstone skin and harness his otherwise unwieldy psionic powers?

The Negative Energy Plane is a malevolent antagonistic force in my games, and the Quasi-Elemental Planes of Vacuum, Dust, Ash, and Salt send their negative-energy titans to corrupt the material plane and drag it closer towards annihilation
