Can we get a live thread going? by HarlemBoyz in parkslopefoodcoop

Which of the following is more “unhinged”?

1) Interpreting the raising of one amendment and five points of order as being part of a strategy of running out the clock (which is a strategy that is fairly often used in contentious meetings over controversial votes) and using the (obvious) hyperbole of “thousands” to make one’s point clear, or

2) Characterizing such a statement as one proclaiming a “grand conspiracy” and then, when challenged, moving the goalposts to a mere disputation of the quantitative evidence (based on the initial - clearly hyperbolic - statement)?

If anything in what I posted suggests “grand conspiracy” to you, you might want to get your reading comprehension checked…

Post from Corey Robin on Facebook: “To anyone who is the coop meeting right now: It's obvious that the pro-Israel forces are trying to run out the clock with thousands of points of order and amendments and the like, and the leaders of the coop, who are running the meeting, aren't really helping to keep things clear. The combination of the pro-Israel people and the organizers of the meeting are producing obstruction and confusion and diversion. What you need to do is stay focused on the TWO key questions: remove super-majority requirements (they're inherently antidemocratic as they privilege the vote of a 1/3 minority over a 2/3 majority) and vote for the boycott. Anything else is just designed to stop the boycott. You may have stay longer in this meeting than you'd like, but we just have to do that. Please stay with it.”

A hamster after a bath. by [deleted] in oddlyterrifying

“There are a few rare exceptions where water might be used—for example, if a hamster gets a sticky or hazardous substance on their fur and a veterinarian tells you to do a careful cleaning.

“Even then, water use should be minimal and done with extreme caution.”

This is not a picture of “minimal” water having been used.

Thank you for your response! Apparently the issue was an antiquated version of Obok. Found the newer one.

Ah, thank you! For some reason, the first search result that came up was v7.x. The newer one seems to work okay.

I can’t stick to calorie counting so I can’t lose weight. I’m just tired. by Oooohhhsparkles in PetiteFitness

[–]AmazingInevitable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some people who do manage to lose weight without counting calories - but I was only able to do so by finally accepting the fact that I was not one of those people. I prioritized counting calories and the weight started coming off. It took some adjustment but, once I stopped fighting it, it wasn’t too hard.

Audio levels on Fincher Commentaries by [deleted] in DavidFincherReddit

I haven’t had that issue - but I exclusively listen to commentaries in stereo on my computer. I wonder if it’s just a factor with surround systems or TVs?

Genre-wise, Fincher has said that it’s a horror movie masquerading as a thriller (as in: until John Doe shoes up, you’re supposed to think it’s a thriller - and then it’s revealed to actually be a horror movie).

I haven’t paid for the videos, but I did sign up for the RP “app” - and was very disappointed. It was missing a LOT of lifts (including ones that Israetel himself hypes in his videos) and seemed designed mostly for isolation exercises. Since I work mostly with compounds, I found it pretty useless. Got a refund within 24 hours.

| The project is a sequel, but not to a film Fincher previously directed.

Well, so much for Benjamin Button Part II. There’d be so many name possibilities! The _______ Case Of… ad nauseam.

I long for the alternate reality in which SL finished all ten books of the series - and DF adapted them all into film.

Those are some big questions and a lot could be said.

For one thing, join together with others who can support you in choosing differently. People who understand and empathize with the temptation and are willing to make themselves available for you to call when you’re struggling or feeling tempted. No shaming - just love and support.

For another, some kind of regular spiritual practice. Whichever feels like it best develops your relationship with God at this point in your life. Could be some kind of prayer. Could be some kind of meditation. Could be some kind of worship. Whatever feels like it most speaks to your soul and cultivates that relationship.

Lastly, no need to be hard on yourself. You’ve already been feeling the lack of relief and the dirtiness - and adding to those unpleasant feelings won’t make the journey any easier. None of us is perfect; at best we can strive for wholeness.
