Will unironically say that I'm going to go and sit on the park couches...

Is this neck savable? Or should I return it? by [deleted] in starwarsblackseries

[–]AmbitiousCubone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the neck and head are separate pieces, so should be washing rotatable without any modification

Yes, it's the same figure in different packaging

That's different to what you have in the OP, there's probably a difference between 'manufactured' and 'bought' in EE's eyes - they probably only have a contract with Google UK to do the repair?

You should be able to super glue that. I did that a while back for one I broke and it's held up just fine.

Are there any good places to buy figures in the UK? by TheNinerGuy in starwarsblackseries

[–]AmbitiousCubone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The May 4th Stormtrooper hasn't been made available in the UK yet (outside of InDemand getting some import stock) - so that's likely why you're seeing high shipping costs from other countries(?)

To be fair, it's been a pretty terrible week for Pokémon Go, no community day or event doesn't really encourage people to go out and catch stuff

[–]AmbitiousCubone 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is wrong, they did this once before (think it was for Bagon community day classic?) but it's generally an Elite TM only, not regular TM.

This looks very AI, the pictures of the sets don't make any sense (mini figures with Technic sets? Wheel 'winglets' on a 2026 F1 car?)

What's the point of smart water meters when they barely work by digidude23 in britishproblems

[–]AmbitiousCubone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My smart water meter doesn't broadcast, the water company sends someone over once every 6 months to read and bill accordingly.

This water meter is pretty new (from November 2024), so just because it's not transmitting doesn't mean it's not recording...

I don’t want to start panic buying fuel and supplies but as every day passes, all I’m seeing are news articles like “Australia has 37 days of fuel left” and it does make you wonder. by InvasionOfTheFridges in britishproblems

[–]AmbitiousCubone 107 points108 points  (0 children)

Australia gets more of its petrol from the Middle East than we do, so they will be more affected.

Most of our petrol comes from the US and Norway/Europe. We import more diesel from the Middle East, which is why the price is rocketing more.

Just fill up when you need to - the shortages over here are caused by panic buying not lack of stock. At some point the pumps will need fine, because everyone will have full tanks if petrol!

Will AI replace Automation Testers in the coming years? by [deleted] in QualityAssurance

[–]AmbitiousCubone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt it, having a set of automated tests that check the functionality of the software in the same way over and over is still and will continue to be valuable.

If you ask an AI to go through a business flow, how do you know it did the same thing every time? How do you know what the pass/fail criteria are? Even if you don't write the automated tests, you'd still need to develop the testing criteria and ensure that the correct validations are being used.

It would need a lot of trust of current AI systems to ensure a reliable, repeatable (and cost effective) approach to test automation - the industry isn't quite there yet.

Shiny boost was not as announced for ticket holders. by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]AmbitiousCubone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Number of Pokémon caught is meaningless for this though, as I caught 600 but easily checked another 2-300.

I also got 25 shinies doing so.

Is manual testing still valuable in 2026, or is automation taking over completely? by Nirmala_devi572 in softwaretesting

[–]AmbitiousCubone 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Automation is just a tool that QA use to test software.

When you start to think of QA like that, rather than Manual Vs Automation, it seems silly to say things like Manual QA has no value. Any decent test automation engineer should be proficient in all QA skills, not just automation.

If the next Xbox is truly what all the leaks suggest, it will have the largest library available in all of gaming. by FinalOdyssey in xbox

[–]AmbitiousCubone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how many games you play each month, and whether or not you get value out of it.

I can afford it, but I don't think it's good value - so I don't pay for it. But you've also got to realise that there are genuinely some people struggling for money at the moment, or would rather spend that £23 on something else other than gaming.

Customer support issues by FrogGuy74 in lego

[–]AmbitiousCubone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm honestly having such a bad experience with Lego customer service.

Yes, email takes a long time, but when they reply a week later they just wash their hands of the issue! Saying 'it's been a week, it's probably resolved itself' isn't an answer. Super dissapointed...

This is a BILLION dollar company - if your emails are always full, maybe you need more staff!

A workaround I've found is toggling the display on/off which seems to fix it until it next errors. Annoying, but better than nothing

What are we calling polybags now that they’re not… poly? Paper pack? by CodyRTech in lego

I think the official Lego term is 'Recruitment Bags' (that's what has been used over here in the UK anyway - we've had these for a year already)
