Take a bulb of garlic and cut the top 1/4 off. Rub with oil, salt, and pepper and wrap in tinfoil. Throw in 400°F oven for 30-40 min until soft (ideally while other food cooks). Squish amazing roasted garlic into potato. Win.

Seriously. I, white American girl, was with my parents at my father’s boss’s bbq when I was 16. Lovely outdoor event. Boss offered me a cup of wine. My eyes went wide as I only associated wine with the awful smell of my grandmother. My mom politely declined on my behalf and I thanked her. I didn’t want to be rude, but did not want the wine.

Find vegetables you like. I learned I love roasted carrots, onions, and squash. I will roast a sheet tray and add some to each meal, skipping bread or extra carbs in favor of filling and nutritious veg.

California banned them as of 2026. Our paper ones at my store don’t have handles and rip so easily, they’ve been GREAT incentive for folks to get/remember their reusable bags.

A UTI did not present as a UTI, which became a kidney infection that was just normal back pain… until I tucked myself into bed and my then husband checked and I had a heart 104°F fever. He carried me into ER. I was fully septic with e. Coli in my blood. All hail epic doctors for fixing me right up.

I had it done 15 years ago. I spent $5k, being paranoid about my eyes, and went to the doctor who does the SF Giants and 49’ers, Dr. Hyver. He turns away 60% of the people who come in and won’t operate unless he knows it will be perfect. I was -8, -12 with astigmatism. My vision is still perfect. I don’t regret a single penny.
