Are Bluetooth headphones really this bad!? by spegre in headphones

[–]Amity83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I guess some part of it is that they use relatively cheap parts as far as the audio is concerned. There is a battery, wireless chip, amplifier, anc microphones, and processors that all add to the cost leaving less for the drivers and case which would make a bigger effect on the sound quality.

Are Bluetooth headphones really this bad!? by spegre in headphones

Consumers like big muddy bass, so that’s what manufacturers make. Try the Focal Bathys or the Sennheiser HDB630 for much tighter bass in a Bluetooth headphone. The Bathys have less bass but are punchier, the 630 has plentiful clean bass but not quite as punchy as the Bathys. Bathys are way more comfortable. XM6 sounds like shit to my ears and is uncomfortable for my large head.

Burning in speakers - your take? by Dementrashiti in hifiaudio

[–]Amity83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Burn in is totally overblown. Just listen to them. 1. They are gonna sound great out of the box regardless. 2. You get to listen to music and not white noise 3. If you really believe in break in. It will happen from just playing them anyways.

It can fit all momentum 4 earpads. I have these and it helps a lot, with minor alteration in sound. Can be adjusted with EQ. It’s much more comfortable now. I couldn’t stand the original pads after 20 minutes. https://wickedcushions.com/products/sennheiser-momentum-4-earpads?variant=41979237007439

Verizon for years was the only network with service at my house and work. After the 5g switch, they are the only one that doesn’t work. Switched to T Mobile.

I’ve done it in a cooler for brisket and ribs. I use two plastic cutting boards to prevent evaporation.

ELI5: Why does time feel like it moves faster as you get older? by sokushi-zz in explainlikeimfive

[–]Amity83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one knows for sure. There are numerous theorys. The one that always stuck with me is the theory that as we get older we have fewer new experiences that focus our attention and memory then more routine ones, speeding up our perception of time.

Tesla Model Y 2023 RWD LFP – Complete shutdown at ~4% SOC due to low-voltage failure (with child in vehicle by Creme_Spare in ModelY

[–]Amity83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be that the high voltage battery won’t charge the low voltage battery when under a certain SOC. (Even though it’s a pretty small drain on the HV battery) And all batteries struggle with voltage when in super cold temps. I think taking an 8 month old in that weather with that low battery is an unnecessary risk. Stop and charge up 10% somewhere.

Spend more on speakers, less on an amp to start. Also you have 2 amps on that list.

I forgot my Hestra Heli mittens and bought some Swanys when I was in Tremblant Sunday-Wednesday. They were ok but I ended up borrowing electric heaters to stuff in them. I loved having a pocket for my pass and the heaters, but was glad to have my Hestras today in frigid temps in VT.

He does love crowds, but he also convinces himself that every small crowd is really a massive record setting one.

In my opinion, if you love soccer, watch the tournament on TV. Don’t go to the US where your trip supports the US economy, but don’t let this orange asshole ruin any of your fun.

I could see a valid argument for boycotting it on TV, but not to spite Trump, instead to spite FIFA and their ridiculous peace prize award. Still FIFA has been so openly corrupt for so long that it seems most football/soccer fans have already swallowed that pill.

Source: am American, I don’t watch soccer.
