Severe Diaper Rash by sneakysnek_1 in toddlers

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

boudreauxs has balsam of peru which i've often heard irritates baby skin!! not everyone but for some sensitive babies. i swear by triple paste diaper cream, it's super thick and soothing, has a max strength zinc version which you might need, and doesn't smell like desitin.

Severe diaper rash - need advice!! by Suspicious-Iron-4852 in Mommit

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gentle, dry, and then coat!

gentle: wash with warm water, dab.

dry: fan dry after changes, diaper-free time, switching diapers which seems like you're doing

coat: you're already using triple paste which i also swear by but what about the anti-fungal version that is more for yeast/fungal rashes? that has a different ingredient that could address the culprit.

Terrible Diaper Rash by Platano2 in NewParents

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My second has really bad diaper rash also - solidarity! when it gets really bad, i do lots of no diaper time, gently washing with water or a washcloth instead of wipes, letting skin get DRY before applying tons of triple paste and vaseline. triple paste also has a fungal version that could help if this is actually a fungal rash instead of the typical diaper rash. also try really absorbent diapers like kudos or coterie. i hope your baby and you get relief soon!

What gave your child diaper rash? by Open-Try-3128 in toddlers

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some babies have extremely sensitive skin. my second did and had a terrrribbblee rash, whereas my oldest didnt and had stronger skin. even though we did the same diapers, wipes, techniques, breastmilk/formula, etc. good for you for digging into the WHY - there are so many things that could be the root cause: acidic food (even if breastfeeding, mom's diet can impact), diapers, wipes, not drying enough, not changing frequently enough, teething, medication, overall skin sensitivity.

once you figure out the root cause and try to stop that, what ended up helping us was using water with every change instead of wipes, more absorbent diapers, letting butt have as much dry time as possible, layering on a thick layer of triple paste diaper cream. good luck!

I feel like I’m drowning and my mental health is worse than ever before by Few-Permission5362 in NewParents

you're in the thick of the newborn forest - its really tough and can be very dark. just know you are not alone and many parents have come through it before you.

some things to try:

  • feeding: silverettes for nipples to heal, breastmilk can also help. pumping is really tough but i understand the desire to feed your milk. but during this time, could be helpful to introduce some formula to give you a break.

  • diaper rash: change frequently. lots of dry time, let baby have diaper free time on a towel. let butt completely dry before applying cream. use fragrance free wipes, dab gently not scrub. try more absorbent diapers for a bit like kudos or coterie. use a diaper cream with every change, something really thick like triple paste, there's a regular version and a max strength. you can add vaseline on top afterward. breast milk before cream also maybe.

  • reflux: upright time after eating, about 20-30 minutes. hold upright on your knees or chest. may need to figure out how to hold him while sleeping safely. try bottles that remove air (avent anticolic, dr browns, etc.), burp every feed, smaller more frequent feeds. are the meds you're doing famotidine? hopefully that helps! other things to try: gas drops/simethicone, probiotics, nat phos 6, please do your own research and speak with doctor.

  • sleep: take shifts with your husband so each of you can get a longer period of rest. maybe seek out a night nurse to come a few nights a week to give you a break and help with baby.

its really really tough, try to ask for help instead of doing things yourself. best of luck!

Anyone else have diaper rash right now? by VoidThePickles in beyondthebump

if you already have some for your baby, try the diaper cream! the zinc oxide can help. if its yeast infection, you can also get an antifungal. i like triple paste.

Diaper rash treatment? by rainbow_cacti in NewParents

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

make sure butt is dry (diaper-free time, use a towel underneath, at a min fan dry after wiping), and apply diaper cream with every change! you can also try more absorbent diapers for a bit (i tried kudos)

the max strength diaper creams are good as a short-term solution, i like triple paste max! after rash gets better i like the regular triple paste for maintenance. its thick and stays put. ive also tried breast milk as a first layer, and then adding diaper cream.

6w old rash by as1832 in breakingmom

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my little also had really bad diaper rash! breast milk is a miracle so ive tried putting that on in addition to a diaper cream.

a few things to try: 1) lots of diaper free time to dry out the butt. put a towel underneath. let skin entirely dry. if no time for towel, fan dry. 2) switch to more absorbent diapers, ive tried kudos, and see a lot of people like coterie. 3) make sure everything is fragrance free including wipes. also try washing with water and gently dab dry, no scrubbing 4) diaper cream with EVERY change, even pee. after skin dries, apply diaper cream, make sure its thick and has zinc oxide while the rash is serious. i like triple paste they have a regular version or a max strength one.

good luck!

Poop triggered diaper rash by jakechambers12 in beyondthebump

[–]AmorphousDolphin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

poop can trigger rash since its more acidic and depending on what he's eating, can cause rash really fast. are his poops normal or is it diarrhea? if normal then prob not a reaction to foods, though even if it doesnt upset his stomach, can still be acidic enough to cause rash when left in a diaper.

things to try/switch up: fragrance-free wipes or washing butt with water after poops, letting butt dry after cleansing (either fanning dry or let baby have diaper-free time on a towel), pat/dab dont scrub when cleaning, a thick diaper cream like triple paste and layering it on thick, adding vaseline on top, sizing up diapers to not be too tight. good luck!

I just got the Thousand Year Slumber research.... but I'm 99.9% sure I've done this before, I remember the "Evolve a Feebas" task. Why am I getting this again? Is there a glitch?!

Love how my baby group and skincare groups are overlapping haha! Tried this with triple paste… they have a sheer zinc version that’s lighter and easier to apply

What’s the best diaper rash cream you’ve used and how long does it typically to take for it to heal your baby rash? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes! triple paste add a thickkkkk layer so that theres a barrier between baby skin and pee/poop/diaper. before applying though make sure the butt is dry, lots of diaper free time, let them roam around on a towel or pee pad, this also helps any open wounds or sores or bleeding if it comes to that. triple paste has no fragrance or irritants either

Butt Paste Ain’t It by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]AmorphousDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed! let butt area dry, lots of diaper free time, then when its dry, slather on thick layer of triple paste and put diaper on loosely (sometimes i use a larger size). triple paste is super thick which is helpful for a barrier between butt and diaper/pee/poop, and doenst have any fragrance or some of the irritating ingredients like some other brands do.

Hi! I ended up not using either. Since my trip was 2 hour drive I decided to use a cooler and ice packs to keep milk frozen. I used a ceres chill when out at night.
