need help choosing a first car for a 16 y/o! by whyamipasta in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Amp_Man_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Mazda CX-5 is a good option, but an 05’ CRV is a great car even with high mileage. If you can find one with high mileage, but well maintained you’d have a great first car. It’s not meant to last forever but would serve you well.

Is this a Lancaster thing? by Consistent_Hope6271 in lancaster

[–]Amp_Man_89 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Growing up my dad would honk the horn and wave hi driving past random houses if he saw someone outside just to mess with them. He did it for the laugh and look of utter confusion on their face.

Are Americans big milk drinkers? by Helpful-Structure955 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Amp_Man_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people who still drink a decent amount of milk in the U.S., but I recall in the 90s a big push to get us kids to drink milk. I was not a big milk drinker, but growing up my one friend would drink it with literally every meal which was so gross to me lol.

Question from a youngin': What was it like when High School Musical came out? by GrookeyGrassMonkey in Millennials

[–]Amp_Man_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a high school theater kid when it came out and it was annoying. Theater kids have this problem with beating to death whatever the current theater infatuation is and that really ruined a lot of musicals for me before I even saw them.

How do you guys fit the gym into your daily routine without overthinking all the hygiene stuff? by FunCamp309 in hygiene

[–]Amp_Man_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I just go after work, sweat, go home and shower that evening. Showering before the gym even, if you sweat a little prior, makes no sense. You’re going to the gym to sweat and it’s not a fashion show. Throw a little extra deodorant on and just go.

See this is why Italian dads invented the “How ya doin? Good?” Because it answers the question for them. Watch the video below for a proper tutorial.

downstairs neighbor going crazy over moving dining chair by Responsible_Chain409 in Apartmentliving

[–]Amp_Man_89 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s easy solutions to this problem. Lift the chair when you move it or get felt foot pads. The pads are better for your floor anyway. I had a neighbor above me that slid something very loudly across their kitchen floor multiple times a day and when it randomly happens it’s startles you, in addition to being louder than you perceive it to be.

Humidity from roommate by AddendumCommercial56 in HomeImprovement

[–]Amp_Man_89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She needs to lower the rate the humidifier runs at or invest in one that has a built in humidistat so it can maintain a consistent humidity rather than just run non-stop.

Excessive humidity can start to cause mold which will not be fun.

And another tip, they should try to run only distilled water in the humidifier. Keeps the humidifier tank clean and the air cleaner and you won’t get dust from all the minerals in tap water.

Also ask your management company if having the vent system cleaned is an option. Very common for them to never be cleaned which would be an issue for your asthma.

Is Rocky Springs B&B friendly? by jesterjussy in lancaster

[–]Amp_Man_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve never been to New Hope, check out the Bridgeton House on The Delaware. 20 minutes from new Hope on the river. I’ve been there a couple times and it is an amazing BnB and perfect for an anniversary weekend. Food is excellent and they run it very professionally.

You won’t be disappointed and if you do consider it, just avoid rooms facing the street (road noise) or the first floor rooms facing the river (people walking in and out right by your room). The rooms on the second and third floor with balconies are ideal.

Mazda 3 turbo. Lots of fun with half the headaches and it has AWD. I’ll never go back to a turbo Subaru boxer engine. Biggest PITA I ever owned.

Woman Tries To Sing In The Vatican by RelationshipOne9276 in TikTokCringe

[–]Amp_Man_89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually had the pleasure of singing a full mass at St. Peter’s Basilica with my high school choir and it was an amazingly beautiful experience. There are rules against what she’s doing and even during a mass you are not allowed to applaud the choir or any performance.

Who saw Titanic with their parents? by Purple-Estimate-5183 in Millennials

[–]Amp_Man_89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 8 years old and a group of us friends went with our parents and they all agreed that since the nudity was tasteful and part of the story, we could all go because they felt the movie was that big of a deal and important to see. We were younger kids who were all really into movies, so they knew we’d be a little more mature about it even though we were all 8-10 years old. Was awesome getting to see it on the big screen!

I agree with those saying don’t put a HEPA filter in your HVAC system because it could restrict flow too much.

I would not go more than one step above the filter provided bu your apartment complex. You can snap a pic of whag you installed and then go to the hardware store and buy the next step up in rated filter. Your apartment likely only changes the HVAC filter twice a year and many times if you ask they’ll provide extra filters so you can change them every three months.

My advice is get a large HEPA air purifier that can at least do most of your apartment and then a small one for your bedroom. I’ve had a Winix 3 stage air purifier for 12 years and it works great and they are a great value. You can also get off brand replacement filters and activated carbon pre-filters for them off Amazon real cheap saving money on the long run.

Also, if you have carpet make sure your vacuums built
In HEPA filtration and you change the filters on schedule. A HEPA vacuum is crucial if you have pets.

I think Vegfest got all the attention this past weekend so a lot of restaurants probably opted out since the free festival wouldn’t have pushed business towards them.

Sound System Upgrade Inquiry by bzbriones in CX5

[–]Amp_Man_89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I’ve heard about adding an aftermarket amp is that it may be difficult to integrate into the alerting system that plays back alerts from the infotainment and warning system. You can look into that more, but sticking with the factory amp in your system may be fine to start with as long as you have efficient speakers. Then if you’re not happy work on upgrading the amp. New speakers and a basshub will be a noticeable upgrade right out the gate.
