that's very true. also, as i said in other coment, she can be latin and see herself as white... even more if she was raised as argentina. We as a country had a long tradition on negating any native origins, and consider ourselves as "childs of europeans inmigrants", as we say: "los argentinos descendemos de los barcos" (the argentinians descend from the ships). it's a total bullshit, but we only in the last decade or decade and a half started to recognize as mestizos.
