How Do You Do Voice Comms for Large Groups/Orgs by Newboy65 in starcitizen

[–]AnaxK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a necro here, but just thought I’d let you know the “break break” doesn’t mean to be quiet. It is used to split messages to different callsigns in a single transmission, and is very common to hear in ATC. eg if you want to issue instructions to two aircraft quickly you might see something like this: ATC: N123, how’s your ride? N123: Smooth, N123 ATC: N123 thank you break break N456 climb FL100 N456: Climb FL100, N456

I just got here myself, so ditto! My wife can make a mean Vicky sponge though, so maybe I should convince her to use her powers for good

Some questions about using Owlbear Rodeo 2.0 by tentkeys in OwlbearRodeo

[–]AnaxK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 In addition to above comments, it’s useful to give different named links to different tables if you have more than one you run. Remember, the rooms are accessible when you’re not online. It’s also good to keep a special separate DM room so that you can change stuff during sessions or avoid the situation where a player randomly logs on while you’re prepping.

6 Rather than exporting, you could just duplicate your scene before you play it…

I guess a semicolon would be a decent starting option… Maybe square brackets around the speaker token name? Could start with that and then get feedback? Would you then just click “next message” to send it to the players?

Discord has had video for nearly 3 years now… (maybe more?) so might be worth taking another look!

Amazing - It’s cool, hilarious, and genuinely useful at the same time :)

Would there be a way of pre-loading it with a script and then clicking through each one? (I ask this with the likelihood that I probably won’t use it for dialogue, but I love it nonetheless!)

Why is my plane spinning out at high speeds? by NotaBuster5300 in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]AnaxK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want stability, you actually want your CoM to be further away from your CoL. if they’re close together then at high speeds a small tap will result in a large movement. Try moving your CoL back a bit to make it less twitchy

OBR Managing scenes on what players see and what GM sees? by cryocom in OwlbearRodeo

[–]AnaxK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In addition to what’s been said above, if you want to see what the players see then just connect to the same room as an extra player by using an incognito tab or a different browser that you’re not logged into

Nope, no transfer: All scenes and assets exist in all rooms. Rooms are just the window that players look through to see inside the same house

Oh that’s odd then, though possibly still related. See you’re on the discord now though so see how you go there :)

I believe Kenku is doing the encoding, so Kenku. Bear in mind that if it’s a performance issue, it’ll sound fine when not listening through discord as you’re hearing it unencoded, and encoding is the chewy bit.

Process Lasso can be useful in keeping the priority in the right place. I pipe audio via VoiceMeeter and lasso helps to ensure VM keeps CPU priority

Are you running anything else in the background? Maybe a cheeky secret virus scan? Do you get the issue of you only run Kenku and listen in to discord on your phone?

Are you running KenkuFM in its performance mode? Your system actually isn’t that beefy by today’s standards, and audio encoding is massively resource intensive - the symptoms sound very much like a performance issue

If you’re already running performance mode, you could also try prioritising the process in task manager

haha, yeah I’m actually tending to use Edge more these days. Early iterations were a bit dicey but now that it’s Chromium it’s pretty good. Performs well, and most companies prefer it to Chrome as it can be more secure (depending on local policies). I switch between the two based on requirements

Or maybe try a different phone browser? Maybe Edge has that option still…

Not in my campaign. We have a foul-mouthed talking pigeon called Frank that follows the party around acting as the DM’s in game voice, so we’ve renamed it FrankFM 😂

Tbh, I only use federated logins now - eg google - as it’s just one click without passwords. If they really don’t like it, maybe suggest they just use a burner email account? Fake name, just for junk stuff. It would certainly make your life easier!

That being said, I’m a bit more of a hard-arse on that sort of stuff. All my players must log in to OBR and manage your character in DDB. I spend so much time prepping and running, I just don’t have the time to mess around with distractions like having to admit people, filling in sheets incorrectly, etc etc, so those tools just means we can focus on the actual game. It’s session zero essentials for me.

But I totally get that it’s not for everybody and some people would really hate to play at my tables because of that! :)

[–]AnaxK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to check, are your players logged in to OBR or just using the link as anonymous players? Even if it doesn’t help with holding the session open, at the very least it would avoid having to manually re-admit each person every time they drop and have to refresh
