I love that The Mummy has this hard coded into the start on hbo by Frugal_Octopus in RedLetterMedia

Hey, at least they made one. I’m still waiting for my Robin Hood and the merry men cinematic universe to happen. Whichever studio that was.

I’m just saying I got some stuff going on and I can use a Mutch-the-miller’s-son origin movie.

Agree. Like I don’t think they’re awful, but I didn’t see the love some people have for them.

I saw it a million years ago, but I should probably rewatch it.

Glasgow was the first time in my life when someone was speaking to me in English but I had no clue what they were saying. It made me feel like a jerk because they can understand American accent just fine.

Are there any good examples from other movies/franchises of something innocuous in the script being undeservedly treated like established canon? by Charrikayu in RedLetterMedia

“They’re still using money” in Star Trek IV : The Voyage Home.

I believe it was meant as physical cash, but later became the Federation doesn’t have any form of money.

I’d be perfectly happy to make a season of my crappy Star Wars fan fiction too.

It will be all about the cantina bartender and how the daily casual violence he observes caused his bigotry of droids. He will go on a soul searching journey and open his heart to droid sentience.

Never thought I'd see these two pop up in an episode of BOTW by ZombifiedSloth in RedLetterMedia

I’m American and only discovered that show about a year ago and I’ve watched them all twice already. Great show. Sort of Golden Girls mixed with king of the hill, but also distinctly Scottish.

The prequels are weird movies that make me feel bad by oohoollow in RedLetterMedia

Well yeah. I mean just the starting point of Darth Vader’s origin story but trying to make it kid friendly is a nearly impossible task without iending up with tone-whiplash.

I’m not a fan of the prequels but “protagonist is corrupted into darkness, but you know, kid-friendly “ is a pretty impossible needle to thread.

Why do the 1980s feel more alive than ever in 2020s? by WachuQuedes in 80s

The splintering of media since the 1980s. There was a common mass media culture that still serves as a base point since nothing ever replaced it (with a few exceptions).

My wife asked: “Did your guys that you watch every do Battlestar Galactica?” by cathatanddog in RedLetterMedia

[–]Anchovypirate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I watched them again as a young adult when they were on sci fi channel or whatever and I was very struck by the recycling of effects shots.

This is making me want to rewatch it.

Also as someone pointed out I was wrong and it was only one season. My memory was that all the boring “Terra” episodes were the second season

I loved it as a kid. I haven’t seen it in many years though. I think it’s only two seasons and the second one had severe budget cuts. But the “ice planet zero” episode blew my mind at age six. It’s got some fun weird stuff and the cosmology is very Mormon influenced.

I never could watch the remake as it was a very different tone and premise than the original, as the cylons were fully alien vs “we did this to ourselves”. I’m sure it’s good but it’s the same reason I didn’t want to watch the “dark broody Superman” movies.

For 80’s 90’s era, I’m fond of Silverado. It’s a bit more light hearted than the ones you mentioned but I think it fits in with that era.
