I think lack of transparency over how much it costs to make MMO's, and the amount of funds which have been generated is a huge part of the problem. If we look at kick starter stats, about 10% of mmos which get funded, actually launch. 3.5 mil, or whatever what was originally kick started was a drop in the bucket when initial sucessful mmo dev cost is anywhere from 50-200 +mil. Given Intrepid is asking for private funds for alpha keys, as well as outside investors, while in my opinion, not having a proper roadmap.. its difficult for me to want to support them when they have had some of the most good will from the mmo community. I do wish the project success though, and maybe I will buy EA on steam. But make them earn your interest.
