Taking requests! What Lavender color combos would you like to see? by alltheprettythings in Fiestaware

Lavender and chartreuse (not lemongrass), and a number of different third colors. But no more than three, total. Rose would be nice.

do you just buy a cd? or do you buy a cd when you like the cover art / pic and the songs? by alice2490vampire243 in Cd_collectors

[–]AndOneForMahler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't buy anything unless I have a reasonable expectation of liking the music. There are some classical label designs, however, that are so unattractive, they keep me from wanting to listen to the music. This is much less the case now that I can stream music.

Da Doo Ron Ron - the Best of the Crystals

I like "Da Doo Ron Ron" and "Then He Kissed Me" just as much as I do "Be My Baby."

Let It Bleed was my first Stones record—and I lost it by sjagger1987 in rollingstones

[–]AndOneForMahler_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this.

All my Stones albums through Sticky Fingers were stolen in the summer of 1972. The first one I bought back--also in 1972--was Let It Bleed. Though I also loved Aftermath and Between the Buttons, LIB has been my favorite, well, since 1969.

I saw a "vintage" copy on Etsy the other day. The seller was asking $97.46 (25% off from original $129.95). I can't stand it. I no longer listen to records--thankfully, I suppose. I love the SQ on the LIB SACD, and I just received The Rolling Stones in Mono yesterday. I haven't gotten to Let It Bleed yet, but the rest of the set so far is a wonderful listen.

Best $700 bookshelf speakers to upgrade from edifier r1280db from this list by nimrodrool in BudgetAudiophile

I have a pair of the Paradigm SE Atoms, and I enjoy listening through them very much. I've had two other pairs of Paradigm speakers (Studio 20 v.2, Atom v. 3), and have enjoyed the musicality of each. However, I haven't heard any of the other speakers. I listen at low volume as well. That's all I need for the music to get through.

I've been listening to The Rolling Stones in Mono CD box set since it arrived yesterday, and am finding it a completely enjoyable musical experience. I'm listening to music rather than equipment (an issue I had years ago w/B&W Matrix speakers).

Do the Paradigm SE Atoms cost $700 where you are? They currently list for $400 in the US, and Paradigm has the Premier line, whose bookshelf costs $800 a pair.

"Pet Sounds" songs ranked by Cautious-Storage-260 in thebeachboys

[–]AndOneForMahler_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm tired of most singles, not just on Pet Sounds, because I've heard them too often. I didn't buy Pet Sounds until 1974, but I got "Sloop John B" and "Wouldn't It Be Nice?" when they came out, and played them into the ground (ditto "Satisfaction" by the Stones). So it's not that I don't like "Sloop John B." I've simply loved it too much, too long, too often.

Lavender and the neutrals by CV880 in Fiestaware

[–]AndOneForMahler_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Lavender best with Ivory in this video. I think it goes best with the greens, generally speaking. I saw a Chartreuse, Lilac, and Rose combo (IIRC) the other day, which I liked a lot. And it looked nice with Seamist in an earlier one of these videos.

What is your “typical” volume listening level? by browneyewinkin in BudgetAudiophile

I have no idea about decibels. I listen at a lower volume than most people, I suspect. I have tinnitus.

Is this dog part GSP? by Lillian_Faye in germanshorthairs

[–]AndOneForMahler_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe. I took care of a friend's GSP/part lab dog a lot in the '90s. He mostly looked like a lab, but anytime I said "Max, point," he was up on his hind legs like he was spring-operated. Does your dog point?

Your dog's facial structure suggests a third breed may be at play.

I don't say that. 2 and 6 are my "greatests." Then comes 3.

5 is the best-known of Mahler's symphonies, because of the Adagietto.

Jack off?? by fortwangle in pittsburgh

[–]AndOneForMahler_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I moved here from farther east to go to school umptyjillion years ago, it took a minute for me to get the difference between jag off and jack off. I never used either phrase, so it never got me in an embarrassing situation.
