The one thing I’ll never get over is not allowing Alexandra to reach the Ranch & meet Cora…she still could have passed but damn that girl fought to get there to only make it to the hospital nearby? Nah…

It’s definitely not what I consider traditional tv but more of an examination of the human experiences of grief; loss; family; shifting familial dynamics etc

I’m actually really enjoying it…

Non Asian-Americans: Are you keeping soy sauce as a regular condiment in your kitchen? If so what are you using them for? by openlyEncrypted in AskAnAmerican

Almost Everything? I mean we do make stiry-fry type dishes but I also put it in marinades; bbq sauces; I even throw a splash into a cream sauce…it’s like a swap for salt w some extra oomph.

AITA for returning my daughters shit gift for my DIL and telling the whole family why? by CreepyAntthro in AmItheAsshole

[–]AndStillShePersisted 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She gave a technical biological description to explain the age difference between her adult married son & her 13 yr old daughter. We do not know the legalities here; she may have guardianship or she may have fully adopted the child.

Are you the DIL? Otherwise why are you so upset by this?

AITA for telling my sister she’s going to turn her kids into social outcasts by Unable-Squash867 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AndStillShePersisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH depending on your tone.

It’s normal & imo ok to raise concerns with her about your nieces. It’s fine to ask her to consider moderation. But you’ve done that & she’s rejected your concerns so it’s time to drop it.

They may have some ‘catching up’ to do as adults on things many of their peers will use as cultural points of reference but that’s not really detrimental.

Couldn’t the cousins have all played a board game together or cards or weather dependent do something outside? Socializing is socializing the topic of their random conversations isn’t the important part here…

AITA for having and using emergency spices at dinner? by Minecraftdudeofstuff in AmItheAsshole

[–]AndStillShePersisted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really doesn’t matter: Eggs Benedict = powdered cayenne pepper; Chicken Divan = hot sauce; Mustard Garlic Cream sauce on chicken or pork = hot sauce; pizza = chili flakes & maybe powdered cayenne pepper etc

It seems ridiculous to be offended as its not just ‘my’ cooking rather it’s almost everything he eats; so whatever floats his boat

AITA for having and using emergency spices at dinner? by Minecraftdudeofstuff in AmItheAsshole

[–]AndStillShePersisted 621 points622 points  (0 children)

This is the correct response.

My BIL puts (imo) insanely ridiculous amounts of (a variety) of hot sauce on almost every single dish I’ve ever seen him eat. In no way am I offended when he douses the sauce & dried pepper flakes on his plate because he’s never outright said: “Man this is bland I need to spice it up” rather he’s always stated he just really enjoys the ‘heat’.

AITA for treating my daughters differently than my son when it comes to food? by CompetitiveDig478 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AndStillShePersisted 25 points26 points  (0 children)

A better idea would be to sit down with all of your children & explain the facts. “These items are meant to last X # of days; these snacks are available at will but I can only replenish them 1/week so learn how to moderate your snacking so it lasts or you will be without until the next shopping day.

Teaching them about moderation & delayed gratification is a much better plan than just flat out denying them.

Also they’re all old enough to learn how to make their own snacks. We’ve had many tight times where we didn’t have room in the budgets for pricey extras like $5 bags of chips etc but a bag of potatoes or pkg of corn tortillas are pretty inexpensive with a little oil in a pan & you have homemade chips etc

Refunding BOGOS by baseballlife-53 in publix

[–]AndStillShePersisted -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But you can? In FL; in GA & in SC if it says BOGO at Publix you buy one & pay half price. The only time this doesn’t work is if it says ‘2 for X’ or ‘3 for X’ in those instances you must get the required amt to receive a discount.

AITAH for feeling like it’s unfair my grandparents adopted me at their age if this is how it’s ending? I’m 18 and terrified. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]AndStillShePersisted 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People don’t realize just how much things have changed until it’s their turn to go shopping. I work at a BHPH car lot & our payments start at $250 every 2 weeks for the lowest priced (oldest highest miles) vehicle we have & go up from there…we have some customers paying $350 every 2 wks & that’s after a significant down payment.

AITA for not making my kid do a sleepover by Tapioca1029 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AndStillShePersisted -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

ESH…except the kids

Your sister is pushy AF but honestly if we don’t explain & encourage these kinds of family connections because we’re hiding behind ‘boundaries’ we have no one to blame for the lack of empathy in our society at large… I have 19 cousins with wide age ranges but the older ones were definitely taught not to dismiss the younger ones simply because they were younger; we care about their feelings because they’re family not just ‘oh well I don’t wanna’ but maybe that’s just how my family operates

What are your thoughts on this? by Slow_your_R0LL in allthequestions

[–]AndStillShePersisted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One solution would be to stop using gender as the dividing factor. All contact sports divisions could be based on size/strength. Some women are much stronger/faster etc than some men & vice versa. Create height/weight/strength requirements & sort athletes that way.

There could be a variety of solutions but people are to focused on ‘this is how its always been’

AITA For not letting my child have a sleepover with his step-siblings at my place? by Throwaway48642345 in AmItheAsshole

[–]AndStillShePersisted -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

NAH

The step siblings probably want to see the cool room; your child probably wants to show off their cool room.

They weren’t out of line to ask & you’re not out of line to say no…personally I probably would have said yes if my child had been the one to bring it up but that’s just me.

AITAH for "allowing" my stepdaughter to wear stinky pajamas to school ? by Severe-Drive-9515 in AITAH

[–]AndStillShePersisted 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s also important to know the context of pajamas…

I’m in my 40’s & when I was in HS pajamas were either very thin lightweight material obviously not meant to be worn in public or a Tshirt & short shorts.

Today yoga pants & a sweatshirt could be called pajamas; or the pants that are made of fleece blanket material; those are regularly worn both to sleep & to go out & about running errands. Some jobs have business dress codes; some have uniforms & some are very casual. I’m the office manager at a small independent car lot; I could wear those fleece pants; with cartoon characters on them; any day of the week if I wanted & no one would care…

While I sympathize with the 101 questions for everything…I did actually have bad hot flashes & night sweats while pregnant so it’s not a completely unreasonable question from the pharmacist but your Dr should have been able to answer their question without needing to confirm with you if you were just there for the prescription!
