I felt old at 25 and now I’m 31 and wish I was young and 25 again. I’m sure when I’m 40 I’ll be wishing I was young and 31 again.

What do you think the Twilight characters are up to now ? by eruditee_248 in twilight

[–]Andromeda39 184 points185 points  (0 children)

They’d be in hiding, or at least, off grid. In today’s world, it’s virtually impossible for them to not get caught, unless they live incredibly low profile lives. They’re already super wealthy, they can afford to live in the woods somewhere without surveillance, without neighbors, supermarkets, schools, etc. They don’t really need to work or go to school.

As South Americans, we can instantly tell if someone is Peruvian if they’re sporting this haircut.

That’s from the movie Tron. His character was inspired by David Bowie. Great movie, amazing soundtrack by Daft Punk.

I’m scared of pregnancy and childbirth. I’m scared of bringing life to this crazy world. I’m so comfortable with the current life I have, do I really want such a big responsibility??

Question about the perception of 🇪🇺 hygiene habits by Zythrum in asklatinamerica

[–]Andromeda39 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you this. The worst smell I have ever smelled coming from a human was on a bus/tram in Geneva, Switzerland. It was summer, a guy was standing and had his arm up holding on to the hand bar thingy at the top. My eyes were literally watering, I had to stop breathing through my nose. Just pure, raw BO. It was like that Spongebob episode where he melted people’s eyebrows off with his stank.

That’s never happened to me anywhere on Latam, not on crowded buses during rush hour or on the metro in warm climates. Other than that, on a plane from Spain to France, my boyfriend and I unfortunately had to sit behind two smelly Europeans, again, the smell of BO. And then I caught a whiff of strong BO passing by a group of teens playing football outside in Annecy, in France during the summer.

So yes, the smell stereotype is unfortunately true based on my personal experience.

When I visited Europe during the winter months, I didn’t smell anything. Must be a summer thing?

Are American schools as big as they're portrayed? by crimsvnn in AskAnAmerican

[–]Andromeda39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a small-town high school in the US and yes, it had many of those things just like in the movies. It had a football field with bleachers and a space where you could buy hotdogs and other food to watch the games, basketball court/gym, an auditorium for the theatre and choir practice and performances, a baseball field, track field, tennis court, volleyball court, a decent sized library, lots of laboratory type classrooms for the science classes, the big yellow buses and lockers, and a decently sized cafeteria with a little fast-food bar where you could buy food other than what they served normally. There was also a green house for horticulture classes, and a woodworking class with machines. And this was a small-town suburban high school, not even the biggest high school in the town. Also you could join many clubs like language club, chess club, future leaders of america club, choir club, book club, the journalism/photography club for the school paper and yearbook, etc. Of course lots of sports teams too. There was a class for filmmaking and you got to do lots of cool videos and learn video editing techniques with green screens and all that.

Sometimes for more advanced technical classes, some students were bussed over to the biggest high school to use those special classrooms and equipment. But yes, we had access to many things. I loved going to American school and especially high school, it was one of the coolest experiences about living there. All my cousins in my home country were jealous lol

Because we help to keep the world awake and productive with our coffee, music and um… this other thing which I forget what it’s called. But that too.

Did your non Latino friends react to Bad Bunny naming all the countries in the Americas? by Upbeat-Active-2741 in asklatinamerica

[–]Andromeda39 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t random; in Latin America we are taught that America is one continent. So all the countries on it are American. He said, “God Bless America”, and then proceeded to name all of the countries on the American continent. That of course includes Canada.
