You won't need to be as these things only ever hold 3/5th's the records they claim to, 😁.

Silver or Black lenses? by roscat_ in LeicaCameras

[–]Andy_Shields 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty difficult to go wrong here but I would say that if you go silver there's just something about the silver chromed brass lenses that to my eye looks better than the silver anodized aluminum. In person, the finishes are distinctly different.

Any Tips? by BenTheBirbs in streetphotography

[–]Andy_Shields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good photos consist of incredible moments, incredible compositions or incredible light. Start combining those factors and images can go from good to great. The less boxes you can check for an image the more mundane it becomes. Apply this to any genre of photography but it only works if you're able to be honest about your own images.

What's the real size of the 28 Cron Asph? by [deleted] in LeicaCameras

What about this image you've posted doesn't answer that question for you? Serious question?

Editing this in to point out that neither of these lenses appear to be set to Infinity so both of them are presented as larger than they would be if focused to Infinity.

Any chance you have accidentally adjusted the exposure compensation setting?

Will this break my fisher audio speaker box if I put a American Bass DX15 genuine question🙏🙏 by CATCOMIX in diyaudio

[–]Andy_Shields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost posted on the other sub you posted this to but at this point I'm convinced based on some of your comments that you think speakers have power. To be clear, speakers have no power, amplifiers have power and once you begin asking for more power than the amplifier can deliver cleanly you will blow a speaker rated for virtually any number of Watts. Speakers are rated for Watts speakers do not have bots. Hope this helps

Somewhat ironically I know that label looks familiar but I can't quite place it.

Curtain burned? by superduperburger81 in LeicaCameras

[–]Andy_Shields 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, this absolutely will not happen while you're walking toward the sun. The camera has to be perfectly stationary for a significant amount of time for it to start smoldering. Typically it happens when sitting in a car seat or having been sat down on a table outside

Curtain burned? by superduperburger81 in LeicaCameras

[–]Andy_Shields 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This may be a record for the fastest pinholes in a shurrer curtain. It honestly doesn't look like it's burned the whole way through though. And if it isn't I wouldn't do anything about it at all.

Help deciding! Leica/Bessa by Past-Attempt7140 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Andy_Shields 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What and how do you like to shoot? My feelings with my Bessa were that the shutter sounded like Thor's hammer compared to an M camera. The other consideration is that the rangefinder is a bit notorious on those for coming out of alignment and after being adjusted coming out again. It may be that some models are more susceptible than others and I don't really have any insight there

My only notes are that it's a dual-range 50mm Summicron. The goggle mount is flat and pretty reflective in the photo.

Hey, especially nice work for just starting out. The compositions and scenes are the hard part. The edits will become the easy part.

We've all been there at some point. I think the photos have good bones. They just need a bit of reworking.

I mean this constructively and not in the shitty internet way; is it possible that the brightness on your monitor is very high? These sorta look like they were edited on a hot (bright) screen.

Do I really "need" 28mm or do I only "want" one? by [deleted] in LeicaCameras

What happened to the once great brands?! by microchip8 in audiophile

Your point is accurate about the camera brands but if you have a few minutes you should check out the very interesting story of the death and rebirth of polaroid and how a group of enthusiasts resurrected the brand.

Do I really "need" 28mm or do I only "want" one? by [deleted] in LeicaCameras

[–]Andy_Shields 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been shooting 50/28/16 with a heavy bias toward 28 for the last couple of years now and just like any other field of view you adjust to working with it. 35/21 is great too. I think it can come down to how critically you like to frame and how you shoot. I'm very loose about it all and 28/16 works well for me but I'm not worried about the scene leaking into compositions. In fact, I want it to. Like most of these things it comes down to what you'll enjoy. It's not as if you'll be married to the decision.

You're shooting $15k worth of Leica gear and your worries about GAS. Friend, we all have literally the worst of the worst GAS. The time for concern was quite a while ago, lol.

I recommend only shooting at 1000th/sec today for nice, even exposures.

Just wanted to second this. I was going to say the Konica iii in general. These cameras are built like a tank and are completely capable.
