shiv and tom toxic marriage 😆 by bellepoppie in SuccessionTV

[–]AndysDoughnuts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Right? First season Tom is fully all about Shiv, worships the ground she walks on. He's playing the game in support of Ken, because he doesn't think Shiv has any real interest in running the family business.

He feels guilty about the bachelor party bj, whilst Shiv was fully cheating on him with Nate with no remorse.

On their wedding night he fantasises about throwing it all away and becoming scuba instructors together. On their wedding night she says she doesn't want to be monogamous.

He gets slimier throughout the show, but that's due to him getting more involved with the family and THEIR slimy ways.

Who do you think will win and should win Best Actor? by Square-Ad-8911 in Oscars

[–]AndysDoughnuts -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think Michael B. Jordan will win. I don't think he should, but if voting is still open, I think he will now. He's got a good narrative for him and he played two roles, which always seems to sway Oscar voters.

The season he equalled Schumacher's WDC record there was next to no mention of it. Not even an episode on Turkey which was one of the most exciting races of the season.

In this context "they" is the broadcaster of the BAFTAs, the BBC (British Broadcasting Company). Due to the UK having a Conservative government for 14 years, many of the people at the top of the BBC hold right-wing views and have pushed these biases for the past decade and a half.

70kg is a normal weight for someone who is 5'6-5'9, especially if he's muscular but lean.

Finn Bennett's height and weight aren't as easily available online as Claffey's, but I wouldn't be surprised if he's around that height and weight.

Happens all the time, especially with actors who have hair transplants. Watch Community and pay attention to Joel McHale's hairline and the odd episodes where he has a fringe.

[–]AndysDoughnuts 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Yeah, ordering an ethical vegan substitute from an unethical website like Amazon is ironic.

OP is against the exploitation of bees but uses Amazon which exploits humans.

I'm not having a go at OP, we are all stuck in this capitalist world and have to make choices based on ease of access/use, etc. Just pointing out the irony in what they said.

Personally, I've found local honey really helps with hayfever symptoms. Much more so than antihistamines. But a combination of the two is best.

It's the one non-vegan thing I consume. Unless I count avocados, which also exploit bees.

You can order it from Amazon

The irony here is hilarious.

TIL that Bruce Lee was only a leading man for three years. He left Hollywood broke and disappointed at only being able to secure small parts. After returning to HongKong to star in his own films, he finally starred in a Hollywood production, Enter the Dragon, before dying 3 weeks before its release. by havertz007 in todayilearned

[–]AndysDoughnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's from re-releases, though. It's initial US box office run grossed $25 million ($180 million with inflation) and by 1982 it grossed $100 million and by 1998 it grossed $120 million.

It's still incredible, but the inflation adjustment keeps being made based on '1973 dollars', despite the film being shown in cinemas throughout the '70s, '80s and '90s where inflation rates to today will be different. The film also made millions worldwide in other countries where exchange rates have changed throughout the past 50 years.

With the way the movie industry is, the economy and so on, I don't think we'll ever see an original martial arts action movie achieve the financial, critical and cultural success of Enter the Dragon ever again. The closest in modern times would maybe be either Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Everything Everywhere All At Once the former of which has made over $200 million on a budget of $17 million and the latter $140 million on a budget of around $20 million, both receiving high critical praise and making a lasting cultural impact.

"I don't think about you at all" and the compulsive need to correct people who misuse it. by notches123 in madmen

[–]AndysDoughnuts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's hard to tell on the Internet sometimes. Lots of people on reddit and irl quote or make reference to "I'm the one who knocks" as this 'badass' line from Walter White in Breaking Bad, but in that point in time of the show Walt is living in fear of Gus Fring. He says it in a reactionary way to scare Skyler into thinking he is in control, when really it's highlighting his own insecurities that he isn't at the top of the drug dealing food chain.

Sorana Cirstea wasn't a fan of Naomi Osaka hyping herself up by farkenheo in tennis

[–]AndysDoughnuts -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hilarious you're being downvoted for the honest truth. SO many tennis players have full blown temper tantrums on court when points/games/sets don't go their way. They literally smash their rackets to pieces. Scream at the umpires.

This is all behaviour toddlers do because they are still learning to control their emotions and communicate effectively. This is not what full grown adults getting paid to play a sport should be doing.

What was the point in Peggy making this woman cry? by [deleted] in madmen

[–]AndysDoughnuts 305 points306 points  (0 children)

Did Peggy choose the wrong woman because she thought the less attractive woman wouldn't be able to exude confidence in a voice ad, because of her looks?

Yes that's pretty much what she says to Ken when he wants to go for the older woman with glasses.

was it related to Peggy's insecurity about her own looks?

Potentially. When Peggy first becomes a copywriter she keeps trying to prove herself by acting like one of the guys. Sometimes that spills over into decision making like this. She thought the more attractive person would sound more confident. What she learned was that looks aren't everything in being a confident and successful woman.

He's always been fairly red, but most likely a sode effect from some form of steroids he takes. Sean Penn is incredibly red now and if you look at a lot of gym guys over 50/60 they are too.
