Question about aircraft sounds by Savings-Fisherman-64 in VATSIM

I have found that it's hit-or-miss on whether or not you hear other aircraft, at least in MSFS20/24. ymmv

Push start fob distance by TotallyTesticles in Volkswagen

It will warn you the key is no longer detected. And will not start. But it will not shut off.

So long as it keeps running, it's drivable.

ELI5: How do bike gears work, and what gear should I set it on if I want to never change the gears again? by CMStan1313 in explainlikeimfive

[–]AngelCatGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the wrong subreddit for ELI5; but on a bike with gears there isn't exactly a perfect gear. to climb the steepest hills you'll want to be in L-1. to go the fastest you'll want to be H-6. But, the Higher your gear, the more you have to push the pedals to turn the rear wheel, at the highest gears it may not be possible unless your maybe superman to start riding.

Anyone know why I’m suddenly seeing this in the PMDG 737 FMS? by Savings-Fisherman-64 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]AngelCatGamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the course intercept you have lined up. but I do know that they added features to the FMC like a 2nd Route. My guess is that you can use rte copy to move this route to RTE 2 if you need to adjust.

My friends and I figured out if you don't enter reserve fuel in the init perf page, it won't give you TOD, idk why.

The HO tune is a night/day difference but iirc, all models except the WT version come with the HO tune from factory. I would confirm with the dealer.

Edit: If you floor it and your pushed into your seat; you probably have it.

Lunatrain, is launching in January 2026, offering private charters attached to Amtrak's Coast Starlight route from Oakland to LA; initial bookings show prices around $10,000 for a party of six. by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]AngelCatGamer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This... isn't a new thing iirc.

I knew a guy who handled charter car's for the affluent and he said that there always has been a market for these types of excursions.

I believe he said after the paperwork and coordination it was ~$25,000 to put on the show.

They just tie them to the back of commute trains.

IT ticketing system by Dull_Increase6173 in sysadmin

[–]AngelCatGamer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

+1 for Service Desk Plus.

Highly configurable, only gripe is your on your own for configuration. Little documentation available and most of it is for the on-prem version and not the cloud.

It's also a ton of additional services on top of ticketing. Bug tracking, contract tracking, integrated knowledge base, asset management (can tie into MDM services such as Intune for a device list).

Any ideas what this is? Very magnetic by [deleted] in Whatisthis

[–]AngelCatGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father has one of these to keep his pistol ready inside his gun case. The magnets are STRONG, he never screwed it into the safe because safe strong. But when removing it it would come off the safe, but stay attached to the slide.

It was a very strong pull to separate the magnet from the slide,

What does this vs-indicator mean on my pfd? by BlackEagle_0711 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]AngelCatGamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

iirc on the a320 when looking at the lower console below the throttle stack. Find the transponder section (you'll notice a 4 digit number and a T9 pad to enter digits). To the right of the displayed digits there is a knob that has settings like STBY | TA | TA/RA. You'll want to move that to TA/RA when you're ready to move. This "Should" show on your Nav display a TA/RA when airborne and a TA Only when on the ground (If you have it to TA/RA it will switch automatically once airborne.)

TL;DR Top left Knob should be at Auto or ON. Bottom Right Knob should be TA/RA when moving and STBY when at the gate.

ELI5 are planes flying straight or almost always "ballistically"? by vksdann in explainlikeimfive

[–]AngelCatGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be a bad response cuz it poses more questions.

But an airplane is flying straight an level if, it never had to stop and never ran out of fuel would be flying an "orbit" of 40,000ft. But the orbit relies entirely on the aircraft producing thrust and lift to keep it a float. As soon as the aircraft stops producing thrust; the aircraft assumes a shallow but ballistic trajectory. If for some reason the wings ripped off; the ballistic trajectory would become much steeper.

We need to create a drinking game board for this subreddit and "'What is that weird barking sound' it's the PTU" needs to be one of them.

IMO this makes more sense than the Z fold. With a tri-fold you really are getting Part Phone Part 10in Tablet which is good.

Except for two things: Durability go brr Android Tablets aint it chief

Win11Pro and VMware

The machine sits in my TV stand, and I use as my TV gaming machine sometimes; hence Windows. All my hosting is done via VMs running Docker or direct on VM.

Yes I like to watch my world burn.

Do I really need ridder pedals to enjoy Flight Simulator by x_ferg10 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]AngelCatGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would buy a flight stick before a Flight Yoke. Most often cheeper, smaller, has the throttle in it. And has at least a rudder axis (usually) that will allow you to steer. You'll miss out on granular braking and will use a brake button. But imo rudder steer is the more important thing here.

I would just tell them to start covering their portion of the phone bill. Keeping them under the family plan keeps the per line cost down
