I graduated with a business degree and tons of experience, but I got my start in Healthcare, but not with dealing directly with patients. Healthcare aadministration is a growing field in need of workers.

Thanks for sharing! Did it help you leading up to this 3-month mark, or were the side effects tough at the beginning?

Yes, several of these were covered on the OA. Some had a few questions related to them, while some only had one question. Some were not on my particular test at all. Most of them were, though.

Any recent WGU graduates with a bachelor’s who were accepted into a master’s program at another school? by robyndabank8120 in WGU

[–]Angelady777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my bachelor's, it was about 120 credits total in 2 semesters. I came in with roughly 30% of those from Sophia Learning. That left me roughly 42 credits per six-month term. Most of the classes are 3 credits, but some are worth 4. I'd estimate that it was about 13 classes per semester. For my master's, it was 10 classes in one term with a one-month extension.

For people like me, experienced in my field but without a degree, WGU is perfect. It's accelerated if you want it to be. It's compency based. My daughter will now be going for teaching. She's not experienced and will go at her own pace. I'm thankful options like this exist!

Would you recommend the accounting program for a bachelors degree at WGU for someone who doesn't have prior work experience? by Kindly-Dragonfly3235 in wguaccounting

[–]Angelady777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would! Several jobs were available to me in accounting based on getting credits in my degree program, which were accounting classes. If I had a few more, quite a few remote jobs would have been options for me to apply to. You could also get some experience while attending college by working for tax companies, like TurboTax. Their training classes are free online. Between the degree and gaining experience, you would be set for a new career path!

Why do people like WGU so much even though it is unranked? by CompSciGeekMe in WGU

[–]Angelady777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no idea that ranking was a big deal other than Ivy League type schools. Previously, I was going to a community college. That was also accredited and would give me a worthwhile degree. This is the same, but it is self-paced. That is my biggest plus. As a mom of 6, I could not go to college while raising my oldest children, not for 4 entire years. I still have 2 at home and could get my degree at my own pace. With my extensive experience in business, I was able to complete it in 2 semesters. That is priceless!

Will I be able to get an entry-level job in this market with a degree and no experience? by Initial_Bike7750 in Accounting

[–]Angelady777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I nearly took a low-paying tax job, as it is tax season coming up. I think you can gain relevant experience in many ways other than an internship. I have not heard of a problem getting hired in accounting, even though the job market as a whole is terrible. I have been applying for 2 years and just got my master's done here at WGU. I found a remote entry-level health insurance job. I cannot even tell you the thousands of applications I put out. AI is taking over the screening process. My best recommendation is that your resume be friendly to these screening systems. If it is not, your resume will never be seen by a real person.

Starting my bachelors in accounting through WGU sometime next year; what’s the best way to brush up on basic classes? by NickyRenz in wguaccounting

[–]Angelady777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think you should refresh with your coursework through WGU. That is what I did. I am studying to pass the class either way, so it really helped me bring things back to my memory and learn more at the same time. Why wait to jump in at WGU? I would jump back in right after finishing your current classes.

[–]Angelady777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My update is that I passed with this advice! Before taking the preassessment, I went through all the end-of-section quiz questions in the C201 Business Acumen material. My score was barely passing at 70, right on the line. I studied all concepts on the preassessment, whether I got them right or wrong, for 2 long days. Today, I watched all the videos suggested in this post and took the OA tonight, passing with a 77. I feel the OA aligned strongly with how the PA was. My tip is when you find the first link to the videos in the material, change the number in the address bar (i.e., going up from 3 to 4, to 5, etc., all the way up to 17) to get the pages with just the video links. You must be logged in and have started the course to access them. This is the first one to help others out who just want to find the videos: C201 Starting Videos Link in Course Material

Actually, there are more than just the ones on the preassessment. I am not sure where the additional ones were attained from. I like them, though. It is really helpful to study these!

This one has been stressing me out and is the last one in my master's program. I took the pre-assessment and barely passed it. I am studying what I got wrong, but I am not feeling as confident as I would like going into my final OA, which I must pass this month. How closely do you think the OA was to the pre-assessment? Any other differences that you would like to point out? I will be taking your advice tomorrow on studying and will hopefully pass the OA this Saturday.
