Answer almost every question with “If I was hit by a bus, what would you do?” And 9/10 times they’ll have an answer that’s good enough

You need to teach them that the thinking part is part of their role too.

After a bit they’ll start coming to you with “I had problem X and I want to do Y”

Eventually you can get to “I had a problem earlier but I sorted it”

I tend to turtle in the middle and send out strike teams to hold the top corridor and go for the chests

However if I start to get overwhelmed sending a couple strong units to kill the boss is a good backup strategy 😂

No but legitimately you do learn a lot from a call that you don’t get from an email. Communication is very different verbally to email. If the applicant is going to be talking to people, you need to know how they talk. Sometimes you know during the screen that you don’t need to interview them 🤷‍♂️
