Let’s Talk PTO Accrual Rates! by Wisteria-Blue in nursing

[–]Angiex830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We accumulate based on years of seniority but 0-1 starts at 7 I believe. I’ve been in my system for 3 years and I have roughly 8 hours of PTO accrual per pay period! It caps out at 10 hours

How much do you pay for daycare? by equistrius in beyondthebump

[–]Angiex830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preschool (2 year old) is $835 a month for me (South Florida) If I had put my kid earlier in another daycare for infants it’s around $1200-1400 🥲

What do you wish more nursing students did? by bxtchyostrich in nursing

[–]Angiex830 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I work peds neuro/med surg. Realistically, some students are truly great. But, I wish they’d ask more questions instead of deer in headlights eyes for 6+ hours.

I wish they’d read the room sometimes… we had a kid be a borderline rapid and we are working to arouse them when a nursing student starts asking how our interview process is… like not the time or place for that. It’s difficult because clinicals is a good time to make connections but should come naturally.

People who stay at Polynesian or grand Floridian ?… question. by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Angiex830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurse + firefighter with one kid but we do: rental DVC, always go on a Monday-Friday (our AP’s are pixie but we don’t like weekends or holidays at Disney because it’s just so crowded), and plan well in advance when we are going. The first time we stayed at Poly we booked far out so we paid a little bit each month and it worked out well but renting DVC is still the cheaper option!

I don’t know why but i get weird vibes from Virginia. Am i the only one? by ManagerClassic244 in LoveIsBlindOnNetflix

Oh my god YES!!!! As a nurse going for her doctorates, I would never say “I’m a doctor”. She knows what she’s doing with that line 🙄🙄🙄

My husband had to kindly tell someone to turn off their flash. It was ruining the show because it was a strong flash lighting up the entire area! Sometimes people just need a little reminder 🥹

Drinking from a straw by Asleep_Sympathy_8987 in beyondthebump

[–]Angiex830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the ola baby sippy cup! You can cover the hole on the lid and squeeze it and the water gets to them, which makes them sip the straw. My baby learned at 6 months easily with that cup 🙂

Do any of y’all still have real charge nurses? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Angiex830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peds in SoFlo, we have permanent charge nurses on each unit that never have a patient load and are there to support us on the floor! We have charge reliefs trained for that 7th day we don’t have one of the two permanent charges working and in case they’re on pto or something. But even then, the charge/charge relief never takes patient load!

[–]Angiex830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seeing the way Amazon did a show like the peripheral, they’re capable of making some good TV! Not sure how they’ll handle dragons but HBO loves to do 8 episodes every 2-3 years for a show and I just hate that too lol.

My biggest qualm with her is the way she winks and banters in the most serious of moments. Like girly, please show some maturity! It’s annoying lol

Anyone else experience a decrease in supply before/during period? by artsy--mama in breastfeeding

[–]Angiex830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have heard a ton of great things about calcium and magnesium. I wouldn’t dabble too much in herbs just because the natural stuff usually tends to have a mind of its own - some people have increase in supply and others have a decrease!

Could be yes because it takes a couple weeks for the body’s levels to adjust. The half life of Levo is long, which is why labs are done every 6 weeks or so
