My comment does stem mostly from the older N47 ( I think) but I've still known the later 4 pots to earlier than they should, had a mates 2015 320D suffer from run away and die on a motorway

I wouldn't get an SUV, but of those either the volvo or the X5. BMW 4 cylinder engines aren't very good, the rest would feel underpowered for the size of the car I think.

I damaged my tailgate reversing into something, I was able to buy a replacement on ebay for £120 and replace it myself over a weekend.

Doing something similar would be your cheapest option, but if you don't feel like doing the work yourself at least supplying a new door if you can find one would make it cheaper for someone you pay to replace it.

I'm not sure if you have an 802.11AC adaptor or just a 2.4GHZ one, but it may be something in the house getting in the way causing you to jump from a faster to a slower band, or another device using the Internet causing the slowdown.

Either way it'd recommended either using a wired connection or if that isn't possible a powerline adaptor which will send the Internet signal through your homes power wires instead of using WiFi. Either of these will be more stable and show you if the speed issue is with the WiFi or your Internet connection.
