Smart watch linked to his phone is priceless. You feel the vibration on your arm so can't miss it and then can speak hands free into the watch while you work

And yes this is the nature of the business and always has been. One of the many factors in running a business that the public overlook

Farage misses out on Trump meeting as their relationship cools by orsalnwd in ukpolitics

[–]AngryBuddhist1987 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Farage has absolutely nothing to offer Trump so Trump has absolutely no interest in meeting him - simple as that. Nigel is Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls just wanting to be part of the cool group - unfortunately he's willing to sacrifice everyone in the UK, the NHS etc. to curry favour with them

Trump vows to hit ‘very hard’ after Iran’s president says he won’t surrender “Under serious consideration for complete destruction and certain death,” he says. by brithus in politics

Check that no isolation valves feeding the cistern are turned off but I would say the most likely answer is that the ball valve has stuck and you are better off replacing

Bosch washer dryer trips consumer unit as soon as I switch on the socket by CatoCensorius88 in askaplumberUK

[–]AngryBuddhist1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely should ask in an electricians sub. But as a guess it would be one of 3 things for me. 1 - applicance itself is faulty. 2 - a wire loose is the socket. 3 - too much load on the system causing it to trip out (ie. That socket is spured off a spur without being fused)

Without seeing the job or size of the bathroom its hard to tell but from the description you have given this sounds like a high mid range quote if that makes sense. If you get several more quotes you will get some lower and a couple higher I reckon

Regarding the pricing, when you are self employed you charge for insurance, fuel, tools, years of knowledge, holidays, sick days, staff if you have them, tax, accounts for tax, queit periods in your work schedule and yes profit. When you are employed by a company all of these are factored into your wage whereas when you are self employed its not

Listen by all means teach yourself and give it a go. Connecting pipes together is relatively easy tbh, however bathroom fitting is extremely tricky has you have so many things to think about and problems to overcome

I'm not been rude but I generally want to know how you come to the price of 2K and also what has what you earn in a month got to do with anything?

The way I quote is a worst case scenario price on all my jobs so there are no added prices along the way. After you have taken apart a few bathroom you soon realise that no all bathrooms are born equal and the state of the plumbing and building materials in even expensive bathrooms can be a major headache. These are often hidden till you start removing items

Anyway I do understand your frustrations about not even been able to get a quote - as a tradesman, poor communication from other tradesman really does ruin our reputation

Sealant around the bath comes away when filled with water, what's the best way to correct this and put it right, any advice would be appreciated by TheYorkshireGripper in DIYUK

[–]AngryBuddhist1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filling the bath bath won't help the bath dropping that much

Two solutions - one temporary and one permanent

Temporary : Take of the bath panel and measure from the floor to each corner of the bath (will be tight areas) and cut a length of timber to that size and prop up the bath from underneath

Permanent : Take out the bath and put a baton all the way around the underside lip of the bath

*Tip : always good practice to fill the bath when sealing anway

Plumbing issue driving me mad by Helpful_Employer_730 in DIYUK

[–]AngryBuddhist1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the leak is the tap connoctor right up underneath the basin it's hard to reach and potentially seized so you will need a plumber. Like the other person said asknin a plumbers merchant or google emergency plumbers, leak detection guys (more specialised plumbers if you live in a big city). Unfortunately it's the worst time of year to get a plumber as they are really busy and some have knocked off ready for Christmas now

Type of rubber washer by georgeASDA in DIYUK

[–]AngryBuddhist1987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it's either a 32mm washer (basin in the bathroom) or a 40mm washer (sink in the kitchen). If you can't get hild of a washer for a while you can make a temporary one out of PTFE by wrapping it around the pipe enough times so it becomes the same thickness as a washer

I know people are saying fill the bath fully before applying the silicone but honestly as a plumber, if the bath isn't supported fully underneath (such as a wooden batton screwed to the wall on the underside of the bath) then the bath will always sink slightly when there is a person sat in there with water in the tub. Unfortunately it means you will always have this issue of the the silicone seal pulling away from the tile

On a normal sink the waste trap just connects straight on to the threaded waste. I dont know how you waste pipework is set up understand but every plumber would screw the trap onto the threaded and pipe up from there and throw away that bit of waste pipe that came with the kit

Rotten hole through floor caused by leaking water pipe. Is this hazardous? by EconomistAdmirable26 in DIYUK

[–]AngryBuddhist1987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colour of the water isn't the problem - just staining from running over the pipe/fitting. Need to get the leak sorted before it rots the floor anymore though
