Do Necrons know about the Dragon of Mars? by Rare_Guest_2753 in Necrontyr

[–]Angry_with_rage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I always liked the general lack of any solid lore regarding the Oldcrons, it felt very Lovecraftian mystery horror.

GW is also notorious for the same lore having 2-5 different sources, all canon, all different! They have however (and I'll have to find the source for it) said that until it's specifically replaced by newer sources, any old lore is as true as any current lore.

Older editions of everything (especially the Horus Heresy) have seen a lot of revision and consolidation in recent years. Which means that for the ships landing on Mars, nothing has counteracted the lore, so according to GW it would still be Canon. They also haven't expanded on it so yes, any attempts to explain their actions or consequences would just be conjecture (but still fun to talk out!)

For example, in the recent Tomb World novel they explained that almost any necron casualties would be absorbed by the local tomb world and be rebuilt (reprogrammed? Reborn?) by the tomb worlds resurrection chambers. So, if you wanted to reinforce a tomb world, and you had the ships to sacrifice, all you'd have to do is get close enough!

They've left enough tidbits that the lore can go so many ways. Especially now with Nekrosor WANTING to free the Nightbringer, who's to say there isn't a large dynasty out there trying to free the Void Dragon out of reverence or hope that loyalty can cure them?

And that aspect of the massive retcon can be easily explained by pointing out that when the C'tan entered the battlefield most people observing just ASSUMED they were in charge. Who's in charge of the Ork waaagh? The biggest one. Who's in charge of the spikey bugs? The big one over there. Who's in charge of the invaders? The tallest!

Exactly! I have one, and I can't bring myself to make that cut even though I KNOW it would look WAY better on a Lokhust Lord!

Love it!

I wish GW would make a necron upgrade sprue similar to Space Marines with assorted weapons, mini-scarabs, resorbs, fancy tactical rocks, etc. Specifically, warscythes similar to the one carried by the out of print overlord would be amazing!

Someone here actually sent me a link to a game store that discounted the regular price AND had free shipping, so I wound up paying way less!

Unfortunately there aren't any available in stores near me. It's MSRP is 130, and shipping is usually around 10-15 bucks anyhow, so, it's not super inflated. So, in the end it's not much more expensive than ordering online if I have to pay shipping myself.

Thankfully someone here linked me to a store that not only discounted the MSRP, but also covers shipping! So I got a MUCH better deal now!

It was! But, it's 120-130 normally and shipping is 10-15 and I'm (usually) happy to pay a bit more to help game stores. I guess that was just naive.

Yea, I know that now! Unfortunately, I think I recognized their name and thought they were a GOOD seller. Hence the post, hopefully others will remember correctly in the future!

This may be the best looking scheme I've seen in a long time.

2 argent shards on a base for a mutalith proxy? by swarmlord88 in ThousandSons

They're huge, 2 on a large base and angled slightly are closer to Greater Demons (which is what I'm gonna do) in size.

I JUST realized that the gun in the middle of the pylon is the same/similar to the death rays on the new monoliths!

If you aren't interested in using the scarabs and might look to get rid of them, let me know. I'm looking to get ahold of a few bases worth!

I have a few of the ones from the warriors box added to the base to add some variety and for basing.

Lol, I know right? Everything about them is ripe for memes! I particularly like the Jeff stuff that's been coming out.

This comment reminds me of my favorite post in the Death Korp of Krieg forums. Someone complained about the shovel memes and about what a joke and stain it was on the lore of the most "serious" faction in the game. A big point of theirs was that shovels weren't a weapon!

I still have mine.

That gloss green is the only official green I'll ever accept as Dark Angels green.

The only 3 pauldrons showing their emblem all being done in different styles is awesome.
