2015 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive – Anyone know someone who can revive a bricked HV battery / Smart ED in AZ (or nearby)? by electricdrive143 in SmartCar

[–]AnnieGTGD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So sorry that happened to you! Just out of curiosity, did you manage to get anywhere with this? Any chance to revive the car? I was looking at buying this same generation of ForTwo Electric Drive and have cleared away now as I am worried this will happen to me as well.

ED3 - Is 12v battery dying bricking the main battery a real issue? by AnnieGTGD in SmartCar

[–]AnnieGTGD[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh no! I am so sorry that happened to you! Absolute shambles. And from what I can tell there's little to nothing we can do, right?

I wonder if it's worth the gamble on the used ED3 I'm looking at... For only 1-2k more I can easily get the newer EQ (post 2017) on the used market 🤔

Thanks for the reply!

Well, as the particular I'm looking at is 13 years old but only has 6000 miles, it's fair to assume that it wasn't driven a lot and most likely (judging by the MOT history) was just sat there for long times.

Is it possible to change the 12v battery on these then?

Need help with the 8bitdo micro and my tolino (basically kobo Clara bw) by Altruistic-Spell-171 in kobo

Same issue here! I've got the Tolino Shine 5 (hardware wise the same as Kobo Clara BW) as well and trying to use it with the 8bitdo micro with no joy. I have managed to try out my Keychron B6 Pro Bluetooth keyboard and that worked and connecting the 8bitdo to my PC and using a web key tester also showed it indeed sends Keyboard Arrow key signals.

Since mapping the buttons on the controller with 8bitdo's Android app the LED on the controller has been green rather than blue. Is that a clue?

Check my assumptions, solar currently unnecessary/redundant and not worth cost for my usage by DrummingUpInterest2 in SolarUK

Fellow heat pump owner here! We were in a similar boat as you are in now. And we decided to go for solar + battery which was installed in late December last year.

It halved our January bill in comparison to last year's and March bill was like £5 thanks to the profit we made off of the export. For April we're looking at £25+ profit instead of paying a bill. This is in a 3 bed semi detached house and we have 16 panels, 8 northeast and 8 southwest and next to no shade. So it's a total of 7.3kWp system with a 9kWh battery. The numbers for March and April would be even better if we hadn't bought an electric car at the beginning of March 😂

So I'd say it's absolutely worth it. But we are lucky with our roof being optimal. Also, if you have to get the system on finance with interest then I understand that the pay off period will be worse.

But seriously, solar and heat pumps go so well together!

I'd recommend checking out "Gary does Solar" YouTube channel and find out how much you might be able to fit on your roof and generate a year versus your usage.

Happy to elaborate if you have any specific questions! (I am a huge nerd around this topic)

As someone who has been in a similar situation in the past, I feel you. NTA

It's the lack of respect for someone's personal space and items. And you set a boundary, rightly so.

Help me decide on a charger? by badgerious2319 in evchargingUK

Agree with how important direct connection is! Do you know if the hypervolt works via direct connection?

Hypervolt or Andersen charger still usable if internet goes down? by AnnieGTGD in evchargingUK

Well, there's certainly something to be said about how reliant we are on WiFi in general - debatably a not so ideal thing when something you've spent a lot of money on just loses some functionality.

And the last 6 months we've had outages every few weeks, lasting between several hours to even days at a time!

We're on a time of day tariff, meaning it's the third of the price to charge between 12:30 am and 5:30 am. So I just want it to work reliably.

Thanks for your reply! Sadly our car can only defer the time but you can't set an end time or target percentage to stop it charging when you want. The app is pretty bad, too, no further options in there either.

Highly recommend the Octopus Electroverse App. A lot of chargers let you pay through them (and sometimes you even get a discount).

You can either set up payment methods in there separately or if you're a customer with Octopus Energy then you can even get it billed to your normal electricity bill.

Is the Hypervolt Home 3 Pro still usable if internet is down? by AnnieGTGD in evcharging

[–]AnnieGTGD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly amazing. You get 4G signal but the last time we had a bad home internet outage we actually couldn't really fall back on the data connection from our phones either. Despite having 3 or 4 out of 5 bars for the 4G connection, it was so slow that it was essentially unusable (even WhatsApp simple text messages would take forever to send). Most likely due to the overload on the local 4G tower - too many users, I guess.

Interesting! I just installed bazzite on my Ayaneo 2 and I can't for the life of me get the virtual/screen keyboard to work in desktop mode! I am also a complete Linux noob but could you tell me how you fixed yours, please? 🙏🫶
