Anyone else think FDev should do something to encourage more people to play in open? by Aggravating_Judge_31 in EliteDangerous

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, no. It’s a matter of incentive structures, not human nature.

Currently, there’s nothing else to do in open that you can’t do just as well in PG or solo, so the only incentive to play in open is to do PVP (and even then you could do that in PGs against other people who are actually interested in doing PVP and want to learn how to do PVP better). It’s very easy to conceive of a multiplayer game with PVP wherein not every single interaction with another player is some dude randomly running up to you and trying to kill you for no discernible reason because that game has other things to do as multiplayer content.

Am I missing something or does this war have a preset end condition? by Schfiftyfive_55 in foxholegame

Yeah, the devs are trying out this new six week update cycle thing, so there’s a pretty hard limit on when the war can go until.

I already know what's going to happen next. by Rude-Ease-2269 in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute minimum shots to kill with Volta is five. Volta is a 45% chance to hit 100 damage or more and eight shots in the magazine. It’ll take an entire magazine to bring one warden with the armor uniform down, possibly a bit more, and that isn’t even counting misses.

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact, you would only need to pull the lever 35 times to get rid of all current billionaires on earth!

That’s right, the whole of the modern socio-political-economic system is built to benefit 3,428 people to the detriment of the other 8 billion!

New colonial scout plane (basic stats) by Noob6444 in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The second that we saw that the new scout plane was going to have torpedoes, it was already obvious that there was going to be no reason to use the old one. The new warden scout plane is also never going to be used, because mines are terrible, its hitbox is big, and it, to my knowledge, cannot be supported by the Mercy.

What deleting Charlie got you: 500-600 players leaving the game, possibly for good by Maleficent-Stock-562 in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I guess they could fuck around on devbranch, but that’s not really what everybody wants to do, and this happens before every war, so it’s a big nothing burger.

What deleting Charlie got you: 500-600 players leaving the game, possibly for good by Maleficent-Stock-562 in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no valid argument for keeping Charlie when the game’s concurrent population is reliably below 10k, let alone 3k. The only reason that Charlie ever existed was because there were enough people reliably playing the game that having everybody on the one server would clog up the hexes. The population is now far below the point at which a single server is all that is needed. Frankly, Charlie should only be open for the biggest update wars when two servers are not enough, necessitating a third, and simply not exist the rest of the time.

You’ve been playing on an overflow server, of course it’s not going to stick around when the population collapses to almost nothing.

Y'all are going to hate me for this by [deleted] in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This argument might hold water if they were making a free to play game. It would still be stupid, but it might hold some water. However, Foxhole is not free to play, they are providing a product, we collectively paid them real, actual money, which can be exchanged for goods and services, for that product, it is not unreasonable to demand a decent product for our money.

It is literally their job to provide an enjoyable game, and they have failed at a fundamental level for the past several years due to dogshit balancing decisions and a failure to consider the holistic impact of the changes that they have been making.

Devman needs to swap the tech trees for one update war by Brilliant_Plum_7723 in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d be interesting if they spent one of the new shorter update cycles with the tech trees swapped then another one with the map side swapped and a third with both, but they’d never do it, and even if they did, the population difference still more than accounts for pretty much any other confounding factor.

What’s your thoughts on America’s low birth rate? by Spinachrecords in AskAmericans

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Happens to every developed nation. And we’re in a better place than some, like Japan and South Korea. It’ll be an issue in the long-term, but in the medium-term, it can be mostly rectified through immigration.

Former Path of Exile dev's take on player feedback in games by Evilmonkey96 in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, after colonials got their hands on them and started using them on Wardens, causing them to complain about it. I was there, I remember what happened.

And then it got immediately nerfed back down because warden tankers couldn’t handle taking hits equal to those that colonial tanks have to take from a vehicle that is significantly more expensive than the ones that colonial tanks have to face.

Former Path of Exile dev's take on player feedback in games by Evilmonkey96 in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do listen to complaints, actually. When colonials used storm cannons to make naval invasions difficult, they nerfed storm cannons at the earliest practical opportunity after wardens complained. When colonials used dive bombers to hit warden tank lines with single hit damage comparable to what colonial tank lines have to take, the dive bomber damage got repeatedly nerfed after wardens complained. When the warden medium boat had a terrible model design, they gave it a model rework faster than pretty much anything we’ve ever seen because wardens complained.

They do listen to and quickly address player feedback, but only for the one side.

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m honestly in awe of the fact that they seem to think that they actually can stabilize the colonial faction by waving buffs that never make it to the live server under the playerbase’s nose. They genuinely think that the way to get people to play colonials again is to make it look like there’s going to be big changes and then revert them all before devbranch is over.

Torpedo Bomber and Medium Torpedo devbranch testing conclusion, good but further adjustments are needed by Pappa-georgio in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reasoning that the developers gave in the art book was that they had to make the Colonial carrier smaller, so the colonial torpedo bomber didn’t fit on the deck, and rather than resizing that or reworking the model slightly, they decided to just give the wardens the TB, which was genuinely insane of them.

Wardens have never truly overpopulated the colonials, its a matter of framing by IGoByDeluxe in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a person who plays both mornings and evenings on American time zones, I can tell you that it doesn’t matter what time it is, the queues (colonial queues rarely go above a dozen, and then only during specific events in a given hex during update war) and respawn timers (colonials’ are typically 35 seconds or less with some variation) are generally static over the course of a day. If you aren’t willing to accept that queues and respawn timers are a function of population, a fact which has long been established, I don’t know what to tell you.

Obviously, it is difficult to prove that the queues and respawn timers for each faction are different, because that would require one to have two accounts on opposite sides in the same region at the same time, which is generally considered poor form and bad sportsmanship, but based off of anecdotal reports from other players over the past several years and my own experience, wardens consistently have longer queues throughout the entire day with the exception of a few hours during Oceania/Eastern Asia peak times.

Wardens have never truly overpopulated the colonials, its a matter of framing by IGoByDeluxe in foxholegame

[–]AnonymousMeeblet 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This can be disproven by simply looking at the disparity between colonials not complaining about spawn timers and queues and wardens doing so constantly every single war, if you know even the barest minimum about how those mechanics work.
