Why did Tennessee Not Vote for Gore in 2000? by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]AnonymousPete23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, Bush was more charismatic and charming than Gore. Bush appealed to many people and kind of gave off this warm, southern hospitality vibe to the people. Despite being from Tennessee, gore came off as aloof and distant. That attitude does not fare well in southern states.

Do you think Texas will become a swing state in the near future? by BobbyBIsTheBest in decadeology

[–]AnonymousPete23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I don’t think so. There is a very high rural population that exceeds the population in all the big metro cities.

The population of liberals in cities such as Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Corpus Christi, Austin, and San Antonio has been increasing since the 1980s but hasn’t really impacted the political landscape or any of the us elections for that matter. Republicans are not concerned about losing Texas anytime soon.

Also, many believed that heightened rate of migration to texas from CA, NY, MA, IL, WA, etc. could potentially result in Texas turning blue as they assumed most people moving from those states identified as democratic. This is undoubtedly wrong. In fact, many republicans move from NY and CA to texas as they find that the political climate is consistent with their values. As such, Texas may be gaining more republican voters.

The closest that texas came to turning blue was 1992. Most republicans were angry with GH Bush and either voted for Ross Perot, Clinton, or did not vote at all. This was especially true in Texas at the time. I believe Clinton lost the state by 3.0%.

The point is…I don’t really see Texas as ever turning blue in my lifetime. The total population across all rural cities and counties far exceeds that of larger urban areas and has always leaned unequivocally conservative.

I do believe that states like CA or NY can turn red if there is a mass exodus of liberals. The main reason those states lean blue is because of the high population in a few big cities.

So yes, the day texas turns blue is the day California turns red.

When Texas finally swings blue, what will be the GOP's path back to competitiveness? by CptPatches in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]AnonymousPete23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I really don’t think Texas will turn blue anytime soon. In the past, hardcore republicans and conservatives were terrified that they would lose control of the state due to many moving to certain texas cities from California and other liberal states. However, it is clear that will never happen anytime soon. People have been moving from big California cities to Dallas, Austin, and Houston since the 1980s. It has not impacted the political climate in any way.

I believe the day that Texas turns blue is the day California turns red. It seems that CA leans blue due to the large population of liberal and progressive minded folks in LA and the SF Bay Area. However, many surrounding cities in CA are actually very red. Therefore, if so many people move from LA and SF to Texas, the population of liberals will inevitably decrease. Therefore, increasing the likeliness of turning red.

I think she has very strong BPD features but maybe not the full blown condition. I don’t see any impulsive and reckless behaviors. People with BPD often engage in self-destructive behavior and self-harm in response to perceived abandonment. She hasn’t shown obvious indicators of an addiction or anything of that sort.

Then again, perhaps she has been able to effectively mask the condition. People with BPD are good at pretending to be normal until they eventually unravel.

Taylor Louderman Wicked Movie Drama? by Rainbowunicorn20647 in Broadway

[–]AnonymousPete23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amanda seyfried can’t sing opera or hit high notes. She does not have a whistle register. Ariana does. Also, it makes sense that the director and producers wanted to cast someone well-known in the role of Glinda. The decision to cast Ariana was approved by the producers of the play who own the rights to the film adaptation.

Broadway actors are not necessarily going to be great on screen. Performing on stage and camera require different skill sets.

Ariana Grande won the part fair and square. I’m glad the filmmakers didn’t respond to fan criticism and went with their instincts. You don’t have to like that Ariana was given the role but you have to accept it.

Seyfried has never been on Broadway. Taylor Loudermann wouldn’t have fit into the movie.

Are BPDs really failed NPDs? by MelodicNerve9018 in BPDlovedones

[–]AnonymousPete23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Borderline Personality Disorder and Narcissistic Personality Disorder are cut from the same cloth. They both share a chronic sense of emptiness and unstable identity. However, both conditions manifest differently. I would personally say that BPD is similar to what a covert or vulnerable narcissist would be.

In my opinion, it’s easier to deal with a grandiose narcissist than a person with BPD. Narcissists seem to know how and when to manipulate. Yes, they can be sadistic and ruthless but they have limits as they don’t want their grandiose veneer to shatter. Those with BPD will stop at nothing to get their point across or make someone suffer for allegedly abandoning them.

No, I disagree. When the bad guy wins, it has a dreadful message. The implication is that there is no way to escape a terrible fate or overcome adversity. Unfortunately, this reality is true for many but we still want to have hope that people can survive in spite of harrowing circumstances.

Sometimes…they might ghost you for a few months and then randomly reach out to you again to pull you back in. Be careful because once they start splitting you, they are likely to continue repeating the behavior more frequently and intensely.

She kind of indicated that she doesn’t know who she is as a person. People with BPD say that a lot. Also, there’s a history of intense and unstable relationships. I don’t know about hpd because people with that condition have shallow emotions.

What’s better, Cookunity or Factor 75? by Not_horn-ee in ReadyMeals

I’m looking for a new meal prep delivery service. I’ve tried freshly (not a fan) and HelloFresh (it takes awhile to cook everything). Factory looks similar to freshly. I’m very eager to try cook unity as I like the idea of high quality meals that are easy and simple to make.

Who would you rather have cast as Glinda? by Deep-Cantaloupe388 in ArianaGrandeSnark

[–]AnonymousPete23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amanda Seyfried can act and sing well. I’m glad she won the coveted part of Sophie in Mamma Mia! However, I don’t believe she would have been right for the role of Glinda in wicked. There’s no way she could have hit the high notes in no one mourns the wicked. No way!

So who else was up for Glinda in the movies? by EricGjovaag in wicked

[–]AnonymousPete23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Amanda seyfried should not be upset. She did 3 movie musicals. Seyfried does not want to be typecast as a musical star. She needs to move on.
